I haven't read many posts recently, so I'll apologise in advance in case somebody has already written this. Total Guitar Magazine have just done a "vote for your favourite guitarists of all time" competition for their hundredth issue. Joe came sixth, which is really something considering he isn't mainstream. He was beaten by Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Slash and Brian May.

There was also an interview with Joe about SBM. It says that every string on New Last Jam is tuned to E - that's something I would never have thought of.

Hi everyone!! i'd just like to ask how was the performance by Dream Theater? I know all you guys are really hyper about Joe's set and all, but i'm a big DT fan as well and just like to know how you all responded to DT music. No one has said much about them right?

Nonsmoker --- sorry if i'm being silly, but what is a "shamrock?"

christyleena --- amazing stuff! i sorta get what you mean, cos Joe's music has really helped me through some tough times as well. And often, his music expresses feelings i can't find outlets for. Still, i don't really see some kinda colourful laser ight show when i hear his music ( eh Naty?) LOL

hey folks

Nonsmoker Oh....county cork - very nice, right at the opposite end of Ireland from me though :) - I was going to suggest meeting up at joe's next concert in Dublin, but I guess you'll not be there :(

Austin They Stu him because they love him!!

btw - I did my first proper impro practice yesterday and tonight - I went to my gran's and just had to take my guitar, I didn't take any music though, so I just started playing around with chords then playing the notes all jumbled up etc - I tried to play some of joe's stuff by ear (although I wasn't that great or fast, I was pleased that I didn't use tabs) :) Please humour me, I know a lot of you guys are superb guitarists in TTJ :)

Seems odd that people who visit this page don't mind paying 35+ bucks to see a 3 band show (for example, the Dio/Scorpions/Deep Purple show), and yet they feel "cheated" by Joe doing a triple bill. Now, could this be because Joe has accustomed us to another show format? The very first time I saw Joe was in 96, the G3 tour. For the past 6 years I have not seen him play with other BANDS, so that might be it. (I know he toured with Derek Trucks, so I ain't saying he hasn't done it; I just didn't see it).

Personally, while I really enjoyed the Evening with Joe format, I saw it live 3 times, and I can put on the DVD whenever I feel the urge for 2+ hrs of Joe, so I'm really looking forward to this tour.

Now, if the winter tour has a setlist that includes less than 5 of the songs on the DVD, that would kick major @ss. At any rate, I guess for now it's better to enjoy King's X and Dream Theater while we're there. I'll admit that I really like DT, so my opinion is probably biased.

Hi to all and to all a good night. SEE YOU WEDNESDAY JOE!

DREW - thanks for answering my post. I have an ibanez js1000 guitar with a lo-pro edge bridge. I use earnie ball .09 strings. My picks are pretty heavy, just under 1.00 thick. The strings always break about a half an inch away from the bridge, even though thats not where I pluck the string. I usually wrap the string around the tuner head one to two times, tune, then lock. Thanks for helping with my problem.

another thing on the subject of tattoos - I'm thinking of getting one in novemberish.

I think I would go to a female artist though - not that I'm a pansy, but i think the quality would be there and it would be a lot cleaner.

just my opinion :)

i was highly dissapointed with the show.... kings x sucked, dream theater sucked...joe was good, for the 4 songs i saw...but humphrey's sucked the worst, first we get jacked up at the entrance because my girlfriend had a digital camera in her purse, then we go put it away and come back and the gate-nazi warns us that he will kick us out if we have snucked it in, once inside we had to listen to 2 sucky bands for like 2.5 hours until joe came on, then after his second song my mom tried to go up to the stage to ask joe for a pick and the stage-nazi almost tackled her...i dont know about you folks but something doesnt feel right about paying $437 + $35 x3 for 3 shirts to watch a concert at folsom prison...and this was all after i drove like a bad out of hell from phoenix to make the show in time...needless to say i wont be going to see another live concert again....that includes joe....nothing against joe, but the venue nazi's suck....and i told the gate-nazi he was a nazi and he said "what?" and i yelled" nazi" right at him....blah

i left after joe's 4th song....i couldnt stand to stay there.... $550 for a dinner....wasnt even all that good...

