Hi again,
I have a digitech RP2000 and I notice that if the volume coming from the guitar isnt up to about "7", you get this choppy gated noise. I assume that the threshold level is set too high. But this occurs on effects that arent even using any compression.
So, my question is Joe, what devices do you use in your signal path are there any digital ones there?
Thanks, Geoffreyorbitizer :)

Thank you for the update concerning the pitch axis theory.
I was jammin acoustic with some bluegrass buddies in key of G. I used G ionian, Gphrygian,G aeolian (relative minor) and was blown away at the new variations now available to me.
THANKS AGAIN JSCLONE1
and thanks to Joe for bringing this powerful tool into commonsight. Geoffreyorbitizer :)

ovation1- i have also read of some of there recording techniques for the drums in paticular....they made the kit sound big even though it wasn't....like lots of room mics and primary bass mics with no pillow in the bass....bohnam was one of my favorites and John Bohnam & i also had something in common..we both loved BUddy Rich....you can tell with him by his unique style and approach that he has heard and respected buddy for a long time when live and recording....when I have been in recording the engineers would tell me things like how they were able to get the john bohnam kit sound and use my kit as an example...you have a great weekend too...
guitarzbabe-crystal planet was such an awsome CD...i need to get another one...my casseste said "no mas" after three straight years of play....I've also picked up the guitar and bass for writing perposes and I could see how Joe can enspire string players...he is a great influence to me...i think that both drummers on crystal planet were on the money...thanks for the response....
hey Joe I am about to go out and buy another copy of Crystal Planet today....Maybe some imports....again the fourth webcast was so great....your playing was astronomically sonic...( what ever that means ) Definition-very large & refering to sound waves....Joe i'd say that's you in a nutshell
Hey can anyone give me names of really good instramental artists i may not have heard of. Some of my favorites are Joe, Steve Vai, Steve Morse....and others i may not know would be greatly appreciated. These are just the main three.

kcar68,
Joe decided to have Matt this time through... meanwhile, Stu has been off doing his own thing (GHS3 is now out, and it's AMAZING!!!!)...
He's also got a "one-man show" format type of thing going with a few other people, where he plays mostly solo stuff and talks about his experience/life as a bassist, and has a few duets/trios/quartets spread throughout...
I'm still waiting to find out when his next gig will be.

Hey Joe I was Just wondering what you think of Andy Timmons. I went to the G3 concert in (Fort Worth TX) 2001 where Andy made a guest appearance on the show. I bought his latest album Ear X-tacey.I noticed Andy is part of Steve Vai's Favored Nations thing. Is he a possibility on the next G3 tour?.....Thanks.

Whojackafibby, "Stepping Lightly" is very cool sounding. I was just jamming out to it with some leads of my own. If I can ever figure out how to mix my leads into that and record it (with the blessing of your son of course), I could post it and y'all could have a listen. I would never try to profit from his music, I just thought it would be cool to add some mellow bluesy leads to it :)

Speaking of Crystal Planet, has anyone actually found words deemed worthy to describe it yet? That's what the labs in Antartica are for aren't they?
Michelle - That excited huh? The guy in front of you must not have been too happy. Videos?

Joe,
The first thing I want to say is that your show in Pittsburgh on 9/7 was awesome! You are the greatest guitar player in the world! I won aftershow passes to meet you for that show but didn't get to meet you! My friend and I didn't realize we were supposed to meet you after your performance and not the after the whole show! Considering this was my first concert, and winning passes to meet you is a once in a lifetime chance, I was devastated! I just have one request. Would it be possible for you to sign 2 pictures of yourself and have them sent to me? It's not as good as actually meeting you, but it would really make me happy and would be greatly appreciated. I'm currently learning to play guitar(an Ibanez, of course) and you are such an inspiration. Thanks for a great show and anything you can do to help me out.
Mike

rich, crystal planet was the first js album i ever owned...my buddy on ICQ was sayin to me "hey man, you play guitar, you should check this guy joe satriani out, he's pretty cool" so i look for clips on the internet of him and i find a clip of "House Full of Bullets"... from that moment on, I've been a satchaholic...
Crystal Planet is one of Joe's best albums, if you ask me. Hell, they're all good, but moreso my fav of them all. You're right, there are no words that can quite describe it, but the tapping part near the end of crystal planet (the song) i just go nuts, it's amazing
