SBM is a very impressive album by Joe Satriani.
So if someone asked me what guitarist made the most impression, i'll say to that person: 'Joe Satriani' No doubt about that. And if anybody has seen Joe perform Live, They will also be impressed.
Now everybody can express that way of thinking about Joe and his way of playing his music by voting in a Dutch Guitarist Poll. You can find it on http://gitaristen.pagina.nl
If you have found that page, look for the item Top 20 gitaristen which is on the right side of that page. Click on it and you will enter the poll. Now look for the name Joe Satriani and click on the round button on the right side of Joe's name.
Then scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the button which is named 'STEM'. Now you have voted for Joe. And many others have done the same thing. And if we continue Joe will reach the first place in that poll.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Major Tom

You have voted on a Poll, a Top twenty. No more, no less.
If Joe reaches the first place, it means that everybody who voted for Joe thinks the world of him and that he is the best guitarist. No more, no less. In every aera of time there is always a 'best' guitarist; a guitarist who will leave his footprints forever in the history of guitarplayers. First Charly Christian, then Jimmy Hendrix, Eddy van Halen, Joe Satriani.
So it's no more then justified if Joe reached every number one position in every poll in every country. But the Dutch poll is the one I know off. Just keep on voting, and Joe will reach the number one position in that poll.
Thank you
Major Tom

Hello Joe! Your new album is very good (a set of catchy melodies beautifully played both technically and emotionally). However, there are some buts. First of all, it doesn't break the new ground. It reminds me "Crystal Planet" (actually it's much better). You seemed to forget about music experimentation both on the level of individual songs and the whole album. First of all, why don't you explore the technique of tapping? I really miss new songs in the imagery of "Midnight" or "The Headless Horseman". Finally, why didn't you try something comepletely new? Rock ('n' Roll) is maybe not dead but certainly a little bit exhausted. My suggestions are jazz and funk. You haven't tried it yet. Actually, my favourite song from your last album is "Hill Groove". It has got some funky touches and outstandind bass feeling. Other amazing moments in the album: "Belly Dancer" (the ending - blood-boiling!); "Chords of Life" (the ambience is interesting); "Mountain Song" (the rhythm); "New Last Jam" (it'll be surely played many times as a music backgroud of extreme sports' videoclips - simply mind-blowing); "Oriental Melody" (enticing because of its orientalism); "The Journey" (that's why rock isn't fully exhausted);"What Breaks a Heart" (your high-pitched solo does it); "You Saved My Life" (actually my brother's life because he listens to this song almost all the time). Obviously, you can ignore this blah blah blah but that's what I really think about your last album. Take care and fly in a blue dream permanently, RaV :-)

YaYo: I can't believe that picture! What the heck were they thinking? Whose work is that? What drugs were they on? That's a classic, man.
Austin: Is that you!? Crap! You're huge!
I wish the e-card jiggy had /\/\IND STOR/\/\ instead of Starry Night, but nevermind.
Major Tom: I don't care, man. As long as you vary the message now and then, it's okay with me.
Later, BEN
PS, I'm loving the new arrangement for posting links. Makes it heaps easier to check them out. Everyone put all the cool links you find!!!

JOE FAN'S CHECK OUT THIS REVIEW FROM PARIS - LOOKS LIKE SOME FROGS DO KNOW HOW TO SPEAK RUDE ENGLISH. "Great trousers, Joe !! That was probably the best part of the show ... Yes, I was really disappointed with this show. Except for the new songs (which translate really well into live pieces), and the beginning of the second set, the setlist was pretty boring, the solos uninspired, the musicians enthousiasm poor, Joe's communication with the audience poor ... And the sidemen could have been better ... the rhythm guitar player is ok, but ... Matt Bissonnette !?!?! He's not half the bassist and showan Stuart is !! Come on Joe, you could have done far better ... Well, I do realize that it is only the beginning of the tour, but all in all, it was a somewhat dull and disappointing performance, and the worst Joe Satriani show I've seen so far. Did your inspiration dissapeared with your hair"? (FAN Benoit Loup ???????????)

Great tune. My only critique is: The bass and the drums are great but, you're in the background. I wouldn't play around with the hook as much either. Once again great tune.
Joe.
Happy birthday. If you get another guitar cake, I want to see a picture of it.
Are you ever going to come to Seattle again?

heh....this guy in my class works with sony's marketing team (mostly digital cams) and i told him about my hunt for the satch-walkman 92' commercial and he said he works with the same guy who was head of marketing and advertising, in charge of getting the walkman out back then, forgot his name...but he said he's gonna see what he can do about getting me a copy...WOOHOO...i emailed sony a dozen times with no response, even offering to buy a copy...maybe i'll finally get one....yes i might seem nuts but i thought that commercial was pretty cool.
