CAN YOU IMAGINE THIS: I STARTED ONCE AS A YOUNG GUITAR PLAYER SOME 17 YEARS AGO. MY FOVORITE BAND WAS QUEEN. THEN CAME "SURFING..." AND A WHOLE NEW WORLD OPENED FOR ME. THEN I WENT TO THE RENOWNED ENGLISH LANGUAGE SCHOOL IN SOFIA,BULGARIA, THEN TO THE MUSIC ACADEMY. I'VE PLAYED IN A LOT OF BANDS AND GROWN A REPUTATION I'M PROUD OF.NOW I AM TO BE THE STAGE MANAGER FOR THE FIRST JOE SATRIANI CONCERT IN BULGARIA! IT LOOKS AS IF ALL HAS BEEN CAREFULLY PLANNED SO MANY YEARS AGO. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE MAN MOST RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT I AM NOW!

Whilst KB1 went about it in a totally inapprpriate manner, there is a lot of truth in what he says. EOC sucked, except fot Until We Say Goodbye and Clouds Race Across the Sky, because it's like Joe was trying too hard to do someting different. But from what I've heard of the new record, which isn't a lot, it sounds killer. So far, every album has been better than the one preceeding it (except EOC), but that wouldn't be hard after NOTE. CP kicks ass, The Extremist kick ass, the self-titled album kicks ass (except for Cool #9 and Killer Bee Bop) and Joe is going from strength to strength. As for using obscenities? Who cares - some people just aren't very articulate, I guess...

Matt King - Well said, about the whole scale thing. There are loads of people to learn from on this site, especially Clarky and your good self, but it doesn't really matter what stuff is called. If you're not having to teach any body else then you could just call each scale #1, #2, #3, etc. so long as you remember which one is which, right? But say you get famous and have an interview at Guitar World and they say "So, what scale do you use for this solo?" you can't just say "Oh that's scale #1400 with a root note of C#." lol

phrydom --- thanks for putting up so much cool stuff!!! unfortunately, i can't seem to access them, i clicked on the link you posted but there was nothing there; am i doing something wrong??

I definitely would put SBM under rock as it doesn't seem to fit elsewhere. But such categorisations are for convenience's sake and doesn't necessarily dictate how good the songs are; if it's good music, it's good music, no matter what. Everyone should realise that nobody would want to put out the same album 10 times in a row or whatever. I wouldn't say i love the SBM songs as much as i love others but it still sounds great to me!

Hey!

Webmaster fella! Thanks for putting the 'Joe Messages' button up after my suggestion - talk about speedy serviice!

KB1 my friend- everytime WITHOUT FAIL that I have heard one of Joe's albums, I never fully appreciate it as I always remember Joe's last album and compare it to that. What you need to realise is that every album he has released is stylistically different to the last and is FRESH. He would get bored out of his mind (as I'm sure many of us would) if he released more of the same each time. I'm sure he could do it. I'm sure when he's practicing, he wails away like a loony playing things that sound like straight rock tunes that would still blow us all away. The fact is, he is growing, he's in a different space when he creates each album and he's sharing his journey with us, as honestly as he can.

Unfortunately for him, it's then out of his hands whether or not you like what he's released. He is, in my mind, one of the only artists around who tries to move on, innovate and re-invent himself regularly to provide real music that is from his heart, and not written to make easy sales for people stuck in the late eighties and early nineties!

You are entitled to your opinion my man, and all power to you for it. But I go along with the other posters who suggest putting CP or Surfing in your CD player if that's what you want to hear!

SBM took me 2 listens to get into it (I heard it for the first time yesterday and can't wait to buy it on the 25th!) - and my opinion is that the title really does sum it up. It's not Rock. It's not Techno...

...It really is STRANGE BEAUTIFUL MUSIC!

Peace to all. The sun is shining in London!

Happy rehearsing Joe and the boys.... Sukh

Master Yoda, and yea,.. people in general I have to confess I didnt like EOC either. But if Joe recorded those songs again without being so attached to the computer sounds, it would be a lot more different. If he arranged all those songs to be played live with guitars, bass and drums only, you would notice the high quality. I mean, I love Borg sex live, it makes me high, but it sounds like a wet rotten tuna nailed to a wall on EOC, sorry Joe...

And about SBM? Thats another story which I will enjoy to tell someone some other time. End of today's philosophic flight :o)

bold text HEY EVERYONE!!! AUDIOGALAXY IS DEAD!!!!!! JOE - I TAKE IT YOUR PLEASED THAT THIS HAS BEEN SHUTDOWN AS IT ENABLED PEOPLE TO ACCESS YOUR MUSIC BEFORE ITS LEGALLY AVAILABLE. BUT ON THE OTHER HAND..I'M NOT HAPPY AS ITS WHERE I GET MY MUSIC :(

REGADING THE SCALE I WAS GING TO GET FOR YOU LOT..IT IS A PHYRIGIAN DOMINANT #7 ... A VARIATION ON THE PHYRIGIAN DOMINANT SCALE WICH IS DERIVED FROM THE HARMONIC MINOR . IT IS THE 5TH MODE OF THE HARMONIC MINOR SCALE.BUT SINCE IT HAS NO b3 NOTE IN IT..IT IS NOT A MINOR SCALE.

Hey Joe! I got my 5 tickets yesterday for the show in Houston in Row L. I can't wait, this will be my second year to see you there. If any other members are going to this concert, email me, and let me know, maybe we can meet each other at Verizon Wireless Theater. Take care Joe, and all you hard core Satch fans.... I think this automatically post my email, but if not it's KriztalPlanetCreations@Hotmail.com.

Wow, so much controversy as usual on this page. First of all, Webmaster, thanks for all the effort you keep putting in to make this site better and to meet our requests!

Now I for one will never criticize anything that Joe puts out. Everything that he does is straight from his soul and is true, and I can't complain about that. Whether we like it or not, Joe is not making albums for us, he is making them for himself. His recordings best represent where he is at that time in his life, playing, etc. We could have a poll where 100% of the votes were for "jazz" and Joe would still release a pop album if he was so inclined at the time. If he tried to give us what we wanted all the time that would be fake and the music would not be good. Whether SBM is "rock," "easy listening," or whatever is not the issue here. We have two choices: we can either embrace Joe's work, try to get out of it what he is trying to say, and appreciate the art whether we end up enjoying the album or not, or we can complain, not give his work the time of day, and be close minded. I am going to choose the first, and I hope you all do the same. And I hope I like SBM, which I think I will.

On the first day God created earth and water (?) and, seeing that was ok, on the second day re-created earth and water, and totally satisfied with it, on the third day re-re-created earth and water..... and so on! KB1: I think the concept is clear, isn't it?

Ymob: no good luck to me, I'm italian!!!! But I hope Spain will be more lucky than Italy against Korea (and, of course, against referee...... hahaha!!!)
