dyer: EOC had too little guitar and too much techno for my tastes. Many of us old-timers (satch fans since the beginning) are heavy guitar enthusiasts. SBM is back to what made our cult follow Joe.

hey
cryophil - I din't listen to Joe from the very beginning becouse I am only 17 but I listen to him for about 5 or 6 years so EOC wasb't the first album I've heard but I like it, for me it's really cool that Joe could combine guitar and electro stuff, sometimes it was too much of it, but I think it's really good, and SBM sounds quite strange, there aren't many great solos but he changes himself as a musician :):):):)
thnx
bye!!! :)

Engines of Creation is an awesome album! I love all of the songs- especially Until We Say Goodbye and Clouds Race Across the Sky (it's a very dreamy song!). Even though techno is not my most favorite style, EOC is an exception.

Dragonchild, I live in Las Vegas, Nevada. It's kinda far from Enskede and Odense. Does H C stand for Hans Christian? I've seen the old movie on him!

Blazeneon - Yes, the Cameron Crowe that Joe thanked in the FIABD album is the film director. The song One Big Rush from FIABD was written for the soundtrack to Say Anything, a movie by Cameron Crowe.

Hi there Satch fans, haven't been on for a few days and Oh My God, what is this Sharon/Michelle/Guitarzbabe thing. It seems that something that was posted that was light hearted, fun and non offensive has been turned into a bit of a battle. I haven't had time to read all of the posts since Friday but can this one be put to bed please before it is blown up into some seriously bad proportions. We are all hopefully joined in the total admiration of one of the finest artists this world has ever seen and I am joyously happy to be part of that. My life is richer for having Joe's music and my dog and I are eternally grateful.
Paul Clark - I hope you believe me, I am a good person you know. Incidentally, how old are you, for some reason I thought you were a young thing.
Phydeux3 - had a look at your pooches, they look very nice. I grew up with Shepherds, hope you enjoy yours. Dobies are not so easy to train, they are stubborn and seem to have an opinion on why they have to do certain things. You can find pictures of my lot on www.dogclub.co.uk Click on the D and then on Dobermann, you'll find us on the list as Zajonti. Don't look at me though, I never take a good photo especially on a bad hair day.
Michelle - goods posts, not offensive.
LOL sharon

Almost forgot - we went to see Robert Plant last night at Birmingham Academy and Oh boy was it loud, my ears hurt, my head was in pain and was a bit deaf on leaving the building. Robert and his band were good though, they did a great version of Whole lotta Love. His intro band was Arthur Brown, remember him, he did that song called Fire, think that what it was called anyway. He was good but was he crazy or what, totalled bombed out, he jumped off the stage and over the railings and into the crowd not far from me, most backed away from this barmy seventies throwback.
My ears are back to normal now, colleagues at work were taking the pee though and talking quietly on purpose. Couldn't hear propertly until about lunchtime.
Peace and Happiness to everyone in Satchland.
JOE - hope everybody gets home safely, don't stop off in Bali whatever you do.
LOL Sharon

Hey Everybody:) This is my first time posting on here, and just became a member. I love Joe Satriani so much, SOOOOOOO talented! Joe, the next time you come to Atlanta, GA please make it to where people under 21 can come. I'm only 12, so just my dad went. How can I get backstage passes? You should see how hard my dad tries to play like you! LOL. Not even close. I admit, I have a little crush on Jeff Campitelli. He's a great drummer. Your whole band is great, or they wouldn't be playing with you!
I have a question. How old is your child? 9? 10? Can you ever show pictures of them? My favorite CDs by you are The Extremist, Engines of Creation, Flying in a Blue Dream, Strange Beautiful Music, and Crystal Planet. LOL. LOTS! I love your Live in San Francisco DVD. I think you surpass ALL the guitarists out in the world. Even Jimi Hendrix! LOL. My Dad wanted me to tell you that he thought you were great in concert. Well, tell everybody hi for me. Thanks! Bye!

*lifting up Joe's sleepy eyelid* "JOE, you up yet??"
Today is a great day to sleep. We're having a NorEaster (however you spell that?) here on the east coast. Ohhhh what fun! Guess I'll just stay inside and keep to my domestic goddess duties for today.
Sharon, hopefully it's over for good. We all have a difference of opinion on here, but that was ridiculous. I think she was having a 'Nam flash back or something? (Vietnam) If something as tiny as what was said between you and I set her off, I think therapy is her best bet, and honestly I'm not saying that to be mean. You have to heal yourself. Nobody's going to do it for you. We all have battlescars from life, but you can't lash out at everyone for something that they have absolutely nothing to do with. It's a shame really.
JBlaze, do you mean whirled peas?
If we would just give peas a chance.....

Mr Nick - I played Satan Salad using the 'MP3 stream' both from the 'featured' page and the album 1 page... I noticed that from time to time it just stopped... but if you wait a while it'll carry on playing... this is due to buffering... the network being congested. I tried to download it and my window froze.. this is due to the firewall because I dial in from a corparate LAN... which sux..... the track is 4 mins 49 long and ends with a power chord and diving harmonic... I managed to listen to the track successfully twice today... maybe try again is all I can suggest...
death cube - it sounds to me as though you are not very confident with your newer ideas which is why you tend to revert to what is 'comfortable'... it also appears to me that your 'lick vocabulary' is also a little limted.... all of this is pretty simple to cure....
firstly you need to develop new licks.. one way is to redevelop the old [by altering the phasing - start it on different beat of the bar, alter some of the note lengths... the effects can be quite dramatic. by altering some of the notes - replace some of the existing notes with different ones - this can begin to lead you into new ideas]
When messing with ideas, when you come up with a great line, practice it over and over... repetition will make it easier to play and therefore recall at will.... understand how the lick works so that it is available in every key
Maybe when I've completed the basic theory thing we can look at application.... getting all of this nice info onto the neck - the place where it counts...
For Adum - I dont snivle, I'm not exactly little, rat faced is open to debate but remember that I'm not little.. lol, git... that's me ... lol.
Thanx for trying with the symbols... I'll stick with ^ for now... so long as all those interested realise that it is meant to be a triangle then it'll have to do...
I did not suggest anything to do with a cattle prod [not that I can recall I think]... however using one in unsavoury places sounds to me like a sex enhancement..which I fully condone... lol
kinger - tragic yes.... but it's at times like that when writing and performing that you can reach right down inside... it reaffirms how deeply related the human emotional spirit and the human creative spirit are.. artistic creation via tragedy is a very powerful thing.
r6r - so true regarding lyrics - maybe I should rewrite Talking to Stone combining the origianal song and the instrumental... music is an emotional experience... in this case a painful one...
now you know the story, listen to the track again... close your eyes... imagine sitting in a graveyard by the stone... trying to reason with it... getting frustrated, dissapointed, angry and then a sense of great loss.... in winter at dusk
Sharon - I do believe that you are a good person... I've read enough of your posts to realise that..... what makes you think that I have any other opinion of you?
I am a young thing [I have a mental age of 14 and 3/4]... young but in a dispicable old git sort of way... why the interest... you making a pass at me...???? lol lol lol...
