Hi everyone...

Chess Music - Use the "mark read" feature...the site is much better with the posts in the order that they're in now.

paradigm shift24 - Stu has his own solo career...4 solo albums and a few side projects. He has his third disc coming out with Frank Gambale and Steve Smith...

PhrygianDominant - The poll results were available while the poll was going on. I think it was roughly 70% for a rock album, 25% for a blues album, and 5% split between other things...

Al Surfer - I've heard you mention more than once that Lance Armstrong is a Satch fan. Where'd you find that out? I've heard it from a bunch of different people but never from an interview or something. Just wondering...

JBLAZE1:Glad to hear you're enjoying living in Fla. I love it here myself, there's nowhere else I'd rather call home. I'll be working on a Ford motor plant shut down starting on the 29th of this month in Norfolk,Va(hopfully). The job should last for at lest 2 weeks and as always when I'm on the road I'll be working 7days a week 12 hours a day. After that I'll be home for a while, maybe. I brought my BR-8 ,JS-100 and Gibson Acuostic with me to Boston and came up with some good idea's,loneliness can bring out alot of emotion when song writing. I only wish I were as good at writing lyric's as I am at writing music I'd be somebody.I'd really like to meet a singer who is good at writing lyric's. That's all for now, glad to be back. MIND STORM ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!

hey folks, just wanted to quickly reply to a few questions/comments that i caught.

viewing just joe posts - a fine idea and one that is now easy to do. there's a new button on the top that you can click on (Joe Messages) that will display all of Joe's posts. as other guys in the band post, i will probably add links for them too. once there are a lot of them, i can easily add an advanced display option to also limit it by how old the posts are. in the meantime, joe's only had time to post once so far, so this is sufficient.

i also made it so you can click on the N posts total text to view all messages for any poster.

bonus tracks - yeah, of course it'd be great to include the bonus tracks on the us release, or even make them available on the site, but alas, there are many many reasons behind the curtain of the major label record industry that often interfere. i personally also love the bonus tunes, so maybe if you all add them to your setlists, you can show Joe you'd like to at least hear them live :}

desktop themes/winamp skins/etc - i don't have the time to put such things together, but if any fans put some together, i'd likely create a section for people to download them (or at least link to other sites to get them).

requesting mindstorm - different radio stations have different policies on what they'll play and when they'll play it. a lot of the bigger stations will actually have playlists controlled by one person for hundreds of stations and that can be hard to push your way through. however, sometimes you can find a dj who has the power to play what they want, or at least pass the news on that people are calling to hear a certain song. with that in mind, i encourage people to call their stations and request songs off of SBM. i think you'll get better luck requesting Mind Storm after the 25th. if you're calling a station that plays harder stuff, requesting that might end up being more likely to get played than Starry Night, so use your judgement and remember--- don't annoy them, that'll do more harm than good! just be polite and say how much you'd love to hear the song.

new book - as michelle and a few other folks noted, the book joe was talking about indeed is a book on streaming audio. the part that makes it relevent to joe is that i profiled the use of streaming audio on www.satriani.com so it's a nice plug for the site. if you have no interest in streaming your own audio, you probably won't miss much, but if you do, check it out-- it's good for novices as well as folks who are familiar with it. more info is at http://www.fezguys.com

colors for band members - i think for the time being i'll keep it a surprise that you'll see when/if they post. i bugged jeff and matt to drop in and say hello if they have time, but as joe said, things are gearing up for the tour so everyone is real busy.

SBM release date - i've been told that the release date of the 25th is indeed worldwide.

pending ttj improvements - this is the list of things that are on my to-do list for ttj. any of these you don't need to bother asking for, since they're now already on the list. set timezone for date display, store last read in your member profile instead of a cookie, and add a few more configurable options such as being able to set the number of messages displayed per page and also choose to display them oldest to newest or newest to oldest.

ttj vs. bboard - yes, ttj is how it is instead of a fully threaded system because it's what joe and i decided gives the best feeling of being immersed in the community. too much structure gets in the way of that experience that we want to support.

rehearsal pic - i threw together a quick collage for y'all to check out. /2002/road/2002-rehearsal-collage.jpg

