Things are looking up ladies and gentlemen!

On the semi-formal front, almost all the people I spoke to were impressed by my "interpretation" and complimented my wit. My work there was done, and I hadn't even physically done anything. Heh heh heh.

Well, unfortunately semester number 6 starts tomorrow, and then it's re-assessment time at year-end. (Not rear end btw.)

Come on SBM! Come to Australia!!! (Joe you can come too...)

Hi I just wanted to tell you that you inspire me daily to be the best I can. I feel like now that I'm almost good that somehow I sound to much like you but so does Steve Vai so do I suck just because everything I write sounds like you guys or am I allowed to sound like you guys and be still be a good player? I mean if you play melodicly and with a wah you can't help but sound similar I think or maybe I'm just a poser. As you can see I'm confused. Did you ever go through that when you were coming into your own? Feeling like you might be good and then hating yourself because you sound like your influences to much? I don't know what I'm talking about. I just wanted to say thanks for giving me music worth listing to. Matt Holden mattholden.com

Matt, i know EXACTLY what you are talking about. it's perfectly fine, in fact encourageable to play like your favorite players. play what you want to play. that's what is most important. my feeling is you may get sick of someone else's styles, and for me, making up my own licks and playing them (i'm pretty heavily influenced my satch, too) is what i get the best high from. but you also have to know that if you want to get anywhere in the music business, really, anywhere, it's useless to be joe satriani. because, think about it, they already have a joe satriani, why would they need another one? they don't. you wouldn't make money for them. it will kill you if you sound exactly like him. you will be dismissed immediately without a second chance. i know this straight from the source, my guitar teacher is signed by sony. besides, what is the fun in playing someone else's style and material? yeah sure, it's great to learn some really classic soloes, and borrow from the style once in a while, but if that's all you play, you are going to get sick of it. you need personal inspiration. remember joe satriani saying on his DVD that he think of Hendric 99% of the time? well if you think of satch 99% of the time, you are thinking of hendrix 98% of the time. LOL. he said that he fought it at first, when he was younger, but now i guess he lets it flow out of him. so, really, i don't have anything to tell you except play what your heart wants to play, play what makes you happy. it doesn't really matter what kind of music or who's music, if it makes you happy, PLAY IT!!!!

Thanks dude. I have a band thats a totally different style than satch but I write instrumental music because I have to. It's not an option it just creeps out. So my band sounds nothing like satch because we all know it's way uncool these days to be a good guitar player in a band! lol But I love to come up with the instrumentals the most. Anyway thanks for taking the time to write - Matt mattholden.com

Joe, I was wondering, if you might consider playing a date somewhere closer to Greenville,SC? There are a lot of your fans in this area, that can't quite make it to Atlanta or Charlotte. Also, considering in my opionon, that you and Gary Hoey are quite posibly the two finest guitar players out there today, you two could hook up for a show together, what are the posibilities? Look forward to your response, thanks.

LOL JS1, I love the PGM's also!! It's amazing..a PGM300WH costs about $600 less than a JEM77FP!! Same p/u's and fretboard!!!!....It just goes to show you that all you have to do is get a good RG and change the p/u's (but it's just not the same!!!!).....lol, such is the decision a guitar player has to make.....

death cube k: glad your workin' it out with your cast situation! "keep on keepin' on" :-)

YAYO: It's versatile, lol.......

Austin: glad you got your Bass sounding good again....BTW, does SToooooooo use GHS?? (I don't remember)

Megaboyd: Man, I couldn't convince the better half that it was worth $400 (equiv. usd) to take a quick trip up to Mainland (Japan) to see Steve do a few song's with the orchestra!!! I have a good excuse to see JOE if he comes in OCT. though!!!!!!! LOL, "Oriental Melody" is stuck in my head too...And I don't care if it stay's there :-)

Well, everyone in SatchLand have a great weekend...and here's wishing JOE A HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!! I'll bet he can blow out the candles using his guitar and left hand while playing "MPHGT"!!!!!!!!!! l8tr, /\/\ike

Stu not boo I stumbled across your post about the hidden CD in the Vai-box and I just couldn't believe it... naturally, I threw myself at the box and sure enough, after some violent actions involving a pair of screwdrivers, I found it! <grin> I can't thank you enough for sharing that info.... but how did you learn it was there? Did you buy two boxes just to shred the other, in case something was placed there or what? LOL I would never come up with the thought of wrecking a box I bought for $100...... which was what I had to pay for it here in Sweden.

BTW, I finally bought SBM and I thought I would post my reviews of the songs here, matching them against yours and see if they are totally different or not.... :) it will take a few days more, though.

Thanks again!

Matt Holden...You're doing just fine....Play what you want to play. It amazes me that Joe thinks of Hendrix 99% of the time because I hear very little of Jimi's style in his playing (thats a compliment Joe!!) except for the occasional wah wah parts, Joe sounds like Joe in my opinion. I can't pin down who his influences are, so I think that Joe is a modern day pioneer. Last week I was playing some riffs online for a friend in Canada and he told me I sounded like Stevie Ray Vaughan. I was kind of insulted because I try so hard to be myself when I'm playing guitar. As it turns out, that IS myself. Playing those light speed scales and whatnot are fun, but I prefer to play what comes from my heart and not from a tab book.....anyways I'll quit blubbering........SPARROW, if you find one of those hooded sweatshirts let me know, I want one too...lol............Peace, Dave

Alien32 - Luthite is more of a clear articulate tonality with no bottom end response to it. The chrome also has many many reported durability problems and 99% of the JS10th being sold used to collectors have damages. Whether these damages are scuffs, scratches, chrome peeling or bubbling, this guitar is very fragile and is not meant to be a players axe. If someone wants it to be a player's axe then they should just rip all the chrome off right off the bat.

Ovation1 - The neck on the PGM is very similar to the newer style Jem necks (Jem7VWH etc...) Then only difference is that the fretboard radius on the PGM is 430. The Jem is 400 so the PGM fretboard is slightly more curved. Very slightly. Excellent guitars.

Did my video end up getting through to you?

You know.....it would really be nice if Joe visited his own website once and awhile and posted some messages... (joke)

I know, I know, He's busy and on tour at the moment, but that never stopped him before. I mean, since the new website went online, he's only posted once and that was almost a month ago. So either his laptop that he had is on the fritz and didn't take it out on the road with him or he's just waiting until the 1st part of the tour this summer is over and is waiting until he's home to catch up. Anyways Joe..... HAPPY B-DAY TOMMOROW.... You're only as old as you feel dude...

Hey joe! Your nr.1 fan in Norway here. Im currently in process of bying a new guitar, and the ibanez js series is the guitars that appeals to me the most. But my problem is this, the js1000 is a bit to expensive, so it comes down to the js100 or the js700. Not a single person in my local shop can tell me about sound and tone differences between the to, even though they`re 2 very different guitars in both body material and equipment. So i was hoping that you could help me with some information about the 2 guitars, so i have some background information to help select the right one.

I would be very greatful for any help you can give me.

Best regards, Atle Nyberg (norway)
