I was wondering if Joe had any recommendations for guitar teachers in the East Bay/Berkeley area (now that he doesn't teach there anymore). I've been studying classical 2 1/2yrs, jazz 1 1/2 yrs and rock since January. My current teacher is good but doesn't know a lot of the "techno" stuff, and since I want to be a professional musician, I'm looking for someone who can work with me toward that direction. I'm almost 15, if that matters. Any suggestions for teachers would be very appreciated. Saw Joe at the Greek Theater last night...great show!!! Flew down from the Bay Area to see him . Wish I had tickets for tonite at Concord Pavilion, I know it'll be an awesome show, too! Mike

Whojackafibby, if you folks agree to duct tape your heads, can we see some pictures of that? LMAO! ha! I can see the media using those pictures as eveidence as to why there aren't many women at Joe's shows... to much hair. Maybe the girls could just wrap aluminum foil around a wire hanger and use it for a halo/antennae type indentification as a T2J member. The hanger can be taped to your forehead...just so you fit in. Hey! The tape can also double as a name tag!! Having your name written in black marker across duct tape on your forehead will surely get you noticed! I say you folks should go for it!! LOL!!

Afternoon, JDs and Lentilmen...

Interesting interview!

Steve Vai fans: I saw The Elusive Light & Sound the other day while looking for Ultra Zone (still can't find it) and after tossing up, I thought nah...it'd all just be chops. I went and asked about info on SBM release, and all she'd tell me was that "no it isn't released and there's no record of it being released before December" I ALREADY KNOW THAT. So I was really annoyed and as consolation I bought the damn CD, the cover was just irresistible. I was right. It is mostly chops. "Can you blow me where the pampers is" CLASSIC

webcast soon, cool.

BEN

Oh yeah...about SBM, if it's not coming out in Aus then I'd be smarter to import a copy from JAPAN and not US/Europe heh heh heh! The thing is though, I waited for LISF at least 9 months. We'll see.

hey joe i was at the kickoff show at Phoenix with kings X and Cream Theatre. You were great. You seemed in a extra good mood that night. As soon as I got home i started learning Midnight. Took me 4 hours straight but i did it. ANYWAY, i was wondering how a 15 year old kid couldget a autographed pic from a great guy like you?

P.S. I hear you like PS2 games. May I recommend Silent Hill 2 and Metal Gear Solid 2? -Kevin Crimi

hey Joe....I can't wait to see you in Toronto, ON . I love your new cd , every song on it is awsome, I really love "You Saved My Life". I took my first stab at writing a tune on guitar and everyone tells me they can here your influence in my playing. I put it on a cd and hope to give it to you as a gift at the show in Toronto. I just might throw it up on the stage...lol . anyway keep up the great work and good luck with rest of the tour.

P.S. you just keep getting better and better , how are you going to top this album.

Joe,

What's the best way to build speed? Been playing a long time, but speed still isn't happening.

Thanks in advance,

SandMan 72:I know your post was meant for Joe but I would like to add my 2 cents here, I hope you don't mind. I've been playing for 20 years and I don't consider myself a speed demon. the answer here is practice time and lots of it but speed may not be your thing. I'd love to shred like Joe but it doesn't seem to be what I'm naturally good at, not that I can't practice until my hands fall off and make some headway in that direction. I use lots of alt tunings like open G, open D and C tunings. Along with these tunings I use slide, capo and a 3 finger(thumb, index and middle) picking technique used by Bluegrass players. "Going to California" by Led Zeppelin in open G is a good example of this picking technique. I try to build around my strengths and when it becomes necessary I practice scales til my hands fall off. I jam with guys who don't practice much and can scorch a fretboard all day long, but I have to practice 2 to 3 hours a day or more, for weeks to pull off one of Joe's tunes and if I don't practice forget it man, cause it ain't happening. Different strokes for different folks. I don't think my contributions as a guitar player are any less because I'm not a SHRED MONSTER, just different.

Could you introduce me a useful book or source in history of western music styles including pop , rock , jazz , metal , blues , etc ? 3. How can I have an artistic poster of " Joe Satriani " ?

JOE!!!!!!!! OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!!! YOUR SHOW AT THE PAVILION WAS NIRVANA!! BEYOND ECSTACY! ENLIGHTENING!! IT WAS DIVINE INSPIRATION! you have GOD given power, joe. your skills on the guitar are soo natural, and your amazing ability to write and play music are VERY impressive. Joe, you have given me one of the (if not, THE) best night of my life tonight. i was the one playing air guitar with you while you played friends!! i KNOW you looked at me, man. i can see you liked that i was doing that. dude, you are SO cool. i don't think anyone realizes how closely attached to your fans you are. seeing you up there in person was almost unreal at first, i had to shake my head and squint my eyes to make sure it was really you. i was following every note, every stroke of the pick. Joe, you have contributed so much to my life. you are my single biggest inspiration. FRIENDS was the first song i ever heard from you, and it moved me emotionally. i had it on repeat for hours the first time i heard it. and to know that we connected -- in a way-- during that song, delights me beyond words. i really hope that this post finds its way to your eyes, because i have been trying very hard to contact you, and i find it almost natural that we did it without words tonight, because that is how you first spoke to me... just know that you have a HUGE fan in me, and i always will be for as long as i live. Thank you Joe, thank you SO much.

Over six hundred pages pf post in just over a week?! Christ, you guys talk a lot!!!!!!!!!

Wow, what a great holiday! Weather was a touch miserable at times, but that meant the surf was better. One of my mates broke a surfboard clean in half, and another got stung by a jellyfish. We all got really drunk in the evenings and blahdy blah; I can't remember most of them. Except for the curry night, when eight of us managed to work up a bar tab of £532!!!!!!! Rock and roll!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh well, back to work...

Neil.

Hi everyone... I just got back from the Concord gig. I haven't read T2J, but I thought I'd mention a few quick things about the show.

1.) The bassist from King's X came out and sang part of a song with Dream Theater.

2.) Joe's set is the same as it was last night. I Believe was taken out and Friends was added as the encore.

I'll post a review and all that good stuff later. Goodnight, everybody...
