for the lady with the question about tuning- here is what i do... if it helps you out great, but no promises-- first you use your el cheapo tuner and find E(deep). this may be hard. you are probably to low or down near D somewhere so you have to turn the peg away from you to get the string tighter and get that low E back to normal. if your quick tune is reading A#or B you are too high and need tune down(by turning the peg the other way). once you have the E tuned right you can use the E to tune all the other strings. fret the E 6th string at the 5th fret and then make the second(A string) match its tone. what you are doing is creating an A note on the E string. once you have A you can move from A to D by fretting at the 5th again and you can do the same to get from D to G. once you have those finished you can fret from G to B by freting at the 4th string.(this would be the 4th string 4th fret. once you have the B you can fret the B at the 5th fret to get the high E. once you think you ve got it check and see if both E's are tonally similar. it takes practice and once its mastered this little tool is priceless. so thats how i learned it good luck and if you got any other questions you can email me @ thegoose23@yahoo.com --oh, and hi joe and band--

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, I have made the 2nd largest purchase of my life today...........my very first vehicle. A 1984 Yamaha Maxim. Yes that's right, a motorcycle. I bought it off of one of my friends who graduated a few years ago from high school. Bought it for $1,000, half the price of my JS 1000. I think I just realized the quality of that instrument now, when I can buy a fully functional vehicle for half the price. hehe. CAN'T WAIT TO RIDE IT!!!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone... I have a quick intonation question. I changed the strings on my Urge II bass today. I took off the factory strings (Fender strings) and put on some GHS strings. I set the intonation correctly on the A, D, and G strings, but can't get it right for the E string.
The bridge has grooves carved into it for the string saddle to slide closer to or farther from the pickups. The E string saddle is at the end of the groove farthest from the pickups, but when I check the intonation the 12th fret note is still a few cents sharper than the 12th fret harmonic. I can't move the saddle any farther away from the pickup or it'll go out of the groove. Is there something else I can do to fix this? Would changing the action or the truss rod have anything to do with it?
The factory strings ran through the body and I want to have the new strings loaded through the top (the bridge can do both). Also, the factory E string was taperwound 115 and the new E string is roundwound 105. These differences might have something to do with it (maybe in relation to how
tight the truss rod is?), but I don't know.
Should I wait a few days and then try to adjust it again? Or do I have mess with the action or truss rod? Would the fact that the temperatures have been over 100 for about a week straight here in hell (er, I mean Northern California) have anything to do with it?
Thanks in advance for any help...
...Austin...

AUSTIN, yeah, heat has a lot to do with tuning, but i don't think anything to do with intonation. get your truss rod checked, that's probably the problem. use all the same gauge string. if all that fails... ehh.. i don't know what to tell you... that's really all i know....

mr nick- yeah, it would be called different things by guitar players from classical theorists and stuff, they'd probably prefer calling it an inversion of G dominant 13th, since it has the tritone and the dominant. I just called it C major 13th cause it's a chord used in a satch song (devil's slide).
Webmaster - could I make a suggestion as to the mechanics of the forum that is linked in with T2J? Maybe it would work better if the topics were ordered with the ones most recently posted to at the top? Like for instance the forum over at guitar.com. I would personally be there all the time if I didn't have to go through pages of other stuff- I know there is set last message as read and everything but although that method works brilliantly for discussion on T2J I don't know if it is a perfect match for a multi topic, multithread forum.

Clarky - Yeah, that's the guitar I brought with me. I think it's really very nice, too. The guy in the shop told me it was an RG570 Ltd. though... 'Open minded' - funny as fuck, man! Might join you there... Also, do you know if there's a half-affordable car park near by?
Local Person - This is a local forum for local people!!! lol :) I worked out that chord as Amin69sus4 (!?), which is probably wrong though... Besides, it would be impossible to tune a guitar as A, B, C, D, E, F, G - there's seven notes there!
Check out thenew tune at my IUMA folks!!!!!!!!

