michelle - My younger brother was watching the X-Games earlier. They do some pretty cool stuff.

wingnut007 - I play a Fender Stu Hamm Urge II through a Korg ToneWorks PX3B into a Fender Bassman 60 kickback... I want to get some more bass effects but I'm a little low on money. ;-)

Good Day to you, you slick-fingered six-string syncopant of sonic ocillation, it's me again... heh.... i was just sitting here.. listening to Surfing With the Alien(my fav album of ALL TIME) :) and the thought of a hint of a question or two banged into the finger controlling of my brain so here is #1, cause i cant hold it back any longer..... What Possessed you to write such an obviously inspirational work such as Hill Of Skulls... How did this song come about?.. What could have happened in your life that you wrote such a soul wrenching sonnet of pain? ok so its actually three.. i lied...tell ya what .. ill be your roadie for free for one of your tours, cause i like.. lied n stuff... sound like a deal? this song has made me do crazy things with my guitar i never would have done had i not been intoxicated by those screams and wails inside the depths of my tattered skull i have started three seperate really good jam thingymabobs while reeling from the effects of that song... (all of which are recorded and are currentlybeing worked on) and Fineally How in the world do they get the caramel into the caramilk bar?.....i figured , what with you being such a famous and cool dude(and probably curious yourself) you might be able to score us some inside info?... ok now thats out of my system...you keep on keepin on... and i shall find a way to listen to WHATEVER you make.. cause YOU, SIR, .. are DA SHIZNICK! my strings are wound with care and ready to ice it out......

to wingnut007

For electronic...in this order... i use a Profile Professional, black in colour, going into a Korg G3effects processor, out to a BOSS SD-1, and then into a Dunlop Crybaby Wah and then into a BOSS MD-2 (great sounding Hack n slash, by the way) comin outta a Peavey Minx (I know .. its a bass amp...but it is OH SO HEAVY).. and dats it...im currently working on jury rigging a vocal wah effect with a funnel and some tubing .. well see how that goes...

Nick Lee - Actually my hair's fully grown past my ears and nose. It's long now. We're gonna take pictures of ourselves with our hair and guitars (Jem7VWH, JS1000BP) before we shave it off again.

What a great tradition.

Correct Mr Samick Man!

Ever try to play a gig with no rhythm or time instruments? It's very hard. I'm there playing drums with a lead guitar and a piano, and the other drummer had a bass but didn't know the songs on bass so he didn't play at all. (We didn't pick the songs.)

Later, BEN

PS no I still can't download/install quicktime 6 so no I still don't have webcast access.

PPS anyone tried out WinaMP3 yet? not too bad...cool new features...bad HCI for the skin concept

Webmaster and all, if anyone who uses ZONE ALARM and is having trouble with the webcast... Disable Zone Alarm and try the web cast again. I did this and was able to get the webast to work. For the some reason Zone Alarm and Quick Time 6 don't like each other very much. When you are done watching the webcast you can enable Zone Alarm again. I hope this helps my fellow fans. Later. Mike

Stu/boo,

A question about the Urge II: First of all, what other basses have you had, and how would you compare the space from string to body in the slap area?

I know that Stu likes his strings REALLY close to the body since he does that side-attack style slap, and I'm wondering if the strings are really closer than usual, or if that's just because of Stu's special pickguard (I like more space than usual because of my top-down attack)...

Anyone else that has a Urge II that can help?

Did someone ask what guitars we (JS fans) use some time ago? I have a Squire Strat. & I am proud of owning one. It's such a good guitar! Sometimes, good things do come with a cheap price tag! Ha! Right now, I'm saving money for an RG570EX!!!

Hi everyone...

JS Clone 1 - I don't know what happened to Crazy Fritzy. I don't think he's been to the new site yet. He comes and goes every few months, I think. Maybe I'll pull his email address off the old T2J and see what he's up to.

Naty - Have fun on vacation.
Mrsamickman - To see the most recent posts, use the drop down box to look for posts in the last hour. The last post listed will be the most recent.
akreepish1 - The Urge II is the second bass that I've owned. The first is a Washburn XB100. It's their cheapest model, but I still think it's a very solid bass. The Washburn had a P pickup and no pickguard, so the Urge II with JPJ pickups and a pickguard was a big change. Things are a lot more cramped (it's not bad by any means, it just takes some getting used to) on the Urge II than on my Washburn. There isn't much that I can add about Stu's playing preferences...you're right on with what you said. The pickguard is extra thick, and that's actually what the strings are close to. If you play away from the pickguard it isn't a problem. To play the Urge II I had to change my playing style slightly...I started using the very tips of my fingers a lot more during regular playing. It wasn't that hard of a change to make, though, and it's more than worth it because this bass is awesome. I love it.

Iambic - No need to appologise dude.... the main thing is that you pulled through your illness... from here everything is a bonus.... we are all students of this art.. there is way too much to learn and only a single lifetime to learn it in.... it matters not how good you become or how much knowledge you acquire throughout your life.. the only thing that really matters is that your life is a better place for having music in it... and those around you love you for the person the you become..... enjoy being a student of this craft and stay lucky.. we are all your freinds......

Death Cube - the ablums I'm on with David are 'Tested too Destruction' and 'Exiles'... they are available from his web site. Note that I am playing 'under orders' so this is a very different style than from my IUMA site... more 70's prog rock style.. these albums are very 'experimental' in style.. some of the stuff is quite complex in places too.. however... for the new album [which is being mixed right now] I was allowed to be 'me'.... so it's full of 'tasteless a la Clarky'.. lol I was allowed to play naturally with sounds that are more of my chosing.. from what I've heard so far... it's way more modern and wil be a great album... his best yet IMHO.
