JuanSatanic666, those pickips are Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates. they sound great, don't they? i think they match the guitar beautifully, but Ibanez refuses to put Seymour Duncan in any of their guitars. i wonder why. i love Seymours....

Juansatanic666.....they are Duncan "pearly gates" pick-ups....personally, I don't think they have the "nuts" required to handle Joe's style....but if he likes them, that has to count for something.....

Sparrow - I was kinda joking when I said that, man... Besides, I reckon that doodley stuff would kinda ruin my guitar, even if it was done by Joe. The signature is more than enough for me, and the photo of us side by side, which came out brilliantly, is stupendous. Now there's a word I haven't used in a long time. By the way, I'm sorry if I came across as a bit of a wanker when I said "guitars aren't ornaments, they're musical instruments - play the fuckin' thing!" after you told me those guitars had never been played. It's just smoething I feel quite strongly about...
Paul Huxley - I can bring a guitar and an amp, but it'll have to be an evening thing I'm afraid, as I just got myself a full-time summer job driving ice cream vans. Unless I can blag a day off... But I don't know why you mentioned Worthing - I don't live anywhere near there. I'm in Hastings, East Sussex. Maybe I could throw an e-mail your way with my mobile number and we could sort something out that way. Incidentally, you could have got a lift from me to Gatwick if you'd asked...
L8r, Neil. I feel worthy now - MY IUMA. Check it out.
Over and out.

I just wanted to say that I was at the gig at Shepards Bush Empire on the 18th and it was awesome. Unbelievable. My first time seeing Joe perform. The venue was fantastic. I loved the intimacy of it all. And Joe, you were unreal. I have never enjoyed a concert so much, I had a tear in my eye . Your music is really special. Thank you and keep the good stuff coming.

I was wondering if anybody that saw Ned Evett open for Joe in the UK could post a little more info about how his set went. Maybe a little something from Joe. 8-) I would really appreciate it. I would have loved to have been there, but couldn't make it. If anybody has any questions about his hardware I can answer most of them. Have a great day

evening sounds good neil, tuesday, wednesday or friday i could do (wednesday would be trickiest though since i have a cricket match). do email me
I had surfing with the alien in my head all day today when playing cricket. And I did my best performance for ages, 35 runs, one run out. Nice stuff.
After the gig on thursday it really struck me how much Joe is out there playing to make everyone have a great time. I mean i was in the front row and he made a point of making it obvious he was thinking about everyone in the front row for at least one note ( I got two opening phrases of surfing). All the guys were really trying to get everyone a really great time.
They could have just played the music and no one would have complained. But they didn't just play it the best, they really delivered to the crowd emotionally. AWMAWY was brilliantly soulful, far better IMHO than the LISF grammy nominated performance.
The rest of the band was awesome, my drummer friend loved the bass and drum duet, he noticed jeff wince when he hit the rim accidentally.
This was the london gig by the way.
Next time the band come to England I'll probably be at university. Scary.

Wah Wah - I saw you, you were only a few feet from me, we managed to get to the front again at Birmingham, what luck, took my two lads this time, they were just blown away, my youngest's face was a picture, Joe acknowledged us at Brum and in London, he looked straight at me as if to say yes I'm looking at you, I waved and he smiled back. Absolutely priceless.
Joe was brilliant again last night and he is now in Manchester giving you northerners your turn.
Anibur - couldn't you have rugby tackled that guard or was he just too big. We were downstairs in London on the front row. Only got a bit crushed towards the end when some were trying to catch the picks and Jeff's sticks.
Paul - hope you get your piccies sorted, thanks for the tip on the messages etc I'm sorted now.
Naty - I'd sack those servants if I were you, they must be Joe friendly.
Love to everyone.
Satch is just the best that ever was.

michelle - LOL... Well, I'm leaving on Wednesday for a week (the road trip part of my vacation), and I won't have any internet access then. So you can beat me to the answers then.
DragonBassist - I posted the chords for Chords Of Life in a post from a few weeks ago. Look through my past messages and you should be able to find it.
strangebeaut - The AmEx presale thing is CC's doing, not Joe's.
JS Clone 1 - It was an American Express presale put on by Clear Channel, I guess.

I saw Joe a couple of weeks ago in a brilliant gig in Athens, Greece. Thanks Joe for skipping your break to play some more awesome guitar like "Midnight", which I never expected to ever see being performed live. Thank you for a great night, and please come and visit our city again as soon as possible. We love you here.

Yes, here's that message again. But first just a few words about the concert. It was a great show in Amsterdam. And I was very pleased that I met Joe after the show. But also the tourmanager and his personal manager. They are all very nice people. I think that everybody worked hard to get the show done right. So what more could I ask from all the Fans than just VOTE FOR JOE in a Dutch Poll. Joe is seeded the second guitarist in that poll. And the goal is to get him on the first place. AND YOU CAN HELP ME OUT, TO GET THAT DONE. How?? goto GITARISTEN.PAGINA.NL then goto the right side of that page and look for the item TOP 20 GITARISTEN which is underlined. Click on it and you will enter the poll. Then look for the name Joe Satriani and click on the round button on the right side of Joe's name. Then scroll to the bottom of that page and click on the button which is labeled 'stem' (means VOTE). When you have done that, you will see the results of the voting in a colorfull schedual. Please do so and Joe will reach the first place.
Thank you for your cooperation.
John Saelmans a.k.a. Major Tom
P.S. You can vote every day and help to increase the number of votes for Joe

Has anyone ever tried the EMG-81 and 85 pickups, if so what did you think about them. Another question for anyone who can answer, do you know how to get that awesome harmonic sound Zakk Wylde gets. I can get a artificial harmonic sound, it just doesn't have any sustain and i cant really bend it without it losing its sound. I know he doesn't have a floating bridge on any of his guitars, so that can't be it. I'm thinking my pickups just suck.

Pakihaki Actually, I think Joe practices guitar ;)
MrDjoonzzz I think Stu is doing some solo or studio work at the minute. dunno if he'll be back or not.
The local person I like it when bands make an occasional mistake (like jeff hitting the rim) it reminds us that they're not perfect, and sort of inspires me.
New guitar in 2-3 weeks!!! can't wait!!

I now have some low (and lower quality) photos of up front and personal at shepherd's bush (some of which have been cropped unfairly due to the camera not winding on properly)- two files got corrupted though, so i'm going to redo them in a minute, and scan the pictures of the queues in...
If anyone wants to see them e-mail me on my public email with an obvious title (otherwise it'll just be deleted with all my junk mail). I might upload some of them in a bit but they're pretty low quality so we'll see what other people have got.
Edit: JS Clone 1- your thoughts on SBM seem to be very similar to mine- I totally agree about What Breaks A Heart, even though it was a more artificial than inspired joe song (as he said on the listening party in a roundabout way), it is thoroughly awesome.

stu_hacking I hope I don't sound too personal, but I just had to say this about your "girlfriend" post.
'... I had one once' LOL I agree that if she tried to stop you from listening to Joe, you're better off without her...... You need to find someone, if you haven't already, who actually likes guitars and the sounds they make. There are a few of us out there after all..... Just keep looking! ;) \\ Eva
