Hey Kev EOC the title track is my fav on the album as well but, Clouds Race Across the Sky is Definetly Second. Flavor crystal 7& attack are towards the bottom for me, & yes there are a couple peeps here who said something bout Orienal Melody bieg Lack Luster, let me tell you it Is one of the best on the cd! Joe had the opening lick Since 95 & I am glad that it finally got around to us this time Cause It Rules! yeah Crushing day is cool but Why would be orgasmic to hear live.

I dont know if all you guys know this or not, but the new Guitar World has a big article on Joe. He talks about the new album and his home studio. There is also a poster of him. I put it up on my wall right next to Jimi.

Does anyone know what chords Joe uses in Chords of Life (during the main part). And is it just me or does that part sound alot like a slowed down version of ELO's "Fire on High".

Master Yoda - It's been recorded for quite a while now. I've sent it to a few people already.

I am still awaiting authorization for my iuma site. It's taken longer than they said it would. Drop me an email if you're interested in hearing it sooner than iuma cares.

Sweep Pick - Any modifications or features on the JS series are 100% up to Joe. Ibanez has no control over Joe's signature model.

Alien32 - Funny you should mention EOC. I spent about 4 1/2 hours in a car today and thought I'd give EOC a few spins. It went from my 3rd least fave (although I love every JS album) to tied for my fave with SWTA and just a nose ahead of CP. I'd have to say the best track on that album and out of all of Joe's compositions would be Clouds Race Across the Sky. Absolutely and without a doubt some of the most melody and lead work I have ever heard from any musician. . . . As a matter of fact, EOC shows off some of Joe's best lead, melody and song arrangements ever.

EOC is not to be bashed, even by people who aren't fans of techno. At first I was terrified that I wasn't going to like the rest of the album half way through my first spin ever on Devil's Slide. The more I listened, the more I heard Joe in the music. It really comes though as some of the best lead work you'll have the privelage of hearing.

IN A NUTSHELL, EOC IS GREAT BEYOND WORDS. Joe, your techno experiement did not go unheaded.

One thing I have to mention which is one of the coolest things in the history of Joe's music: In 1988, in a Guitar Player magazine, there was an interview with Joe when Surfing was released and in this magazine there was a soundpage including The Crush of Love and the first ever recording that anyone would hear of THE POWER COSMIC. In that portion of the interview, Joe mentions that it reminds him of a sort of electronic ambience. Amazing how 11-12 years later, he writes a song that expresses just that.

JS Clone 1 - I know what you mean about EOC, it truly is great. Great melodic feel over the top of some pretty out there chords. SBM has all that melody and more, but with some real groove. But not so jazzy chords in general.

Master Yoda... I'm sure we'll meet up in the line on the 18th... you standing up at the front? race you to the front of the queue.. ;)

Why aren't we allowed to say negative things about EOC? Who cares? People don't like it, some completely hate it. No reason why they can't post the way they actually feel about something, while we fill the site with "Joe rules!" comments. As long as it's somewhat intelligent and not "EOC sucks man!!," I see no problem. What is considered to be Joe's best or worst is your own opinion, not someone else's. If you hate EOC, say so. If you dig it, say so.

Master Yoda - Vincent Van Gogh did Starry Night originally...hehe.

death cube k / Ya Yo Gakk / Bullster - Congratulations on the first "What the f...?"-peat.

stu hacking - If I changed my nickname to Stu Hamm I would confuse everyone on this site...haha.

Vetteguy43 - According to someone's post from a while ago, the acoustic chords in Chords Of Life are: Gm, F, Eb, Dm, and Cm. Listen to the track...you double some of them, but you basically go down and up in this same order...

...Austin...

Invigor - Heh my longest post on T2J ever.

Evbro - I wasn't saying that no one could say anything bad about the album... even though I said couldn't be bashed. Yes people will have their reasons for just not liking it but it does have some of Joe's best playing on it. Fans of Joe should at least respect it that much.

