Bullster

I also know that Joe uses Dunlop pedals, mostly 535q. I think that he's sponsored by Dunlop so it kinda makes sense. www.guitargeek.com shows the equipment used by some players.

Mybrainhurtz

Are you aware of CDNOW, AMAZON, YAHOO and other sites that sell albums online or are you reffering to something different?

Kda

I agree about the Back to Shalla Bal comment. If you are talking about the part I think you are I just noticed it recently and what he's doing is playing the same arpeggio pattern based on the chords G, D, A, E using the wah. If you know music go to www.satriani.of.pl to download the tab.

JS Clone 1

that wouldve been my guess. Dont count on Joe changing the setlist. It would mean rehearsals and I think he's in the proccess of catching a breathe right now.

Vette guy 43- Tablature books and tab's online usuly come out 6 months to a year after the record has come out! Unless you can find it out yourself. In that case post it on a Tab site and make us all happy! lol

Bullster- As far as I know Joe uses an assortment Dunlop Crybaby Wah's (mostly GCB-95 and 95q Wah's). But, on this tour it look's like he has a Ernie Ball wah in his live rig.

Bullster --- I believe a few years ago there were these Jim Dunlop ads featuring Joe using the 535Q wah pedal.... however, in interviews, Joe said that he actually prefers to use the older Dunlop wah pedals with smaller circuit boards; also, he mentioned that he changes between dunlop wahs all the time.

Sweep Pick --- Did you see Joe use an Ernie Ball wah pedal at a concert? Or in the photos for the SBM tour? that's really interesting and i'd just to know how you know....

Additionally, i checked out this month's Young Guitar (Japanese) magazine and it has Steve Vai on the cover with an article on Joe inside as well; too bad i can't read Japanese!! hahaha....

STU HACKING - actually it is impossible to play "why" without a harmonizer. not only is there not enough frets available on a JS1000 to accomodate the fourth up interval, it's also really really hard to bend two strings at the same time and maintain the correct pitch on both of them. i am referring of course at the point in the melody when he does some high bluesy bends with the harmonizer. i don't think satch likes using harmonizers, he likes to get his tone from his fingers as much as he can -- in this case he couldn't....

Bloody marvelous. Today while I was at work I dropped my brand new mobile phone into a bucket of hot soapy water, and, needless to say, it died on me. That was a waste of £130...

PhrygDom - I know I'm a bit late, but If Joe's music was a place it would be the English Channel: It can be beautiful, it can be violent, it can be hot, it can be cold, you can float away on it, and at times it's really fucking dirty...

Neil.

I rediscovered Crystal Planet last week. My original copy ate it on the floor of my truck while commuting. It's so awesome! Joe, you are a continuous source of re-inspiration for me!

First Satch concert was Cow Palace 1990, opening for Steve Miller. All Joe's gear got ripped hours before the show and they were playing with borrowed gear! And they rocked so hard!

Now, Greek Theatre on the 10th! Ohhh Yeahhh!

In light of my earlier post I feel the need to expand:

It might have seemed too brash to openly ask if joe had done drugs... I personnaly believe that he is too intelligent and too big a family man to do such a thing

A question arose on jemsite.com about Joe's health (at which point I noted that Steve Vai will be young forever -watch this space-)

It was asked whether there was the possiblity that he did drugs during the 80's to which I and several others said was probably a load of rubbish...

If anyone feels the need to reply could you email me your thoughts?? cheers

SEVEN STRING SLINGER though i would hate to think of joe as a drug user, what else can you draw from those insane compositions? it is entirely possible that he did all of that neat stuff as sober as a priest but doesn't seem probable...then again it would be nearly impossible to be a user and maintain the focus and drive joe had to make it....my conclusion = he was clean....with maybe a little mixed in on occasion

edit: is joe playing AWMAWY on the tour?

HONK IF YOU'RE FROM A COMMONWEALTH COUNTRY

When is the webcast coming online so that I can watch it? Soon? Plus, does anyone know if the Steve Vai DVD is going to be any good? All I've seen of him is on G3 and I want to know if he has moved his style forward since 5 years ago or is he one of those "stuck-in-the-eighties" guys? You know how much I hate it when people are "stuck-in-the-eighties"...

BEN

PS does he still have a mulletesque hairstyle?
