Hi everyone, I've noticed that a lot of guitars by various companies have Seymour Duncan pickups...or Duncan Designed pickups...is there a particular type of sound that Seymour Duncan pickups are known for producing? Are they special for some reason?

ocps470 .....i did not like my jem for the longest time! i normally play either my rg7620 , or uv777, it has taken me a long time to get used to the jem. but now i like it.
as for the heavier strings i just like the added tension of .10's i have used .09's until about march of this year.
the question of versitility of sounds the jem's produce, i have been able to get every thing from funky out of phase strat cluck to twangy tele like tones to full on hollow body woody tone out of my jem. so i think they are fairly versitile instruments , like i said i have just started liking it more in the last 2 months or so
thanx for your time

Hello Joe and everyone. I tried to post this once and something happened, so now I must write it again. Joe my question for you is did you ever study counterpoint? If so, how often do you use it in your writing? I am reading a book on it and I seem to be getting it ok, but if anyone out there knows a lot about counterpoint and composition please email me at Methodically_yours@yahoo.com. Hope all is well with you Joe and everyone reading this.

Hey, it's me once again. Just wanting anyone that is on to know that the concert on Dec. 5th in MN has an age restriction of 21+. This is totally not fair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't think that anyone wanting to go to a Satch concert would be detered by the fact that they wouldnt be serving alchohol. I mean c'mon .... this is Satch, he hasnt come to MN for as long as I have been a fan. I would ask that if anyone knows how to contact someone of power, that could change this ridiculous rule. For instance, someone that could say... hey either you let all ages in or we dont do the concert, they will be forced to let all ages in. I dont know, maybe I am crazy, but hopefully i can get the people on this website to protest loudly enough that someone will read about it and change it. If you agree with me please mention something on here about how they should remove the 21+ age rule for the MN concert on Dec. 5 whenever you place a post. That would be great. MAN DO I WANT TO SEE SATCH IN CONCERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just for my taste in strings - I like 9's on the high side because they're comfortable for me. For my 4th, 5th and 6th strings, I use regular guage (what you'd get in a set of 10's)...this gives me more of a ballsey sound on the rhythm side which is good considering that I'm the lone guitar player in my band and my rhythm has to sound as good as my solos. Anyway, just my own input there :)
Joe when are you coming back to Baltimore?

Hey does anybody know how to play Big Sur Moon by Buckethead? I have figured out something that's probably halfway right, but I'd like to have it completely right.

Actually /\/\ike it's not that heavy because it's so thin - that why I went for a flat mounted trem! Yeah it's kinda like a Green Meanie but I put EVH-y stripes on it too. Dumbass! Such a lovely piece of wood! The pickup is basically a PAF+ and a Super Distortion in one humbucker. It's pretty neat :-) I have a huge slab of Padauk wood here, waiting to be my next mean machine ;-) Thanks re: CD. I *really* appreciate that! Do you want to have my children by any chance ROFL!!!!!!!!!
Phy3 - congrats :-))))))
It sucks about your over 21 shows! Here in England even though they sell beer at some (maybe even all) venues even little 'uns can get in. I'm sorry for you guys. JOE can you do anything about it?
OK, so I can write tunes, and I can play pretty well... but going through my MPEG collection I just watched Joe Steve & JP at G3 (which, don't get me wrong, was amazing), then I watched Malmsteen (wanker, but good player), and THEN... I just watched Paul Gilbert play Into The Night, Motor Man and (OMG!!!!) Scarified live at the Whiskey. Don't be surprised if you don't see me here too often... I have a lot of work to do!!!!
OK guys, sorry for the long post.... I'm off to bed now (0630!!!!!) to enjoy my "extra hour" :-) Enjoy your Sunday! Dave

I use 10's for my strat, good sustain, plus I won't accidentally bend strings, won't break easily as well.

Tergee: What's this all about?!?!:....MR WEBMASTER/JON?!?!
hey dude,
At one point you toured the southeastern us. The romour was that you stopped off in Florence Alabamaand did a show. I met a fan that saw it at Flowers Hall at the University of North Alabama, did the show and hit the road in a day or so. Hope ya got to sample some of the flavor of the locals and the re-knowned recording studios. Now, some where, some time, ya decided to drop one of your guitars and tour case. Have the serial number of it and the case with radio active marks on the Ibanez porfessional case. Would prefer to cooaberate about the authenticity of this item in email. the webmaster should have the nessacary address. Hope it inspires a good memory at the least. gortie
ethn: I hear ya dude :-)
MegaBoyd: I see....It is soo kuul watching the sign as the camera pans in from the audience when JOE start's the intro's, lol!!....Could I have your autograph too!! ;-)....Speaking of PROG X: How's your album coming along dude!! I can't wait to hear it!!....You still have my addy, right?!?!....
PhryDom: Dave, sounds awesome bro'!!....I think Steves is in a museum somewhere....Padauk wood, lol, where is that from??....There is a beautiful wood that comes from Hawaii (Kona, I believe) and Ibanez has started using it!!......BTW, bearing children would be the last thing I'd like to try to do!! ROFL!!!!..Give me a few day's to order the cd :-)....BTW, I was thinking about getting "LATW" RacerX....Sounds like it's worth it!!!!....Paul is a madman!!....Incredible technique, and his shred NEVER GETS BORING LIKE YNGWIE's, LOL!!
LOL Narface! Me too!! Especially the cheap red can....113 yen