PhrygianDominant, gruskada, whojackafibby:

Thanks for the heads-up. You've officially ruined my day.

I'm adding this comment about an hour later:

Fortunately I backed that part of the spot with Crush of Love and it was pretty easy to re-do that 7.8 seconds only, so it did not turn out to be the major pain in my back side that I expected it to be.

By the way, Hey, whojackafibby! I thought that I had a wierd username, but I believe I've finally met my match in that department.

Just a quick note for anyone that is attending the Concord 8/11 show...

Find me on the LISF DVD or right here and be sure to look for me at the show. I'll be the tall guy in black shorts and the navy shirt. I may or may not be wearing a navy CSULB hat (it depends how hot it is).

The show starts at 7:00, the gates open at 5:30, and parking opens at 5:00. Because I have pit seats, the best time to look for me would be in the parking lot before the show. I'll be there right at 5:00, in a 1997 white VW Jetta.

Don't be shy...it'll be great to meet some people at the show.

Austin

Hi Joe,

Just wanted to thank you for making another GREAT album. I love the Mountain Song (and all the others)! Sorry to see you can't come to Las Vegas this year. I saw you twice there and both times were awesome. In the last 5 years I have not seen any musician out there give us so much quality production. 3 albums, a stellar live DVD, and touring. All I can say is thanks for giving me another reason to be! Thanks Joe and crew!

Christyleena, Joe has a way of somehow reaching down into your soul and pulling up a rainbow. Glad you found something that helps.

Dave, I was thinking it was going to have to be a pretty big shamrock to go on your arm. You could actually get a Celtic braid to make your new tat a bracelet type thing (if that doesn't sound to wierd). I told you the arms weren't to bad. LOL!

elpp, I was thinking the same thing (except the "see you Wedenesday" part) LOL!

Stu Hacking, being a good tattooist doesn't depend on what sex you are, but if a woman makes you feel more comfy, then go with that.

Ya Yo, sorry to hear you got snagged. Those security punks can get pretty nasty. I had one take my disposable AFTER I snapped about 20 pics of Joe & the band with it back in 2000. He said "gimme da camera er I'm gunna toss ya out!" I handed him the camera and yelled in his face "YOU SUCK!" I was so upset I didn't even hear the next two songs. I went after him after the show asking him for my camera back. He said he didn't want to take it because it's more paperwork for him. I told him if he would't have taken it he wouldn't have any f'in paperwork and again asked him to give it back. Then another musclehead came over & asked me to leave. I had a GREAT time in spite of that guy, and met Joe outside after the show too :) The reason I was SO mad was because I was in the second row, and there were at least 20 ppl. hanging their (real) cameras over the fence in the front row, but he took my disposable. I'm sooo sure he didn't throw it away. It all worked out anyway because my friend Mary G. snapped off a whole roll! lol! Sorry you didn't have a good time.

Hey Joe, I finally bought SBM! And I must say that whoever ripped you off and posted it on the net, did a lousy job of converting it to mp3 and posting it... Because the sound quality is far superior to what I heard before!

I truely believe this is your best all around rock record to date!

Of course I think that every time I hear new music from you!

It must be hard to top what you've already done Joe, I really don't know how you do it, all the new fresh ideas to explore...man! can't wait to see some of this new stuff live! See ya August 31st!

Well, its roughly 2 weeks until the Aug. 24th show here in Atlanta and I am hoping to God there will be a break for me to see Joe. I am 1 year from the 21 mark and this 21+ concert is ripping the hell out of me. I have been listening to Joes music since Surfing With the Alien came out. I have been waiting for years and years to see Joe and now that I got the tickets for the show, I find out this 21+ bullshizz-nit. I dont know what to do. I hope Joe gets to read this and responds but he seems way to busy right now. I will still try EVERYTHING possible to get in. Who knows, I might go to jail and have a record for wanting to see my favorite musicain. I dont see why they wouldnt let in all of us Die-Hard Satch fans who live his music in. Plus I got SOOOOO excited when I found he was doing CRUSHING DAY. There must be a wormhole or way through this problem!!!!!