I've seen the EOC bashing in here and thought I'd put my two cents in. As a younger, newer Satch fan (I bought my first Satriani albums - LISF and EOC about a little over a year ago), EOC was one of the first experiences I took in. I must admit that after listening to LISF, it was hard to swallow the dance, techno grooves of EOC. The tones were also very, VERY contemporary and in your face. The first 3-4 spins, I hated the whole album, except for "Until We Say Goodbye", a true gem in my opinion that gets overlooked by a lot of people. However, the more I listened, the more tracks I took a liking to. First, "Devil's Slide". Then "Borg Sex". Then "Clouds Race Across the Sky". "Champagne?" "Attack"...and all the rest soon followed. After listening to what amounts to a vertible Satriani "Greatest Hits" (Live in SF), I was shocked by the man's artistry and total grasp of an entirely different realm on EOC. "Clouds Race Across The Sky" is an unbelievable track, in my opinion, whether you like techno, shred, neither, or both. Joe's objective with EOC was to, perhaps, prove that techno music still had room for the virtuosity and musicality that a Joe Satriani brings to the table. The genre isn't all about beat boxes and layers of synths with overdone effects. Whether you like techno/electronica or not, you have to admit that EOC was a dynamic display of Joe's ability to take a stylistic approach far from the norm for him, and still, when you pop in that record and listen, it is unmistakably a Joe Satriani album. Phew...I apologize for the long post, but I had to get that off my chest.

Boyd-- maybe i missed your post, been waiting to hear your opinions on SBM, personnaly i think Oriental Melody is awsome, I still can't decide on a fav though, I like the whole thing so much.

Clone 1-- well said on E.O.C. if you go back though the archives about 2 years ago I posted on the day of Its release saying I thought it was great, and i absolutley hate techno stuff, But for some reason I never thought of it as a techno record all i could hear was Joe's playing and kinda tuned out the rest i guess..

im not a huge fan of Cosmic part 2,.. Ok ...that song drives me nuts, for some reason I can't listen to it, but part 1 is killer I love that short little song I wish it was 5 miutes long.........

Fav song on SBM? Its gotta be track #12 The Journey. Incredible tune. You have to go deeper into the album, so dont just listen to Oriental Melody and Starry Night over and over. It so original, after this many albums Satch dosent simply remake the same songs over and over but manages to come up with original melodies again and again. Oh, and EOC is a great album. Fans seem to want him to just keep remaking SWA for the rest of his career, when he starts making albums for the fans and not for himself he will be finished as an artist

BRAD12090- i know what you mean, that sucks bad...i wanted to see joe on the crystal planet tour but he played at a club called the 4th & B here in san diego and they said you had to be 21 no exceptions, i got pissed then sad...perhaps promoters don't realize that probably around 30 % (likely, probably more) of joe's fan base is under 21...and any percieved "profits" from the sale of booze in a 21+ show would EASILY be surpassed by ticket sales at an all age show...thats why i think some venues want 21+ shows cause they figure with no minors they can sell a ton of liquor...chalk it up to greedyness.

Hi, Joe! Just a quickie to tell you I was in Van Saun Park in Paramus, NJ at a butterfly exhibit with my girl and what music do I hear piped over but...a smooth jazz version of "Always With Me, Always With You"! Talk about wild! I said to Melissa, "Their playing JOE!!!" The butterflies loved it, too! All the chords, arpeggios and basic melody were there but they changed it a little and had like an alto sax playing the melody with acoustic guitars and keyboards in the background. What are the chances? Totally awesome...definitely heightened MY enjoyment! I'm falling more in love with Mountain Song every day, too - thought you should know! Well, I'm off to another job interview tomorrow so I gotta get some rest. Time for some rockin' JS in the car, that's for sure! Good luck on tour Joe and I'll see YOU in Jersey!

HEY JOE- i got a question, i was watching a show about roller coasters and the new technology they are employing to make them bigger, faster etc and they showed the one from disney's california adventure called "california screamin'" or something like that...it's the one that loops around mickey's head...they were talking about how it uses electromagnets on the rails to power it from 0 to 55mph in 4 seconds then they went onto how it has this soundtrack thats pretty tame at the beginning and then when the coaster takes off it goes into as they said "a surf rock guitar soundtrack" and it sounded pretty satch like to me, wah wah, distortion etc etc....so i was wondering if you had anything to do with that? just an offbeat question but that'd be cool if you did haha....

JS Clone - That's all well and good, but it is Mak's comment you are referring to, not mine!

There are some things on EOC I am not a huge huge fan of, but there is some stuff that is absolutely beautiful that I really love, and that more than makes up for anything I don't enjoy as much. That is my honest opinion of EOC.
