Well Joe, I've been a fan and admirer of your music since the beginning, and I must say that SBM is, with out a doubt, the absolute best collection of sounds that you have ever done. I'd tell you my favorites........but actually, they are ALL my favorites. It's just so completely overwhelming from beginning to end, with supurb production throughout. You simply never cease to amaze me, and I think that's what I like about you the most. On behalf of all of us in this forum, I want to thank you wholeheartedly for everything you've done for us, by opening our ears to the kind of music that is possible in the capable hands of a true artist, by inspiring those of us who play the guitar to even greater heights, and setting the benchmark for all of us to achieve. You've come a long way from those days when you made those first solo recordings out of your own pocket, to the pinnacle of greatness you so rightly deserve. May you continue to show us the way for a long time to come..........See you in Camdon on September 8th.

What's the deal with the album not being released in Canada until September? Is there a mistake? It says worldwide release on June 25 at the start of satriani.com. I don't understand this, and I'm not really too happy about it. Someone explain please.

Hey I have a question about the setlist. Song #1 means that it is the first song I would like to hear Joe play in his set or does it mean that it would be the number 1 song that I want to hear Joe play? Thanks.

Much improved Talk to Joe section. I like!
I've been tuned in to the listening party for a while now, and this could well be my favorite, or my second favorite Joe album yet!
I have a BIG, HUGE, TREMENDOUS, IMPORTANT, IMPOSSIBLE-TO-ANSWER QUESTION FOR JOE!:
You started out GREAT. But you only got better over time. It seems to me that you have shown a steady, progressive improvement with every album, both as a guitarist and as a composer. The latest is no exception. Personally, I find your last three albums to be your best. This is good! The question is, how do you keep it up!? Is it something that comes naturally and you don't think about it, or are you constantly practicing and critical of yourself?
BTW, while I have your attention (if I do!!) I'd like to say I think your tone and phrasing are always divinely inspired - but, these too, seem to have improved, and I prefer the new Satch to the old Satch. As good as the old Satch was, he's put to shame by the new one!!

Joe,
SBM is your best ...and I have 'em all. When I received the SF Live DVD for my 40th birthday, all I could think about is buying an Ibanez JS1000...Guess what? thanks to GC in Santa Clara CA, I now can only dream of playing as fast as you on my new "Satch" model. Hope to make it to Concord in Aug for your show (an autograph on my JS1000 would be sweet hee hee...) Now back to playing Mountain Song......Yes!
Peace,
Richie Lee

Well I've gotten a few listens in and the verdict is in - He shoots he scores!!! Joe does it again! Sick, sick album. At first I wasn't sure what to think of it. I thought to myself, "gee, this is some strange but beautiful music... Wait a second!!!" It is so raw and emotional and great!!! Lots of different styles but a coherent feel to the record. I wasn't a big fan of What Breaks a Heart at first, but that reggae section makes it all worthwhile. Oh, and Joe, you wanted to know some tunes to play live? Well I think Starry Night and Mindstorm are kind of givens now, but BELLY DANCER must be played live!!! It would be amazing!!! I'd like anything from SBM though. Kudos to the whole crew for a kick ass CD!!! One of your best.

Love the new album Joe. I was happy to hear 'Sleep Walk' on the CD. I think many people nowadays have forgotten it. That one is real personal for me, everytime I hear it, it brings me shivers; it's such a great one. I think you did a wonderful job with it. Could you share some of your personal feelings on that one with us? Thanks.

Joe is the man! Give it up for JOE SATRIANI! I can't wait to see the Satch himself along with friends Dream Theater and King's X on tour this summer. I'll be there at the Rosemont Theater on August 28 at 7:00 p.m. My friend is coming along, too. He's a big fan of you. It's great that you're choosing to play such an awesome song as, "Crushing Day". My friend says that is his favorite Satch song and he'll be surprised when he hears you playing it live. He asked me if you were going to play the song. I wasn't sure but now I am and I like what I have read. Good decision, Joe Satriani. You're worth a lot more than the $40 ticket I paid for.

Joe, you never fail to inspire and amaze me or anyone else on this board, I believe. There are some truly amazing, emotional songs from past recordings (Saying Goodbye comes to mind immediately), and other artists have some very good songs in this same style (Steve Vai's "Whispering a Prayer" speaks to me as well). However, you really outdo yourself on this new record. I was skeptical after listening to some of the clips. However, once I heard it all together, it al made sense. I had planned to come on here and write a huge, amazingly long, beautifully detailed synopsis of why SBM is simply the most amazing display of emotion and artistry and virtuosity all rolled into one that I have ever beared witness to...but I figured that three words would say it all. WOW!!! Thank you!!!

Hi everyone. I wasn't able to read Talk To Joe earlier today (like normal), so this is going to be a long post. Sorry about that. To keep things shorter, I'll wait a day or two before I give my "review" of SBM.
nicesky - If you wait by Joe's bus after the show, he might come out to sign autographs.
KhakiCoalition - I've never heard of Joe doing a workshop like that...sorry.
disassociative 1 - I bet there will be a merchandise booth at all of the shows.
evbro - If you want to find a post by a specific person, click the "n posts total" button under their name. :-)
bullster - The sweatshirts might be available once the tour starts. I hope Joe or someone has been paying attention to this page and knows that there is demand for them.
Ya Yo Gakk - Yes, the Eric Johnson DVD is audio-only.
Chrome Lover - Don't do that!
vesel - Stu is doing solo work...
Ibztone - You can put your set list in any order that you want. I have it arranged as the order I would like to hear it...1-16 is set 1 and 17-32 is set 2. I think the way it works is all of the selections get thrown in a database for Joe to look at, so order doesn't matter.
...Austin...
