Phyr Dom...I cant seem to download Java correctly & access chat...any ideas?

September 18........Anniversary of Jimi's departure .The world was a very different place in 1970, but Jimi still tops the polls of best guitar players....

Mr Nick: Funny picture.... :)

Thanks for your input on which albums to buy, folks. I've almost decided to buy Crystal Planet and Flying In A Blue Dream. I'll be sure to post my reviews later on...

Hi everyone....this is the infamous day that Mr. Hendrix passed on 32 years ago (of course you all know that). It is also on or around the time Mr Satriani decided to dedicate his life to music....God bless him, what a great decision that was.

Joe, do you care to comment on this special day for you and countless others?

Man, you're not kidding. Just a few days off and I'm way lagged. Big time thanks to the T2Jer's who came out to my show at The Whisky A Go-Go last Friday. What a blast. Hope you guys had a good time.

Joe - Hope you're enjoying your break. I'm sure you more than earned it! Any cool interesting stories from the road you want to share?

akreepish1 - Those tabs are awesome...thanks for the link. I'm happy to see that someone tabbed out the LISF solo. I've been messing around with parts of it, but I could never get it exactly perfect.

I think today is the day that I'm going to start posting on the Stu Hamm board...LOL. So I guess I'll see you there.

stu hacking - Yes, I recommend the 3 GHS albums. Don't buy them thinking you'll be hearing Satriani stuff, though... The GHS stuff is completely different. I would buy them in this order: Show Me What You Can Do, GHS 3, The Light Beyond. My favorite GHS song is Astral Traveler, from SMWYCD.
h302 - I think the sound you're describing is actually Joe singing/talking through his harmonica into the microphone. Steven Tyler of Aerosmith does this a lot, if you want to hear another example.
koyote99 - If you email the picture to webmaster@satriani.com, he might send it to Joe. Also, I have a few ideas for how you can preserve the signature. Cut a square of clear plastic wrap that is larger than the area of the signature. Place it over the signature on your bike, and then tape down all of the edges. If you don't want to do that (it might look kinda dumb), try using a sealing spray that preserves autographs on baseballs and stuff like that. Go to your local baseball card shop or comic book store and see if they have what you need.
pailoong - They're saying "Stuuu", not "boo"...
Mr Nick - LOL!

...Austin...

Way to go Dave (Non-Smoker)......Ya beat me to announcing that this is the day Hendrix died. It wasn't a competition or anything like that, I just found it odd that your post was the only one to mention that fact. Back then I was stationed in Germany for the U.S. Army. About 2 weeks or so before this date I foolishly turned down a chance to see Jimi play at the Isle of Wight Festival, thinking I would have the time to see him when he played somewhere closer to me. I have been kicking myself for 32 years since. To me, it was the greatest loss to rock music ever. I've imagined what he would've contributed to the world in all that time, and what he'd be doing now if he was still among us. However, I like to think that a transformation took place back then, where his spirit was somehow placed into a young man from New York who grew to become the best guitarist on the planet today. Joe proves that to me with each new recording and each live show I've had the privilege of attending. I never got to see the God, but I revel in his disciple. Every year on this date I dedicate Jimi's memory by playing his music all day long. I'd like to think that there are others out there who do the same

Hi, Joe! I just wanted to say what a great show you put on at PNC in Jersey! I posted my rave review! It was the first time I had the pleasure of seeing you in concert and it was an overwhelming experience! I was such a lunatic...my husband kept looking at me and laughing, like...who is this woman I married? I was so pumped up, I couldn't sleep after I got home...really awesome!! Please come back for an evening with, OK! Well... I missed the freakin' webcast-this sucks! I was so busy the last 5 days or so and I thought it was over Friday-then, I checked today and they ran it on the weekend! Maybe next time! I've been marveling at the diversity of your music lately - well, all the time, really-because I was listening to Bells of Lal in the morning and Cystal Planet's Love Thing in the afternoon!. Hard to believe it's the same artist!!! But that's one of the million things I love about your stuff-there's Satch for every mood! I have to tell you, Crystal Planet is in a close race with SBM and Flying... for best Satch CD. I feel bad even saying that because I happen to love all the others too, especially Joe Satriani. The sounds are so clean and it has attitude. My song of the day...Time! The part in the new time signature after the clock sounds reminds me of scenes in 2001 A Space Odyssey (I think it was) where the ship is going warp and everyone's voice starts slowing down...COOL! You should consider scoring a sci-fi movie, Joe! Enjoy some time off before your Japan dates and knock 'em dead!

Man, I start reading the theory stuff and I can't help but remember Apu when he was studying for his citizenship exam...

Or Bart when he wanted to prove Lisa that he wasn't dumb...

Now, this comment is not meant to put down Clarky's work in any way. It's just proof that I'm totally "allergic" to music theory. The only guitar teacher I ever had was able to show me lots of chords, but when he tried to show me theory I was out of there in a week! Of course it didn't help that just at that time I was starting to become a soccer buff.

AUSTIN: I've noticed that in other episodes as well. Then again, remember that they edited the famous "Bad influence my ass" line, so that's why I went with the conspiracy theory.

Later.

Satchman: Shell mentioned it before NonSmoker... just thought I'd say...

I find it difficult to understand music theory...it's so much harder to read especially how counting starts at one (I'm used to zero) and an octave only goes up 7 notes and flats/sharps don't occur on every line of the stave etc. Plus also the names seem to be so vague and I like names of things to actually hint at their function/meaning. I don't like tab either, because it doesn't provide a true representation of timing or tell you exactly what note is being played. Give me drumsticks! (Opened up for abuse...)
