Michelle - thanks.

LooHoo, suppose you are right, age is just a number. Just makes you feel old when your son turns 20, didn't seem that long since I was 20.

Non-smoker - birthdays do make you think of what you have/haven't achieved. Happy 33rd birthday.

Austin - back to your usual help us all self. Had a good holiday?

Have a good weekend everybody.

LOL Sharon

Hey Sharon,

Don't know how this makes you feel but:

This is the only year of your life were you are TWICE as old as your son!!!

Enjoy - remember, this makes an excellent disciplinary statement.

Sharon My mom will be 49 in November. When she turned 45, me, my dad and my brother gave her a tattoo for a gift, which was something she had wanted for some time. She now has a major scorpion on her right shoulder (since she is a scorpion herself) and a couple of months ago she had a dolphin made on her upper left arm..... Now she is hooked! My dad is hoping she's not getting any more than these two..... he's afraid she'll be looking like a biker..... LOL It felt pretty weird having a mom that got herself a tattoo before I did..... But it's cool and I totally respect her for that. So go for it! Just be careful to pick something with a value that you feel will last for the rest of your life.... something out of Joe's world, perhaps? :)

Dragonchild, when my sis turned 40 she got her belly button pierced. She already had 2 tattoos, so she went for hole punchin'. I don't think I'll go that route ~ I'll stick with tattoos. I have 9 so far (one's a cover up), but I don't look like a biker chick (in my mind anyway) ~ not that there's anything wrong with that. If you see me in jeans & a t-shirt, you'd never know I have tats. I have them where I can show them when I want, & cover them when I "need" to (ankle, back, upper arms). I enjoy tattoos (no shit, huh?) and think of them as permanent jewelry. My daughter says she wants to get the same angel tattoo that I have when she turns 18. She still has 4 1/2 yrs. to think about it. lol!

Sharon ~ GO FOR IT!! Just make sure you go to a CLEAN, well respected place, and check out their previous work. Most importantly, make sure you & your tattooist have the SAME idea about your tattoo.

Anibur, we just had some wicked storms come through, so it cooled off a smidge. This heatwave is supposed to last until at least Wednesday. ugh!!

HI JOE ~ LOVE YA!!

Joe : Now I listen to most of your albums side for side. Just two exceptions on two albums. Sometimes I skip over Trumalum...and usually Sleepwalk. love that stuff, but not always each time. Still hve my fingers crossed on the guitar givaway. If I ever get to go to see you live, I'll plan to log on to meet you back stage. Take pictures, get monikers etc. Clarky has got a great sound. Love to hear him and Mister Mindstorm himself. From Austrailia. Just a suggestion. Break a leg the 11th. GB KTF

(the last of the old stuff)

Hi everyone. I am completely caught up, as of the end of this post. I'll follow this post with another one that's about my vacation... On another note, congrats to Lance Armstrong for winning his fourth consecutive Tour de France. I don't think that was mentioned here.

Joe - It's cool to hear that you got to jam with Deep Purple. I'm seeing them in LA tomorrow night.

Everyone - Go to www.thehighwaystar.com and you can read some recent reviews from the show Joe did with Deep Purple. And for the newbies that might not know the connection here... Joe played guitar with Deep Purple in 1993 and 1994, filling in for Ritchie Blackmore before Steve Morse joined the band.

Anyone with the link - Now that Joe is visiting the site more often, maybe someone should repost the link to that page full of the funny Joe pictures.

Mr Smith - Joe's first guitar was a Hagstrom, or Hangstrom, or something similar to that. I'm sure someone else here knows for sure.

dragonchild - I'm going to see Deep Purple, but it's their show in LA...not the one in Reno that Joe was at. Man, that would have been cool to see.

housefullofbullets - I was just in St. Louis (vacation) and saw a billboard advertising the show every time I would drive down the freeway. It was cool.

platinumskeleton - You can find two versions of tab for Tears In The Rain because there are two versions of the song...the original version on The Extremist and the live version on Disc 2 of Time Machine. You won't ever find tab on this site, but you can find some of Joe's tab books at www.amazon.com.

