Nick: Me personally? Or in general? What you could do is load it into a sequencer or your midi player, and record it say to tape or minidisc. Then record it back into the computer and burn the CD from there. The main drawback / limitation is that you're totally dependent on the quality of your soundcard's MIDI instruments.

What I like to do is load it into the sequencer, record the real guitars over the top (within the sequencer) and then master to DAT and/or CD from there.

Hey Mr Satriani

Iam a fan that has just recently joined your interenet site account and I am from the city of Brisbane Australia. I was just writing to ask you about how to suceed in making the guitar scream. Can it be accomplished on any guitar with a wammy bar or do you have to have special bridge section with lock nuts so the guitar doesnt go out of tune and how is this technique done.

phrygian dominant. i meant in general..but if you get it off the website..and its saved onto the computer....surely you can just burn it onto the cd? and its hasn't got the BK next to it on the websire indicating its not the backing track.and also on that site..there is a new track on the extremist album

the downloadable webcast...i got the silly studio thing in abouit 10 minutes..but over 5 hours to get the first bit of the webcast!!!!!..thats outragous!!.....i still cant watch the f***ing thing!!!!

and whats all this with the weird pictures on here...webmaster??

Nick: once you have it on your computer you can burn it to CD, but MIDI & audio are two very different things - you wouldn't be able to play it on a domestic player until you've converted the MIDI information into audio information.
I checked the file and yes - it has the melody line in it too, so you'd need some kind of MIDI software to mute the melody, leaving the backing track intact underneath.
Also. I checked my copy of The Extremist and the track listing looks fine to me :-/

Cheers, Dave

EDIT: I muted the melody line and saved the file to my site. You can get it here. Also, I converted the MIDI into audio with my sequencer (unfortunately with shitty instrument sounds) and get you can the MP3 here. The MIDI file is tiny, but the MP3 is just over 3.5MB, so be warned! Enjoy...

kinger: That's how long it's been (over4yrs) since I've been to the dojo!!..Your right, sifu is used in Kung-Fu (I used to take the United Studios of Self Defense class....I believe thats the name....when I was in grade school) "Renshi" is the term for a qualified Instructor, a Sensei....6, 7, and 8 dan levels are called "Kyoshi", literally "wizard", or Master....The 9th & 10th dan levels (far and few between) are called "Sheehan", or Chief Grand Master....My Shorin-Ryu/Kobudo Instructor was Sensei Inamine, and Uechi-Ryu was the famous Shinjyo.... Some of you Northern CA. folks might know "Sheehan Allan Dollar"....He studied with Sheehan Shinjyo....

Get a Loaf: I totally agree....I always crank it when I'm in the car, that and "BOL2" and of course "Time"....Time sepecially, cause that song could go on forever, and I would be in that same zone that you reach when JOE's music is deep inside your subconsious!!

Whojack, Welcome back....For some reason I was thinking about the late John Denver song "Thank God I'm a Country Boy"...."Well, life aint nothin but a funny funny whojackafibby" "Yeehaw, (you know the rest)....lol, I love the name :-)

Thanks for filling us in on the conversation Austin!!

Thanks JON, YOU & JOE RULE!! :-)

Peace all, /\/\ike

Dave, I was with ya all the way up the the polka music. ha! That's like the happiest, bounciest, craziest music out there. THOSE are the people our children should be afraid of, not Marilyn Manson & Rob Zombie!! lmao!! We have alot of Pennsylvania Dutch ppl. here, but thankfully, I don't have that accent. lol! They say things like donn (down), Sundee, Mondee, Tuesdee (s'up wit dat?), arn (iron), caahs (cows). It's funny - even my mom talks like that. I always goof "araand" and use the phrase "a-bot an R", which means about an hour. In a-bot an R I'll take a shar. Figure that one out. LOL!!

Austin, people who don't think they have an accent always do. lol! I've been asked if I was from the NY/NJ area already. Maybe cuz I use words like tawk? LOL! ~~~ Thanks for the Matt/Jeff conversation. Matt was having fun at the Tweeter in NJ when they were there. It makes touring so much easier when everybody gels.

Welcome back Who-Jacq!

Hamerhedsharkasaurus - Welcome to the site! What are your favorite JS songs and favorite JS albums?

Tororo - Welcome... You probably listened to a soundpage (that's what those magazine records were called) of The Crush Of Love. I think it was in Guitar World.
jblaze1 - That's a good joke, but you typed it wrong. It should be: What ever happened to Preparations A through G? ;-)
everyone - Do you all notice how I always try to ask the newbies a few questions (favorite songs and albums) once they introduce themselves, so they don't feel ignored? Has anyone noticed that NO ONE has ever given me an answer? LOL...why do I try?

...Austin...

Hi everyone, Joe Rules! I've been playing guitar for 10 years and I can say that Joe is the only guy who I have been a true follower of (guitarist-wise anyway, I mean I've been a U2 fan for ages as well). In my honest opinion, nobody comes close to Satch..he just truely is the best :-)

By the way, any plans to put the current Strange Beautiful Music tour on DVD/Video? I went in Birmingham(UK) and you truely rocked..would love to have it on dvd!
