JS Clone 1: That was pretty catchy what Paul Gilbert was playing...
Rik Emmett just released a 20th Century Masters CD with all his best solo work and also some Live Acoustic Versions of some classic Triumph tunes; among them are Hold On, Lay It On The Line, and another I'm not familiar with. Can't wait to buy that!

Joe, first i want to say thank you for all the creative and inspirational music you continue to give your fans, you are simply the best. I hope you keep the G3 tours going, If you take suggestions on artists to join the tour, I would like to suggest Frank Marino. I have been listening to Frank since the mid 70's and think he would fit right in with you and Steve Vai. Just listen to his new CD" Eye of the Storm" and you will see what I mean. Thanks for listening Joe.

Found this crappy post at Circuit City. Laughable !
What's a guitar hero to do now that the masses prefer electronic beats and rap-metal to killer scale runs? Joe Satriani seeks that answer on Strange Beautiful Music. Satriani set himself apart from other would-be kings of the six-string in the 1980s by combining impeccable technique with great feel and pop hooks. With those qualities, he produced great guitar-driven albums like Surfing With the Alien and Flying in a Blue Dream. On his 2002 release, Satriani tries to make his music fresh by incorporating world music influences and a bit of techno flava. To his credit, he succeeds more than he fails. "Belly Dancer" combines straight-up rock riffs with Middle Eastern-twinged melodies and faster-than-sound runs up and down the fretboard. On "Oriental Melody," Satch's world music sensibility shines with the help of ping-pong delay and keyboards. He still has a knack for great hooks, too, as is evident on "New Last Jam," which features a melody that bounces around in your head for days. But none of these tracks approach the pop brilliance of his Surfing With the Alien songs. In many ways, the experimental nature of songs like "What Breaks a Heart" hark back to his Not of This Earth release. But Strange Beautiful Music suffers from inconsistency. While the mix-and-match approach works on "Belly Dancer," it can also result in the bland discontinuity of "Chords of Life," which at times sounds like "All Along the Watchtower" and at others resembles scale and chord exercises from Yngwie Malmsteen -- not an enticing combo. And "Starry Night," while a nice ballad, feels like an attempt to rewrite his masterful ballad "Always With You, Always With Me." ~ Michael Gowan, All Music Guide

Can you believe Target doesn't have any of Joe's CD's? That's like my favorite store. Is that a Joe decision or a target decision? Oh well....

In the DVD , Joe says (speaking about Stuart Hamm) : "They stoo (I don't know if it's the good way to write this word) him 'cause they love him !"
Can someone give me a synonym of this verb and explain the reaction of the audience ?
Thanks

Kda - That's a Target decision. They usually only have the newest album by most artists. Most Target stores only have 2 or 3 isles of CDs...they can't afford to have older stuff take up shelf space.
jofdm - If someone does something good, you cheer them on. If someone does something bad, you usually shout "booo" at them...that's what we do in the US, anyway. If we (in the US) like someone whose name rhymes with "booo", we cheer them on by chanting their name instead of just yelling randomly. We're weird like that. So, following what I just said, on the Live In San Francisco DVD the crowd yells "Stuuu" at Stu Hamm. To the average person that doesn't know what's going on, they might think the crowd is booing Stu. So Joe's comment is letting the crowd know that we're actually cheering for Stu ("Stuuu-ing" him)...we're not booing him. "They Stu him cuz they love him..." = "They chant his name because they love him..."... Make sense? Sorry for the very long explanation...
Well...goodnight, everyone...

Joe,
So I'm on a vacation/business trip in SIngapore, and yesterday as I'm leaving my apartment to see the sites and whatnot, I close my door and I hear "The Crush of Love". I had my discman with me, and I thought it had turned on, and so I put my head next to my back to see that was the case. It wasn't. What it was is the next door neighbour blarring the LIVE IN SAN FRANCISCO DVD!!!!! I knocked on his door and he answered, and we started talking about the music and whatnot. I told him I would be seeing you in Arizona (since you won't be doing Vegas, which would save about 8 hours of driving time, but Salt Lake City is a no go :( ) and this guy was SO jealous!!! So I'm sending a little note to say that from Salt Lake City, UTAH to SINGAPORE, people love your music enough to travel long distances. Hopefully something can happen in the future and we won't have to travel so much. Hopefully I'll be able to get a copy of a bonus track while I'm over here in this part of the world before I head back to reality. Have a great day!!!!!!!!
TE KOI SMITH
