Nick - got this from the FAQ in the Archive Vault:

#31 dazajac Q: Hey Joe! A good friend of mine told me that you and Steve Vai got together and wrote a couple, at least one, song. He said that the song he heard was called Formula 1. Is there any truth to this, and if so, is it possible that you two might put out a recording of it. Thanks.
A: not me...

Dear Joe, I am a student from Saudi Arabia here in the US, I have been going to school for more than a year now.I came here so I can enhance my education and learn as much as I can so that when I go home I can help provide for my family and maybe contribute in educating my people. Due to the tensions between americans and arabs and all the racism that has been going on back and forth, at many times I do not feel that I belong here and at times I feel very down and that I can't go on with my studies. Many of my friends that came here to study have went back home because of all this tension, they could not go on and they felt they should be close to their families. I am by myself here, and it's hard, but one thing, and I am being very honest, that gives inspiration to complete my studies is your music. When I listen to it I fell that I can accomplish anything no matter what stands in my way. It gives me alot of joy and energy to keep learning and not give up. I want to thank you very much for this, I know this might seem silly since I don't know you, but I have alot of respect for your music and I hope you don't stop doing what you do..I will always be a fan.Thank you Abdullah

OK guys i need your help. I'm sure you've seen me post a couple of messages in the past about me looking for an amp, and recently the Marshall AVT50head looked quite nice for my price budget. But now i'm stuck again. Since i'm doing GCSE music at school and we've started doing compositions as coursework it would be really handy if i could record onto my pooter (computer). At school we have 3 computers and each one has CubaseVST and its excellent for recording stuff using a keyboard. It would save me a lot of time if i was able to do this but i am unable to because neither school or i has anything that i can plug my guitar into which will enable me to record stuff onto Cubase. So...i'm now thinking about scrapping the whole idea of getting an amp for chirstmas and instead buying a Line6 guitar port or maybe a pod. Does anyone have any help/suggestions/ etc which maybe would help me? Any help will be greatly appreciated......Joe Rules.....

XCPX: If Joe says he didn't do it, I'll go with that. I think I got that track when AudioGalaxy was going, and it's *kinda* like our guys, but not quite. There are four jams of the *real* Joe & Steve on this site.

And the amp / recording thing - my Behringer V-Amp 2 is *the business*. There's a free software editor for it, and you'd only need a simple adaptor cable to get its output into your pooter (one of those "big to little headphone things". There're amp sims and speaker sims built in, along with FX, etc. They're dead cheap, built well, and you can also download patches from the net onto them. I think I paid just over a ton for mine - they're probably a bit cheaper now. *And* you can plug it into an amp or PA for playing live. Check out behringer.com for more info.

HTH dude, and anyone I didn't thank for the recent stuff - thanks! I emailed some of you personally, but not all of you have your emails visible. Enjoy your weekend! Dave

XCrystal PlanetX!! Here's the advice you're looking for...

Yes... I heard those Line 6 guitar ports are really cool..... and if you have a pretty good PC with a good sound card?! Then the Guitar port is right for you... But the PODs will give you any Amp Tone, Distortion, Reverb, Delay, Tremolo, Chorus you can think of out of your current amp!!

It would be like having a whole new amp and effects line up already for you... and they can be used with Midi as well on your PC...

I myself, have The Line 6 Spider 212 100 watt combo amp... under $1000.00 and it's loud, I mean really loud... you could drown out any drum set with that puppy! it gives you all the best Classic Amp Tones including all the best Modern Amp Tones... then it has all your phrasing effects: Chorus, Flange, Tremolo... 3 different delays... Delay, Tape Echo, Ping Pong... 4 channels all programable... and Digital Reverb... Sweet sounds come out of this thing... and then I rigged up a way to record direct into my PC... Amazing sounds can be reproduced if you have the right recording software and the intiative to experiment!!!

The tunes I have on my iuma site show some of the different tones you can get with some of the Line 6 products!!! Download and I hope you enjoy...

Clarky, the whammy bar itself slots into the hole, and then you tighten it via a kind of nut at the bottom. Hope you have a solution to the problem - the guitar won't fit into any kind of case.