JS Clone 1 - You almost caught me, but I still have the most posts...LOL. ;-) Anyway, to answer your question, I think the guys in Deep Purple gave Joe a call ahead of time. Joe wasn't really planning on it...if he was, he probably would've had one of his own guitars...ya know?

mrshades - You should be able to buy the JS hooded sweatshirt on tour this summer.

MMMindSSStorm - Grow up.

trinityv3 - I don't think there are plans for a G3 2001 CD or DVD.

2 TON TESSIE - Look through my post history... I did a daily song by song "review" of SBM.

bob cock - Joe's first EP was titled "Joe Satriani" and was released in the mid 1980s. Joe's 1995 album was also called "Joe Satriani". Joe's new album is called "Strange Beautiful Music". All three of these albums have absolutely nothing in common (other than the fact that they're all JS albums, LOL). Only 500 copies of the original EP were created. The original versions of four of the five songs on the original EP were included on Joe's Time Machine 2 CD set. The first song on the original EP (Talk To Me), could not be included on Time Machine because there were some problems with the master tapes. You can find that song (sourced from vinyl) on Morpheus, though. As far as what you bought...it's not the EP, as that was never reproduced on CD. What is the track listing? Maybe it's a European import.

Ya Yo Gakk - Stuuu!

For Adun - I imagine the webcast will be hosted by Quicktime, just like all the others...so I'm sure it will be available in that format.

rappellbuttes - Joe isn't playing in Sacramento this time around. I'm kinda bummed, but I'm seeing him in Concord on 8/11. That's the closest show.

Ibztone - Yeah, going through everything can get tiring. I wonder how I do it...LOL.

Hi... Thanks to everyone for the welcome back messages. I had a ton of fun on my vacation. I'm back at home in Folsom now. I went to the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame (Cleveland, OH), a Cleveland Indians baseball game, the Baseball Hall Of Fame (Cooperstown, NY), and the Football Hall Of Fame (Canton, OH).

The Rock Hall was a ton of fun. There is so much cool stuff there. They have a Jimi Hendrix surround sound theater room...have you been there, Joe? LOL. There were two floors full of John Lennon stuff. One of them was full of original handwritten lyric sheets. It was so cool to be able to look at that stuff...it's like being inside his head. In another part of the hall, they had on display John's clothes from the night he was murdered. His glasses were there, and his dried blood was still splattered on them. It really sucks that someone had to kill him. John Lennon was awesome.

I got back to St. Louis on Wednesday. My cousin works at a local bar / concert hall, and she got free tickets to see They Might Be Giants. For those that don't know, they do the theme song to the Malcolm In The Middle tv show on Fox. They do a bunch of other cool stuff too, though...they've been around for 20 years. That was a FUN show. It was a small venue, and I was right up front. I met some guys in the band, and got an autograph and a guitar pick. Cool. :-)

jblaze1 - Hi... Go to the road archives for the G3 2001 tour and look at the 7/1/01 Konocti show to see what I look like. I'm wearing the same clothes at the LISF show as I am at this show...except I also had a long sleeved white shirt on underneath the Satch shirt for the LISF show. You can see me on most of the establishing shots throughout the show that were filmed by the robotic camera arm, but the three easiest places to see me are:

1.) At the very end of disc one, when Summer Song ends, you can see me cheering. I wipe sweat from my face as the camera fades out.

2.) At the end of Surfing... on disc two, you can see me cheering as well. The camera is on me for most of the Call And Response. I have a big goofy grin on my face.

3.) During the bonus footage that plays along to Friends, you can see me in line outside the Fillmore. I'm wearing the same thing that I described above, as well as a NY Yankees hat.

Edit - I forgot to mention one thing. I've always found it funny that Sony insists on including complete artist discographies as prizes for their artist contests. They're doing it for Joe this time around, and they've done it for Aerosmith and Ozzy Osbourne in the past. Yet, most people that enter these contests are entering them because they like the artist in the contest...and most likely already have their complete discography. Hmmm... ;-)

...Austin...

hi, joe. i'm one of your fans from indonesia. you might not know my country.

i like playing guitar after i saw one of your dvd's. i got interested in it. but i can't progress more. is it because im too ald to start learning (i started at the age 17, now i'm 19)? and i don't think my fingers are long enough. is there a fast way to increase my speed and techniques? is using a metronome in learning very important?

maybe that's all i want to ask now. by the way, love your new site.
