I watched that DVD countless times, and I saw Joe live in Rome in July. I play the guitar, but not like a pro, I can do some of the slower songs written by Joe, but when it comes to the solo, oh well..... :P
Better go home and practice... I have been eyeing the Ibanez JS2000 here in the shop, I am gonna ask the sales guy if I buy that guitar will I be able to play like Joe? That's the trick question :)

non-smoker and death cube - here's how the story with the 7 went...
A friend of mine sold a right handed RG7470 to me just over a year ago. I'm a left hooker which means that I had to re-string it / set it up and play it without the whammy bar fitted. This was all ok because it is essentially a 'toy' and I was using it for messing around with some real heavy ideas and playing Bach cello suites without having to move them up an octave...
I didn't fit a strap lock to the bottom horn [which is now the top] because it looked a little thin at the point to fit a screw that will be taking the weight of the guitar - so I can't wear the guitar and play standing up.
When David Cross asked me to record the new album and sent me all of the information and tapes I thought... "hmmm, there could be some nice 7-string parts lurking in there"... and I was right... there were...
So I recorded the new album doing all of the riffs on a 7 and all of the solos on a 6 [because a wouldn't be seen dead shredding without a whammy ... lol].
Just before last Xmas, there were rumblings of a short tour which became more definate around March... so in April I ordered a custom left hand Universe [with a few personal additions] and I was told that it would take 4 months [which gives me plenty of time 'cos the tour is Sept]..... The only risk I was running was not having two stage worthy 7 strings... but I intend to get my RG7470 fully converted in the near future to solve that]....
It now looks like the custom 7 won't make it for the first part of the tour....
However, I think that I'll manage with the 'drop-tuned' guitars until this gets sorted...
I can now play the solos in the different neck positions.... when I get the new 7 I'll have to relearn them at concert pitch [pain in the rear but easily sorted - it just costs me time and effort]...
It'll all be ok I'm sure.....
Sharon - I'll always be your 'shite in nine inch armour' ... lol

Hi everyone!
Like some of us (all of us ???), I'm searching the right sound.
Actually, I'm playing on a S 540FM in a Marshall Valvestate 80W. I'm using the distortion of the amp. My style? Of course, Satch and some Dream Theater stuff as well.
What do you think of this gear : S 540 FM => Crybaby Wha => DD5 => Marshall JMP1 => Marshall EL84 20/20 power amp => 1922 Marshall Cab.
What do you think of the distortion I will obtain? What about the clean channel? Tell me your thoughts, advices...
Thanks, Dud26

"We have confirmation!" - Joe, thankyou for doing this tour, last night was absolutely fantastic!
King's X was incredible, very well tuned and calibrated, like a fine machine with a great soul.
Dream Theater was perfect or pretty damn close to it. They were freakin' sick! - Better than the studio recording, 'cause you got to see it and feel it happening.
You gotta love a guy that can come in after those fine artists and just tear ass. Joe was great! Jeff played better than I had ever seen from him in the past. Pay close attention to what he does in "Mystical Potatohead Groove Thing", it's f&%^ing awsome!!
Joe - thanks for coming to AZ and shredding us up! This show was spectacular!
Devastated, I must sit down and gather myself.... and oh yeah - change my pants..
Fasten your seat belts RDG, Ya Yo and all of San Diego!
I'm out- Kell

Oops, how rude of me.....
Michelle - glad you are still with us! I almost had a similarly bad experience yesterday with a kid running a very red light as I was on my way out of Tucson - heading up to see Joe. He hit the person two cars in front of me and lost complete control of his car.....
Stay alive people, the world needs all of you!

Maire, sorry, I should have copied the whole post ~ "well, like the people encouraging others to get tatoos.LOL. tatoos look great on a 30 year old if one likes that. but have you seen them on a 50 year old?LOL. just silly things like that. " in reference to the T2J page ~ and *that* would refer to me. Not only do I encourage it, but I give pretty damn good advice on the subject too :) You have a nice day now, ya hear!

Any bassists in the house, I need advice or some sort of guidance.
I'm having hard time adapting slap from a 4 string to a 5.
Is that normal or is it just me ????

Kell, sounds like you had a great time at the show. Man, I can't wait until it's my turn!! Geez, you really had a close call too! Some folks don't understand the IMPORTANCE of paying attention when their driving. We all have our times when we have to reach for something or pay attention to our kids or something, but all the phones & other crap in cars these days are to distracting. I drove behind a girl yesterday, a youngin', who turned her rearview down & started putting on make-up & hairspray. HAIRSPRAY in a car ~ while driving!! Some ppl. just don't get it. Anyways, glad your o.k. and made it to the show.
