Good Morning everybody...woke up listening to SBM and what I can say is that there is another amazing effort by Joe..as long as he has recorded..for me, no one record seems to stand above the other..I can't say a favorite..and his work always comes out amazing..!! I have Steve Vai to thank for introducing me to Joe..with a lil ad in several guitar mags back then, regarding the Surfing album..you no what I mean..also my love of comics..and noticing the Silver Surfer..One more thing and i'll shut up..when Joe last played here...on the Extremist tour..he hit Surfing..and this screen behind him were these killer Marvel paintings, The Hulk...Capt. America..Silver Surfer among others..something like Tim Hildebrant or something awesome stuff...remember that Joe..?? oh yeah baby..I would love to see that again..if haven't seen it folks..you missed something special...anyway...if my friend Scott Young reads this...email me dude..I know you got my Stu Hamm cd...!! master yoda of neilage! - well, some of the summer i'm free, term ends on the 19th July (day after satriani) The week after that is a good time though- problem is my amp's just gone faulty- i got a bad high/low power switch :( Let me know..

Chords of life Starts out with a soft tune with Mrs. Vai on harp, some classical stylee changes go on, after which you hear inversions of arpeggios played by Mr Satriani, which brings you into the acoustic guitar chord theme of the song- plenty of parallel fifths, as it goes Gm F Eb Dm Cm all in root position. Still, I don't think Joe's trying to copy Bach :) Joe then comes in with bluesy guitar on top of those chords, then a new chord sequence comes along with some pretty fast, high bluesy soloing, which then breaks off into the harp and soft tune theme again. Again into what I assume are the "chords of life" and the bluesy guitar, which continues until fade out. Lots of different feels in this one, very nice tunes.

A bientôt j'espère.

it is Stu not Boo (Austin) --- thanks for all the reviews of the SBM songs; keep them coming!!!

I think that Oriental Melody is a kicka$$ tune and it's definitely one of my favourite tunes on the new album!! The intro is solid stuff and i love the tone on it; I wonder what effects and amp he's using on that?

Belly Dancer : great tune as well!! uplifting stuff with an exotic twist! The solos are fresh and exciting! towards the end, he's playing a solo that's using a lot of alternate picking which is rare for him right? ( ok, i admit it, i'm a guitar player)

Mindstorm is my favourite cos currently i'm in a mood for heavy riffage and i play it every morning... hhahahah!!!

I was lucky enough to get a copy of SBM at HMV on the 25th... unfortunately, i'm not lucky enough to see Joe perform in person....keep it real guys!!

I just can't believe some of you had trouble finding a copy of SBM. I went to Best Buy on the morning of the 25th and while they did not have copies of it out in the JS section, they checked their inventory, had 6 copies and went to the back to get me one. Made my day! :-)

To: Stu Not Boo--Thanks for answering my post on JS merchandise. It would be cool, though if there was a swag section on this site. Especially for some that can't or won't be able to make it to a show.

its a sad day for the who fans i send my condolences to the band and johns family...i saw the who in october 2000 at the NEC and they were amazing...john was a legend..R.I.P

Is this loop still going on the SBM album cos i haven't heard it..it kept stopping and atrating on this website and the other thing that some-one mentioned didn't do anything...?

Get A Loaf , i will try mindstorm , here we go...its starts of with a Bm chord with hammer and pull of on the top E , the main riff then starts on a 7 string guitar , A Bmaj chord with hammer and pull off on the A string at the 4 and 5 and 5 on E , the main melody then starts , then at 0:43 , 6 guitar tracks come in all harmonised together , in Live gigs , joe will use a harmoniser cos no way would ahe and a rythmn guitarist would be able to do that. Then another bit of lead in whatver key it is...then joe uses a glass slide on the top 2 strings to get that strange sound from 1:52 to 2:06 , then he goes into a C# maj and min sweep picking then into an Am pentatonic maj7 scale in the next bit...at 2:41 he repeats the opening Bm chord with a high B (19 fret on top e) , at 2:49 , he then repeats the main melody section heard earlier in the song including the harmonising bit and then the ending is a B chord hit 8 times..there we go..not too hard was it? :)

We need you down here in New Orleans (House of Blues)! I noticed from your tour schedule that you'll be in Texas. You're just a hop, skip, and jump away from us. Please stop by!

thanks

michelle: great minds (across the pond) & all that ! We are obviously the (not so ) technical group around here!

Everyone's views are valid, right?!

austin: here goes on Oriental Melody & Belly Dancer: Oriental Melody: Nice moody start & good introduction to the album. This tune reminds me a bit of Pink Floyd in its mood. It has a smokey, hot afternoon oriental feel about it.Then it breaks into some unmistakable Joe guitar......driting back into that laid back melody, & soft drums. Abrupt ending...

Belly Dancer More typically Joe start, a bit satch boogieish...then bursts surprisingly into lovely eastern melody line, & almost classical sounding guitar. Follow on is reminiscent of Steve Vie melody, & guitar work. Really nice, I like this track. Mad ending with crazy base & guitar......

sorry, have to go on... Starry Night Truly one of Joe's most beautiful melodies. Im glad this is going to be the single. Its a classic. So sweet & such a beautiful guitar tone, so consistently lovely. Maybe a bit Claptonesque, but how can that be a bad thing? I love it!

OK , thats it, How am I doing here?