Thankyou all that helped with the recording question. PhrygianDominant The guitar port sounds alright but my pooter is getting a little pooey now, lol not much room leaft on the hard drive and my sound card isn't exactly top of the range so i think that i'd favour the POD over the Port. Hehe i think i'll take a lot at that Behringer link you gave me, heh you seem to rate them highly and always mention them when i ask about something like this so i'll take a look, thanks! Plumloco Thank you too, i know the POD is guaranteed to be the business, i've got the 'Jam with Joe Satriani' book and the guitarist on there (Jamie Humphries) uses the POD on every track and even better it gives you the POD settings in the front of the book which they used on the recordings! Well i've got a lot of choices to make yet, only 11 shopping weeks leaft till Chirstmas! lol! ;)........Joe Rules......

Just thought I would pop by to say hullo...been a long time.

Don't have time to read all the posts, in fact, I think that may be just as well. Things seem to be getting a bit heated in here lately....just a thought, maybe some people have too much time on their hands!

I think all this swearing etc is deeply disrespectful to Joe...would you walk into his house and use the language you use on here?(I won't be specific, but you know if the cap fits wear it....)

Also, would you disrespect his friends and their views? I don't think so.

This site seems to draw out the best and the worst in people..it never ceases to amaze me.

PhrygianDominant ::drools:: i've had a look at that link you gave me about the Behringer v-amp2 and im liking what im seeing. I had a look on google too for some reviews and i've heard nothing but good news about them so far! I also like the look of them (blue is my fave colour lol) Just a couple more questions to iron out, do you use your v-amp2 to record onto your computer? How easy is it? Do i need to buy extra software to make the most of all the v-amp's MIDI options? Because thats the real reason im looking out for something like this, they're really cheap too! So i'll have money leaft for sweeties lol ........Joe Rules.......

Anyhow, Phrygian Dominant I hope you decide to stick around. The more, the merrier...

J Blaze....very well said.

Whoever told that Osama / New York Jets joke, I forgot your "nick", was it punkdude 75? I know you did'nt mean to be dis-respectful, but it's hard to laugh at a joke like that.

Anyways, we have a "gig" Saturday night (tomorrow) up in the town of Orr, Minnesota (the city that means well). All of my T2J friends are cordially invited.

"Now if a six...turned out to be nine...I don't mind...I don't mind

"If all the hippies....cut off their hair....I don't care...I don't care

XCrystalplanetX - I've done GCSE Music and most of A level music (A* for GCSE, pretty garunteed A for a level, and I really don't think recording at home is neccessary for either- there is a minimal amount of recording, and if you have little hard drive space, it'll be not worth it- to record properly on PCs you need a dedicated computer to it really, with the right kinda components and enough disk space- you might as well get a digital multitracker like a Boss BR8 second hand (they go for around £200, great little units... but at your age (assuming you're 15/16 I would certainly stick on the amp line.

Any thoughts on the Ibanez EDC 705 bass guitar anyone?

Paul H: that's a good point, actually! I did some recorded stuff for my O Level and used two "ghetto blasters" doing the sound-on-sound thing! Very worthy of note for......

XCPX: Yes - the V-Amp 2 goes straight into my soundcard. Like I said - one of those "little to big" headphone adaptors is all you need. For the MIDI stuff - take the MIDI out from your PC to the MIDI in on the V-Amp, and the MIDI-out from the V-Amp to the MIDI in of your computer. Easy as pie. All your patches load up instantly, you get a computer "copy" of your V-Amp and you can "virtually" twiddle all the knobs on the screen with the mouse! Apparently there are a lot of functions available through the software that you can't get to very easily from the unit itself too. I downloaded some patches and they're really cool, eg. Joe's SWTA sound, SV's Flexable sound, a Robert Fripp sound, an Andy Summers sound, etc. Maybe see if that shop (foryour work experience) could lend you one for a few days (or weeks?!). Also check out the others - I hear the Line 6 range is good, but was more than happy with my Behringer :-)

Dave Mc: I'm still here! For now anyway!!! and you're right - the more the merrier, definitely!!!!

Song quote of the day: Move over dad 'cause I'm a double dipper
Upside down on th big dip dipper

Movie quote of the day: "I am the great Cornholio. I need TP for my bunghole. Bunghole. Bungholio!!!

Sorry for the long post - I had a lot to say (yeah, as usual LOL)!!!!
