Death Cube K: interesting list. Never heard of any of them except Bjork. What genre of music do they fall into?

Mr. Nick, I like your lineup, but Van Halen HAS to be the older lineup. I like Sammy Hagar, killer guitar player too, but no one puts on a show like Diamond Dave and the band was really hot back then. Too bad he and Eddie can't work out their differences. I understand that no one can put up with Dave's crap for too long, but he sure puts on a show.

elpp - In the US, cuts are never made to The Simpsons for censorship reasons. Ain't America great? Hehehe. Some other countries make censorship cuts, though. England has quite a few of them. The BBC also won't show episode 5F01 (The Cartridge Family), most likely because of the line about the King Of England pushing people around. Also, they've been reluctant to show DABF11 (Weekend At Burnsie's) because it deals with medicinal marijuana.

I think Joe needs to be on The Simpsons. :-)

Satchless in Philly: A letter to Joe

Mr. Satriani:

I am a religious Satch concert-goer who has missed your last two fly-bys of Philadelphia. If I may be so bold (for we wizards are subtle...), I take exception with your choice in venues, as well as the day of the week chosen for the gigs. Last summer, the G3 stop in Philadelphia was at the Keswick Theatre in Glenside. Great venue, to be sure, but the place only has about 400 seats, putting the odds of getting a non-scalped (i.e.- 'affordable') ticket somewhere just between 'Snowball's chance' and 'No way, Jose'. Two weeks ago, the Dream theater/ King's X/ Satriani combo tour came to the Philly 'area' (the much detested Tweeter Center in Camden, NJ, to be exact). The gig was on a Sunday, and was scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Not to be a whiner, but figure an opening act and two main attractions makes for a late night for those of us non-rock stars who need to drive back over the bridge into our own states, and get up for the 6 a.m. wake-up/ work call. How is it that Philly (the 5th or 6th biggest metropolitan area in the country) doesn't rate a stop within city limits? You used to play at the Tower and the Electric factory, which are decent-sized venues. If you prefer outdoors, we still have the Mann Center, roughly comparable to the Tweeter in size. Philly fans HATE lugging across the river to Camden. They dislike the higher prices associated with tickets, parking and the whole nine yards. Please play in Philly sometime soon! OK, I'll shut up now...

The security thing is if-y. Good luck. I would like to help with the guitar stuff ,too. You can gaurd them, i'll put on strings and tune them for you........Paul, most may have trouble with the logic/math thing. the emoptional content should suffice for most in explanation. Theory is great/ and integral but not all inclusive. I know you know that, I'm just being clear. There are a fist full of names for things in tab that I have not even heard of yet, and do on the guitar. It would be wierd to see my playing in tab. How do you write that you push the trem arm from the back this time and pulll up this time this way etc. Kinda daunting. But for perfectionist like us.......we will keep trying and sucseeding(sp). Matt: good to talk to you in chat!!! How do I get more songs to you? (I still have your address) Now i'm just waiting on some $ to send it. Steven has done well paying attention to the drums, and we have been solo taping songs. let me clarify that, when we record, if i start a song, I finish doing all the parts.visa/versa for steven so'os we know just who did what. Now we have a good balance of us and each other.......confusing? Maybe i'll get it straight for you in chat one night. Love a Cd of C.O.E.!!!! Joe's new one is first and foremost right now. I was listening to his album while traveling to/from Seattle recently by air. That was memorable.......peace all

Geez man, ya fall asleep for a couple of days and wind up with 12 pages to sift through!

I'll make it short. If the shoe fits, buy it :) Get well soon. Happy Birthday. Bon Voyage. Good luck. Congrats. The Extremist & JS self titled. Jblaze for security. Chocolate ~ yummy!

I still have 6 pages to go. ughhhhh.....

O.k., down to 22 posts. Gotta answer this one - Sharon, having a baby or getting a tattoo? You could tattoo mini pictures of all of Joe's guitars on my eyelids and it still wouldn't hurt as much as labor & delivery. Tat's aren't that bad. If they were, you'd get an epidural :)

Matt:!!!I forgot, any word on me doing guitars(Tech) for you? I also have an outstanding idea for a concert that I cannot explain here.(Hush Hush) would you like some vocals for your songs? any in the works? I know that you don't need them, your guitar does the singing. I guess that's what the well listened fan likes about us guitar players. Joe:I really like "what a heart breaks" as a tribute to 9/11 and a follow up of AWM/AWY. Once I get my article back from my english teacher, I'll send it here for your approval!!!. Thanx, Iambic ........awy.....no....awm....wait........I always get that backwards!!!!!! It's amazing I remember my own songs. I amazed my friend Steven yesterday by playing bass on RJDV fairly well. he did not know I work out on that song. (Ha Ha). That's okay, he's way ahead of me on the Vai stuff. Joe Good luck with what ever band plays the pre-party for the bone bash. Wish I had my band together enough to qualify. Studio stuff for me, for now. I'll keep working on it. School come first. Thanks again Joe for paying attention to our many suggestions and the like. You are great to even try any of them and I hope you had a blast playing with all those other guitarists. I know we all are! Peace ,Iambic

Kinger, to have seen Metallica back then would have been the ticket. They have definately gotten older in recent years and in my opinion they have lost the punch. And Justice For All is the best one they had as far as I'm concerned. Now, I'm not one of those people who say they sold out, as matter of fact, I don't say that about anyone. Their music has evolved, as does everything. I just like the early stuff better. I give them all the props for longevity. Bands like Skid Row, Dio, All the grunge bands, they came and went, but Metallica is still around. That says alot about them. Great guitar work back in the day!!!!

shiloh2000 i go more for the ride the lightning album myself, but i agree that they have evolved. the newer stuff is still good stuff but it is hard to match the energy from the first the first two albums. the black album is another classic (thats when i started listening to 'tallica) but it slacks off toward the end of the cd, not bad sonds, just a bit weaker. thats my opinion... still want to see a gig badly though...

clarky the theory part of guitar playing always scared me. i basically taught myself to play by using my ear and tab books. i read guitar mags and just thought WHAT!?!? but getting it now in simple english fills in many of the blanks... great stuff...

cheers...

Rincewind, I also have to cross the bridge to get to the Tweeter. Besides $15.00 for parking and $4.00 for a bottle of water, it wasn't to bad. Maybe my euphoria seeing Joe has blocked all the bad things from my memory?

Rincewind the Wizzard - The venues Joe plays in are usually decided on by the concert promoters. Clear Channel was the promoter in this case...they're behind the higher prices and everything as well.

Iambic - 99% of the tab you find on the internet is crap. However, there are some tab books that are really in-depth. They use hammer-ons and pinch harmonics and ghost notes and slides everything...it's really easy to follow. I've seen tab written out like regular music (quarter notes, etc.), but it's written with numbers on tab instead of with notes on a staff.
michelle - Make sure you read all of the posts...there will be a quiz.

By the by JBlaze, do you have a website where I might go to listen to some of your jams? I'm always interested in listening to the music of other guitarists. I'm still working on getting my stuff recorded and a website up but it's slow going; still spending too much on band gear. Anyway, best of luck on the guard position man, hopefully some day you and I'll be able to swap some chops.
