Glad to hear your alright Yayo!! Man....sounds like you could do alot of good in that field....And introducing offenders to SATCH....That would be the ultimate!! :-)
boz59: " they are made in asia by people with little interest or pride in workmanship, so how can you you expect a quality guitar." First, that is a totally false statement....Otherwise Iby wouldn't be the best selling ROCK Guitar in the World!! I could go on and on about this....down to describing Asian work ethics compared to Western work ethics etc., but I won't....
Second, if the JS1000 did not play well, what did you compare it to?? Did you try other guitars as well?? BTW, I've heard alot of things about Ed Romans website....There are a lot of people out there that swear by a certain model...You
have to find out what is good for you....Buying a Sig. series,
or buying a lower end model and modifying it....Good luck with your guitar shopping and compare shops.... :-)
JS Clone 1: Your doing the right thing by not forcing your hand dude....Slow and easy bro'....
Matt: May not be going to Berklee dude?? I'm sure whatever decision you make will be the right one....Besides, I think your doing just fine without it!!....Seems to me like your following right in the footsteps of SATCH dude :-)
Peace all, /\/\ike

if you want someone to check your guitar for you, and make sure it's in perfect condition before you buy it, check www.ibanezrules.com
The guy selling the guitars from that website checks and setup your signature ibanez before shipping it to you...great prizes as well, great service...check it out....i am waiting for my js1000wh to arrive from him....wednesday, maybe thursday it will arrive, and then i will have a perfectly setup JS1000...no doubt about it !!!
check it out, also check the feedback on his page...you will see all the comments from happy customers, i'm sure my comment will be on it too in a few days....

local person - to be perfectly honest... I was never a great fan of the 1st half of the 20th C.... it could understand the theories etc etc... also that the concept of creation and art... but it just sounds horrid... I quite like things getting 'out there' in a fussion sense but after a while I acclimatise to it... and it all begins to sounds like variations on the same din..... whereas, Bach JS and CPE, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Wagner, Puccini, Hyden, Handel and the 'big 5' Russians etc I can listen to all day long......
Mikro is all based upon 'formulas'... crack the formula and you'll crack the piece.... [major in the left hand minor in the right... of specific groups of intveralic leap combinations]... finding the formula makes your head spin... once you've done that though... it gets easy.... Bach chorales are IMHO much more difficult.... being 'beautiful' with the confines of the rules.. now to me... that is genius...
Try checking out some of the '48 preludes and fugues' for clavier.... some of the chromatic lines in there are almost jazzy..... there's a lot more to Bach than meets the eye.. you just need to look in the right places.. the chorales are not the place as they are strictly church music and had a specific purpose... look into instumental Bach... the harpsichord concertos [no's 1, 5 and 6 are very cool]. in fact... any concerto... the lute suites, cello suites...
Matt - maybe I spelt it wrong... Xm add 13.... there will be no 7, 9 or 11 in there. only a triad with the note value of the 13th added [from a minor key].... however I prefer to think in terms of inversions if the notes can possibly be 'stacked' in 3rds.......
"root b3 5 b6" is actually nicer as a 1st inversion maj7 chord.. I avoid using a chord name with a 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th or 12th if I can because of suspension usage... so where possible I think in terms of R, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 11th, 13th, and inversions.... you can describe pretty much anything in these terms...

Good morning all. Haven't been around in a few days, so I need to catch up. Played a gig Saturday for a bunch of bikers. It was an all day affair, but it went pretty smooth. In between sets, I would play Satch through my PA. Long story short, Joe gained a few new fans. The crowd was just as entertained in my breaks (if not ALOT more) as they were during my sets. Very cool to watch someone's first Satriani experience.
Keep it up Joe. The world needs you. You bring happiness to people everyday, all day. That has got to feel good!!! Rok ON Dude!

BOZ59 - It's an unfortunate fact of life that most guitars, even very expensive ones aren't set up properly when they arrive at the shop, at the end of the day they are still mass produced. It's worth finding a luthier or somebody with a similar degree of craftsmanship/ engineering skill to set your guitars up. They will still probably need doing every 12 - 18 months just to keep them in the best condition. The bloke who sets my guitars up, could (in most cases) take a £300 shop bought guitar and set it up, afterwards it would feel like an £800 model, and all for £50. Another tip, fret dressing is best carried out across the neck, that way you will maintain the radius (the frets on a neck are slightly convex). I believe that industry practise is to dress them up and down the neck with a shorter block. Think about it logically and you can see why this could lead to imperfections, esp. while bending notes. ;-)

to all the theory buffs out there, a book you might be interested in wrapping your head around is Ted Greene's Chord Chemestry. It contains just about every chord that you'd every want to know.(all those outherworldly chords that Steve & Joe use are in there). It also explains the theory behing the chords. The only hitch is you have to be able to read music because it doesn't contain any tab.

How do you get a guitarist to turn down? Put a chart in front of them. How do you get them to stop playing? Put notes on it. Sad but true reality of our instrument. I teach gutiar & get alot of students who want to go to Humber College or York University(2 maj. music schools in Toronto Ont.Canada)but can't read a jazz chart. So my BIG tip of the day to all the aspiring string benders out there is to learn to read standard notation. It'll open up a whole world of music to you that is not available in tab. Clarky - keep up the lessons. I studied jazz composition so I find the talk about classical compostion fasinating.

clarky -- Ahh I see :) I was never formally taught this info, I took few concepts that I read in a book here and there and pieced things together in a way that I would understand them! I'm sure there are many other things that I am naming wrong lol but hell it's music ;) Thanks again man!
Ovation -- Eh, Berklee presented some problems. And I had something in my heart just telling me it's not for me...thank you though for the support man. It never goes unnoticed...

mr nick -- Berklee is expensive if you don't get some sort of scholarship...but it's really easy to pick up something from them. The reason I really don't like berklee is because they are totally buisness -- they have their favorites and push those...but they could care less for the other ppl who put more work into things, instead -- they care more about the ppl who will keep feeding them a cash flow! I know it's life, but it's not somethign I am ok with...