THEN I WENT TO THE RENOWNED ENGLISH LANGUAGE SCHOOL IN SOFIA,BULGARIA, THEN TO THE MUSIC ACADEMY. I'VE PLAYED IN A LOT OF BANDS AND GROWN A REPUTATION I'M PROUD OF.NOW I AM TO BE THE STAGE MANAGER FOR THE FIRST JOE SATRIANI CONCERT IN BULGARIA! IT LOOKS AS IF ALL HAS BEEN CAREFULLY PLANNED SO MANY YEARS AGO. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE MAN MOST RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT I AM NOW!

Whilst KB1 went about it in a totally inapprpriate manner, there is a lot of truth in what he says. EOC sucked, except fot Until We Say Goodbye and Clouds Race Across the Sky, because it's like Joe was trying too hard to do someting different. But from what I've heard of the new record, which isn't a lot, it sounds killer. So far, every album has been better than the one preceeding it (except EOC), but that wouldn't be hard after NOTE. CP kicks ass, The Extremist kick ass, the self-titled album kicks ass (except for Cool #9 and Killer Bee Bop) and Joe is going from strength to strength. As for using obscenities? Who cares - some people just aren't very articulate, I guess...

Matt King - Well said, about the whole scale thing. There are loads of people to learn from on this site, especially Clarky and your good self, but it doesn't really matter what stuff is called. If you're not having to teach any body else then you could just call each scale #1, #2, #3, etc. so long as you remember which one is which, right? But say you get famous and have an interview at Guitar World and they say "So, what scale do you use for this solo?" you can't just say "Oh that's scale #1400 with a root note of C#." lol

phrydom --- thanks for putting up so much cool stuff!!! unfortunately, i can't seem to access them, i clicked on the link you posted but there was nothing there; am i doing something wrong??

I definitely would put SBM under rock as it doesn't seem to fit elsewhere. But such categorisations are for convenience's sake and doesn't necessarily dictate how good the songs are; if it's good music, it's good music, no matter what. Everyone should realise that nobody would want to put out the same album 10 times in a row or whatever. I wouldn't say i love the SBM songs as much as i love others but it still sounds great to me!

Hey!

Webmaster fella! Thanks for putting the 'Joe Messages' button up after my suggestion - talk about speedy serviice!

KB1 my friend- everytime WITHOUT FAIL that I have heard one of Joe's albums, I never fully appreciate it as I always remember Joe's last album and compare it to that. What you need to realise is that every album he has released is stylistically different to the last and is FRESH. He would get bored out of his mind (as I'm sure many of us would) if he released more of the same each time. I'm sure he could do it. I'm sure when he's practicing, he wails away like a loony playing things that sound like straight rock tunes that would still blow us all away. The fact is, he is growing, he's in a different space when he creates each album and he's sharing his journey with us, as honestly as he can.

Unfortunately for him, it's then out of his hands whether or not you like what he's released. He is, in my mind, one of the only artists around who tries to move on, innovate and re-invent himself regularly to provide real music that is from his heart, and not written to make easy sales for people stuck in the late eighties and early nineties!

You are entitled to your opinion my man, and all power to you for it. But I go along with the other posters who suggest putting CP or Surfing in your CD player if that's what you want to hear!

SBM took me 2 listens to get into it (I heard it for the first time yesterday and can't wait to buy it on the 25th!) - and my opinion is that the title really does sum it up. It's not Rock. It's not Techno...

...It really is STRANGE BEAUTIFUL MUSIC!

Peace to all. The sun is shining in London!

Happy rehearsing Joe and the boys.... Sukh

Master Yoda, and yea,.. people in general I have to confess I didnt like EOC either. But if Joe recorded those songs again without being so attached to the computer sounds, it would be a lot more different. If he arranged all those songs to be played live with guitars, bass and drums only, you would notice the high quality. I mean, I love Borg sex live, it makes me high, but it sounds like a wet rotten tuna nailed to a wall on EOC, sorry Joe...

And about SBM? Thats another story which I will enjoy to tell someone some other time. End of today's philosophic flight :o)
