Well, what can I say about the new album? I think it's cool that the title is taken from "third stone from the sun" on Jimi's first album "Are you experienced?"......"Strange, beautiful, grass of green.. and your majestic silver seas....your mysterious mountains I wish to see closely..may I land my kinky machine?"
Since obtaining my copy on 25th June from the Southampon branch of HMV i have played it quite a lot. Not only does my darling wife Julia and I love it to bits BUT my teenage daughter Emily has taped it to take with her on her school trip to Spain. Far out-when I was her age I HATED the music my dad listened to!
Great that there is a Shadows track "sleepwalk" (perhaps "Atlantis" for the next album-hwhen you're ready), but above all , thanks Joe for another complex, melodic, varied and listenable album. "You saved my life" is just SO lovely, but there are so many "STRANGE BEAUTIFUL" guitar moments-well just thanks for doing it again, Joe. Look after that family of yours, and LIVE LONG AND PROSPER.
See ya at Shepherd's Bush Empire.

jofdm - If you win aftershow passes, you pick them up at the venue box office (will call) before the show. Your name should be in your profile here on the site, and the webmaster gives that name to the venue. You have to show your ID to the venue staff and then they give you the passes.
Prog X - Army green M&Ms? I like it...LOL.
Andmjones - "An evening with Joe..." means that you get 2 sets of Joe Satriani music. No opening bands, just 2 1/2 hours or so of JS songs.
JS Clone 1 - I can't hear the voice. I'll listen with headphones later though, hehehe...
hfob - I understood all of your abbreviations there except for one. What is ATD?
alien32 - That's cool...I love it when I convert people to Satch.

Joe! I absolutely love the new album. I think I have listened to it at least twenty times now. If I hadn't found you back in 89', I really don't think I would be here today. It seems as though your music is the only thing I live for now these days. So I hope you find some comfort in knowing as long as your alive, I will be too. I just wanted to thank you for being such an inspiration. My feelings can be best described by the last song on your new album. "You Saved My Life". Thanks my friend. Your fan for life. Aaron Hill

So I've finally done it.... last Friday I moved house from Kent to Berks [UK].. this weekend I'll be just about ready to rebuild my studio [so that I can carry on with the new album - I'm ready to start writing track 6].
So far this place seems to be a pretty nice place to be..

neil morgan - sounds sweet, I do wish I could have been there, but that video sounds great. Maybe when we meet up for some jamming you can show me your brilliance for real.
I'm seriously out of practice at the moment due to my amp breaking, and me automatically practising more on the piano, and composing on sibelius to make up. I think I better go practice now.
Oh yeah- anyone here a Stravinsky fan? I'm on a romantic and later art music voyage and am listening to petrouchka at the moment (also firebird, the rite of spring, symphony of psalms and pulcinella). Great stuff.

Loowho- "I just moved my painting supplies into a big old barn, its got a cathedral ceiling and lots of north light. I'm just so excited. "
You paint too? What kind of painting? I recently got into the romantic period of art, you know witches, fairies, knights and such. I paint with brushes on canvas though I am learning airbrushing too.
Still can't find any help on how to paint on this guitar body that I bought.
Cheers

Hey guys, I got another guitar technique question...hope it is o.k. to post here, I'm pretty stressed about it.
I play modes and stuff 3 notes per string, doing two octaves. Some kind soul directed me to a better fingering, and I made the adjustment.
The problem lies within the hand position. Some modes are more difficult to play than others (e.g., Aeolian). Is it better to barre the notes and sort of not move my wrist at all or better to sort of gradually move the palm of my hand toward the neck when I'm playing them?
Any assistance is greatly appreciated, and I wish I could show some people, but I'm at a disadvantage 'cause there are 0 guitar players around here. Thanks kind souls, and Happy 4th of July.

Invigor - The human hearing range is 20hz - 22,000hz.
But never the less, other people have heard it. Seriously. You need to really listen careful. It's no obvious thing. It sounds quite mysterious which is why I bothered bringing it up.
