hey everybody I'm back- I couldnt read all 1320 or so new posts so i skipped.. I see there's some stuff about the enigmaitc scale- do you know where it comes from?

If not- a music journal in the 1800s sometime posted a scale they invented and challenged composers to include it in a piece. And Verdi did, with the choir singing up and down the scale and inventive and fdifferent harmonies from the accompanying instruments each time- or something to that effect.

Joe, I truly enjoyed your show this past Sunday night at the Concord Pavilion very much! Thanks so much for a wonderful night of listening, as the concert was my 1st year anniversary gift from my wife and I have wanted to see you in concert for some time now. ~Greg~

Joe... what an incredible show in Denver. I'm still in awe. I don't know what to say. It was moving, powerful, it touched me more than you will ever know. That was the first time I've ever seen you live and I couldn't think afterwards, all I could do was wrap the experience around my soul, let it linger in my heart and drive quietly home. It was such an indescribable experience to see my two favorite guitarists in one night. JP was flawless, I've always been a fan of Dream Theater, and you were heartstopping. Your presence on stage was a spiritual experience. Your guitar playing and mastery of the instrument is inspiring yet at the same time it made me want to quit... how could I ever hope to acheive that kind of greatness. I wanted to go home and burn my guitar. :) I hope some day that my band makes it under the big lights and that we could talk and even jam some time. I think at this point the highlight of my life was this past Tuesday in Denver. To make it big with my band would only serve to, hopefully, bring me closer to the true highlight... getting to know you and jam with you. You have touched me to the core of my being.

Thank you so much,

Drew

WHAT THE HELL!?!? I WENT YESTERDAY TO GET A REFUND FOR THE $90 TICKETS TO JOE'S CONCERT, BECAUSE THE SHIT-HOLE PROMOTERS MADE IT A 21 AND OVER ONLY SHOW. TICKETMASTER SAID THEY WONT REFUND MY MONEY. WHAT A RIPOFF!!! THIS IS REALLY STARTING TO TURN INTO A BIG JIP. I NOW REFER TO TICKETMASTER AS TICKETBASTARD OR TICKETHO. THIS REALLY TURNED INTO A BUNCH OF CRAP. OH WELL. LIFE REALLY SUCKS RIGHT NOW. I HATE MY LIFE

Hey Joe! I just wanted to say thank you for coming back to Albuquerque last night. You did an absolutely phenomenal show. It was seriously the best concert I have ever been to. It just sucked that they were forcing you to end at 11:00. I know you would have played a lot more if you had the chance. Thanks for playing 'Crushing Day'. That is one of my favorite songs. And I though 'Midnight' was awesome. This was the second time I've seen you in concert, and hopefully it won't be the last. Best of luck on the rest of the tour, and I hope to see you here in Albuquerque again sometime soon. Take care!

Tommy

Dude, everyone really should check out that Fozzy rock thing, I don't know who this guy is, and I honestly can't tell if it's meant to be a joke or what, but, knowing how great dream theater is, it's pretty funny to hear a nameless guy try and make fun of them... (no offense intended to fozzy fans)

jblaze1: I respect your opinion and I thank you for respecting mine. I am not beyond reproach and I don't think anyone else is either.Your point is well taken.

Clarky: I am sorry if what I wrote sounded overly aggressive, I tend to be a little sanguine at times thats just part of who I am, but I stand by what I wrote. I want you to know that I don't consider you an enemy and that I would have said the same thing to a friend, so please take it with a grain of salt and not to heart.

Phatman: I didn't like the EOC album as much as the others, not because I doubted the effort or the talent but because joe went in a direction that I'm not a fan of.

dragonchild: I will respectfully keep my tone in check from now on.

ovation1: I didn't challenge Clarky's right to opinion only that I disagree with it.

regarding the newsletter-- if you didn't get one, first make sure that your preferences has the box checked for receiving them. if it does, mail me and i'll verify you were on the list of people who should have received them.

if you received more than one copy of the message, send me full copies of each message (including the headers) and i can try and see where the problem was. also make sure you don't have more than one account registered that might result in multiple copies.

don't worry if you can't check into the webcast on friday-- each part will be up for a full week before the next part replaces it. and even then you can see it all at the very end for 2 days. :}

and no, qt5 won't work, you need qt6 because it uses the new MPEG4 encoding.

last, but not least, i added a br and hr tag to ttj posts. br = line break and hr = horizontal rule. put 'em in [], like the other tags. :}

ok, i lied .. *really* last, but not least-- until the *real* new chat is completed, i'm going to put up a temporary one which isn't tied to the member database but is the same as used on vai.com. it should be up pretty soon and i'll of course post when it happens :}

PhyrDom: the sounds are working now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!aaarrrgghhhh.computers! Thanks for making mine more useable..............

Everyone: HELLO AGAIN! One week away, 2 weeks catching up on posts :)

Clarky: brave man to express your opinion. I agree the artwork on SBM was disappointing after EOC, & also I thought the title was a disappointment after all the wonderful suggestions.

However, it took me two years to get into and appreciate CP, so I reserve judgement on the content, but I do know that I loved several tracks on this album immediately, like Seven string, Hill Groove, the Traveller, and I think the album itself is definitely a progression and takes music to a new level....

Awesome show Joe!!! -referring to the Albuquerque gig...I knew you would come out and play some more....after mystical potatoe groove, when everyone cheered I was shouting "Play one more, Joe!" from your far right at the front...I know you would have gave us a few more jams if the stupid curfew thing wasn't in effect...that was my third time seeing you live and I brought a friend who had a blast, too. Excellent improvs on the Crush of Love ending as well as new parts of Midnight that flowed nicely. I like how every time i see you live, you change a little part of some songs to make it different. I HOWEVER WAS HIGHLY BUMMED THAT I DIDN'T GET TO MEET YOU WITH A BACKSTAGE PASS....but I'll live...next time....aight? Cooool. Peace.
