Ovation? - Harem Scarem are a pretty cool bunch of guys(& good musicians too) but are not very well known in North America.
to add to the fancy of those interested in 2 handed tapping, here's a lick with the same kind of though behind it as clarky's. here goes 12-0-5-7-8-12-8-7-5-0 or for an added twist add the 3rd finger from your picking hand & you get 12-0-5-7-8-12-15-12-8-7-5-0 these 2 tapping licks work great over a funky A-9 type of vamp have a great day Danny K

Looking to buy a JS series guitar, but I've hit a road block.
The only difference (aside from color availability) between the JS1000 and JS2000 is the bridge. The JS2000 has an "FX bridge", and I can't find what exactly that is, anywhere. Anyone care to explain the difference between the two guitars? Would appreciate it :).

phryg dom / ovation - I like simple... for home use, the only thing I'm interested in is the mechanical transfer of my ideas onto 'tape'... the quicker and easier it is then the better... I'm most interested in the composition and orchestration... so I leave all the fancy recording to the pro's... there is no way that you'll get a home setup to sound like a $300,000 plus studio... so don't try... write and record at home to 'sketch it out'... without paying massive amounts of attention to the quality of the recording or the performance - so I get it sounding 'pretty ok'.... which is serves its purpose...

In my books,Dream Theater is the best Vocal Band! The best Heavy Metal Band The best Rock Opera band Best all around Musicians.......On the Frikazian planet...!:) I finally saw them live at Pompano Beach,Florida 2 months ago.I was totally in shock,Portnoy made it look soooo damn effortless & the timing was flawless. Petrucci was Too professional..lol.. The bass player mirrored what Petrucci was doing in perfect synch The Keyboard player didn't miss a lick. The sound was excellent.......I can't say anything but good things about these guys.
But Joe is still the best Guitar solo artist around:)

JBlaze, my guess is that you haven't switched to decafe yet. LOL!! But then again, I'm feeling like such a turtle today. Turtle, turtle. :)
Mike Portnoy is awesome! Check out his dvd Liquid Drum Theater if you have a chance. He chalks up his drumming skills in one phrase "it's all math". Shaaaaaa! Math, great reflexes, a fantastic memory, and good hair. LOL!!

Lyz have you tried the ibanez.com website. They explain a llitle about the two different bridges. I know that Satch used the JS2000 on the new album for a few tracks. I think that it just provides a different tonality to the guitar- if that makes sense!?

Thanks for checking out Jason's stuff. He's the most insane player I know, personally. He is even better at recording engineering.
death cube K - Yeah, he does sound like Holdsworth at times, I hear alot of Shawn Lane and Brett Garsed too. I wish he would release some of his other material. The music at his mP3 site is all his shredder stuff. I love it, but he's not just a shredder. He has a catalogue of over 5k songs; lives and breaths writing, recording and teaching. Very cool guy to hang with.
OCPS470 - I'll check your stuff out tomorrow night, have DSL at the studio, slow here though. Cool web-site.

lyz the fx-edge is a fixed bridge.. it *looks* like the regular edge whammy, but it doesn't float.
portnoy's got nothin' on peart ... and quite honestly, i'm sure portnoy would agree ;-)

austin, get a loaf... i was pretty darn sure a rimshot was something else... where you hold the bottom end of the drumstick on the skin and then hit the rim with the normal part of the stick- great sound... i was pretty certain, though I could well be wrong.

yea lyz, the 2000cg has a fixed bridge which means no whammy stuff like satch boogie...joe wanted a js1000 with a fixed bridge to give him more sustain, and that's what they came up with..and a new paint job.
