r6r- what stuff did you start off with playing? It was Metallica that originally got me to pick up the guitar. Then, when I found out that Kirk took lessons from a guy named Joe Satriani, I figured I'd look into it. Needless to say, that took me into a different world.

Tendinitis sucks!!! I always have to start off slow and simple when I play and then gradually build up more speed and stretches. And my wrist still hurts sometimes!!

ZAXIMUS - What got me into playing ? Well early on it would have been Deep Purple and Black Sabbath and Queen in terms of 'noticing' guitar playing but about the time i started playing I guess it was the NWOBHM. Confused? Thought so (lol) New Wave Of British Heavy Metal - Saxon, Tytan, Angelwitch and a whole host of other bands that you would probably not have heard of. Early guitar gods? Yngwie, Uli Jon Roth, Joe, Steve (all around the mid eighties) oh and of course AC/DC, Metallica and Anthrax and most of the artists signed to Roadrunner Records.

NWOBHM? Yeah! Diamondhead, Blitzkrieg, Misfits. I wasn't really aware of it when it was happening (I was in grade school). But I've read about it. That's what influenced a lot of my influences (so I'm a 2nd generation NWOBHM'er)

ZAXIMUS - Diamondhead yes, Blitzkreig and Misfits were more Punk. Punk was late '76 - '80ish, NWOBHM was '79 to mid '80s. No guitar solos in Punk was the main difference, well in terms of the 'principle' of it. God that was along time ago................ Am I Evil........... are you f**k (lol)

Mr Nick - thanks for the Joe interview link. Wow, was it just me, or did the tone of the interview seemed tense and hurried? The questions could have been a bit better, but Joe's answeres were really short. Granted, it was cool that Joe did the interview, considering it wasn't a big name site, but I felt bad for the interviewer. Maybe Joe was just really busy.

An example of what I'm talking about:

Q: Are there many outlets, especially radio, that cater to your style of music?

A: Yes.

gruskada..yeah.it is short.perhaps they were going for the "short and sweet" version of interviewing there. but it still gave us some little bits..like a new live dvd with a twist..

clarky..i'm listening to the bad horsire jam thing off your website as i type this..everyone should check it out...its amazing.... clarky...you really need to get a record deal and get some albums out!!!!!! and a world tour with Joe. You should be on the next G5 along with Matt King and Neil Morgan (master yoda) and can i have the backing track you used on it please??

r6r - ha... the Texan in me is down to over exposure to the culture for the numerous times I worked in Dallas over the last few years..... the locals say once a Texan always a Texan... lol lol... well god-dang bubba!!!
on another note..... Angel Witch and Tytan.... dude I was there... I went to the first Tytan gig ever [at the Marquee].. I was big into Angel Witch [have the first album on the black plastic stuff... and the single - signed by Skids...]... I saw Maiden in the Ruskin with Diano.... so getting a bit eclectic... I also was into Tygers of Pang Tang, Diamondhead, Praying Mantis, Girlschool, I saw Girl [with Phil Colen before he went to Def Lep [and saw them to before Phil ... they were terrible..lol] and Motorhead with Larry Wallace [before fast Eddie]... saw More with the fat shredder with the mahogany V [he rocked].... now ain't I an old git or what... need carbon dating me.....lol but those were great times.... a great gig every other week... now I'm gonna sound like me dad..."those were the days"...lol lol lol
Ovation - if you spend your spare time dressing up in a huge yellow bird suit I'm gonna tell yo momma.... lol lol
Zaximus - if you suffer persistantly with tendonitis you may want to take a very close looks at either your technique, posture or both.... I used to get this but mended it...
mr Nick - my site is IUMA so it's not really geared up for that much text.... I'll need to build me a 'real' web site to do this... maybe I will in the future.... I have been stashing this stuff in Word though so if you need older stuff I can find it...

Invigor - Bad!

Viking5150 - Damn straight. My fave tracks are Babushka, Burning Rain, Iberian Jewel, Giant Balls of Gold, Principessa, Brandos Costumes and the solos to Black Forest and Burning Rain blow my mind.

Austin - Thanks for checking those videos out. A friend and another performer of that concert was filming. I was confused with the delay to view the guitar solo aswell.

Clarky - The biggest clip on that site is not even 4mb. The other 2 are even smaller. It shouldn't take you more than 6 minutes to d/l the largest one.

Clarky, I gotta ask someone from Britain; I watch a lot of Monty Python and a word that often comes up in the dialogue is the word "git". I take it as some form of insult. What does it mean?

After 2 days of being away from T2J, Happy b-day Clarky.

DannyK - So I hear you're playing in, Pickering was it? I think... with Nick Lee opening up for you? I'll very most likely be there.

JSC1 : 'git' is a word that normally refers to a miserable lonely old man... but it can also be applied to just about everyone that you want to be nasty too...

i'm not saying that clarky is an old git... before i get told off by someone... mentioning no names...

sorry to butt in clarky...

Hello Dear Joe and Joe fans...

I am new in here and I have a question... I don't know if it's too personal, but I'll appreciate if someone who knows the answer or even Joe himself answers my question...

I wonder what's the place of GOD in Joe's life? Does he have the Lord in his life? I just assume he has and I want to find out... I also would like to find out if he has any songs dedicated to our Lord?

Joe is such a great artist, such a beautiful person, a great talent... he is a blessing to our world... I love him, not only for his music but his great personality... He is one of us, among us... not like other so famous stars...

Every time I listen to Joe, I thank God that He blessed us with a such great talent...

I appreciate your answers...Please do not take this post as a means to start a Believer versus non-believer thread. If you do not agree with this post, I ask that you please respectfully decline to comment.

Thank you,

John

Hi joe, I just got into your music from my girlfriend's dad, who probably is the biggest fan of yours that i know to date. Anyway, his 50th birthday is coming up on Oct. 15th, 2002. And me and my gf don't know what to get him. Since he loves your music and stuff, I was wondering if you could plan something in the future to call him and talk to him to wish him a happy birthday or meet him sometime and jam on the guitar. He plays the guitar also and he is rather good. We went to your's and dream theater's concert when you guys came to pittsburgh and you should've seen the smile on his face. I know this would make his 50th really special if you could do this. If you can't, I understand, I mean, I'm just a 16 year old fan from Pittsburgh. But, if you could let me know somehow that would be great. Thanks for reading this and hopefully you can make his big 5-0 special. Your fan, Mark

Whojack, know what's funny? Me too!!! LOL!!!

I picked up the AC/DC~ For Those About To Rock cd today. I had it back in the day, but it disappeared somewhere over the years. They were my favorite band back then. Man, this cd rocks!! I forgot how much I loved Inject the Venom and the rest of the songs. lol! I heard the first riff of that song and it stopped me in my tracks. Whoooo! Goosebumps! lol! Lots of good memories are tied to this old cd. Music IS the soundtrack of life.

Alex: I thought so... after all, we're neighbors. Just keep it in writing, though, I'm not sure I would understand you if we were talking face to face. ;)

If anyone was curious of what I was telling Joe to say to the crowd at his next concert in Stockholm, Sweden, it translates like this: "Hi, my name is Joe and I'm pretty good at playing guitar." Not very exciting, no... Hey, if you have suggestions on what Joe should say while he's here, post it here and I'll translate it for ya'! LOL