Ibztone --- thanks for your help!! I was wondering whether the purple pedal was a Flanger or a Phaser...
Prog X --- I think I have to disagree with you about the keyboard/guitar thing; lots of people pay extra money for collectible items e.g. watches, cars, shoes, books etc so the JS10 Chromeboy is more expensive cos there's a limited production run ( 999 made? correct me if i'm wrong). Also, it takes a lot of work to "chrome" a guitar so there's definitely more effort put in to create the JS10 hence the high price. Ibanez isn't just out to make money (i hope). Most people like the guitar to be suited to their tastes in all aspects, including the design/finish, so playing a guitar they think looks great helps (much like driving a fancy car) them to play better!! I play a JS1000 and I love it...
JSClone 1 --- I myself have tried a PGM several times and I find they are really easy to play. Very minimalistic but its great!
Master Yoda --- A 7 string guitar can be tuned A,B,C,D,E,F,G...
Satch3D --- I've heard your music on IUMA and i used to visit your Satriani website regularly and I have to tell you that you're an amazing guitar player!! you give people aspiring guitarists like me inspiration and hope ! hahaha.... good luck at Berklee! just thought i'd let you know...

Have a few long time questions I've always wanted to ask:
I've been wonder what exactly was the inspiration and story behind the title of the song, Borg Sex. The title seems to have some Star Trek back ground or is that just a mere coincidentance?
Another thing that's puzzled me over the past couple years is the line up of the original G3 concert. I can understand Steve Vai but the choice of Eric Johnson has always made me ask why. He doesn't exactly seem to fit the genre youself and Steve play? However I think that his inclusion on the tour was fantastic as I do also enjoy his fusion based jazz rock. I've just been curious as to what made you decided on that format?
Thanks alot from a Long Time Fan...

Hello Joe [JS]... I just wanted to drop you a quick line. I’ve been anxiously awaiting the release of your new CD and I picked it up yesterday. What can I say... “Strange Beautiful Music” is awesome Joe! The first song “Oriental Melody” has that heavy bass and rhythm sound that I love just like in “Luminous Flesh Giants”, which is my “all time favorite” Joe song. The “Crush of Love” is right up there too along with many... many... more. I spent the better part of last night figuring out “The Traveler” which is so catchy! The melody and high notes you hit in the song feel great inside to play and remind me why I love to play the guitar so much! Anyway, keep on rockin... I love all your music! I’ve got every CD you made. I also hope to see you again the next time you visit Chicago. Take care and HAPPY BIRTHDAY a little early! I know it’s coming up, because we’re born a day apart. Ciao for now Joe and good luck with the new CD!

Joe, I can't wait untill the Clarkston, MI show!! 47 days is just simply too far away! I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Quantum- I looked at the pic you were talking about. So, to try to answer your question I got out my trusty BOSS Catalog!! The pedals from left to right (I think) are....
-2 Boss shifters (FS-SL)
-Digital Delay
-Super Chorus
-Flanger
-Super Shifter
-Octave
- 2 Distorton pedals (DS-1 of course! lol)
I'm not 100% sure that these are the pedals, but it looks like it! Hope I could help!!

Beep Beep!! Hi everyone! Hi Joe!
I stoped by after listening to the long waited and wanted strange beautiful music to post a little message
I've been a Satch fan ever since The Extremist, I cryed the first time I heard Crushing Day, Suffocated with emotion when I heard Flying in a blue dream, passed the last three year of my life getting inspiration from Crystal Planet, and I'm one of those people who only wants to listen the master peaces or nothing... So after EOC, I've steped a bit backwards to it cause I didn't really like backround music but the guitars were great, so I've been looking arround for other flavors checking out some other stuff, like Tony Macalpine, Micheal Angelo, And finally Dream Theater and LTE.
So I've been pumpin up the Juice inside me with Dream Theater most the time...
And now that Strange Beautiful Music is in my Stereo, I have to say that I can hardly feel your expression like before Joe.
I have the strange sensation that you ain't puttin in all you have like before.... Even though you are still one of my Fav guitarists, but Joe , a little advice get back your self some crazyness, cause you Rock! Peace!! VR
