Leanna Usher: Thank you LGU89, it is nice to know that you, at least, understand the importance of Christ in all of our lives. Death Cube K: Yes, I am aware, but it is of little relevance here. Clarky: For an educated person (where music is concerned at least) you are very wrong with your dates. Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ was born on the 25th December. However, I recall our conversations from the past and I am in no hurry to re-open that debate with you, especially when your bigoted views are so wrong. God bless. Peace.

Natsa: Is it of any relevance somewhere else??....BTW, I don't recall your views with Clarky in the past......Perhaps before my time on this site, but not knowing the dates of the birth of Christ makes one a biggot!?!? And you are assuming (we all know what that stands for) that LGU89 is the only person here who appreciates Christ!!!!....And you are calling Clarky a biggot!?!?

Nite all, Peace, /\/\ike

Hey Joe, I finally was able to log onto your site...I wanted to THANK YOU for the inspiring music you have put out since day one...I've not only bought every album you have made, I have also passed them on to others..RE: Im 36 years old, been a deputy sheriff for 15 years, seen alot, done alot, and seen things I never want to see again..Over the past 15 years, I never realized how this job took its toll on me psychologically..Jan 2002 I snapped..It wasnt pretty, I almost lost my wife/family, dropped 30 pounds, and was literally losing it..short story, I sought help, was off work for a month, and had to put myself back together..this sounds corny, but I found peace, comfort, and my sanity, by driving to our farm in Oklahoma, from Ca,(23 hours straight) with all my CD's..but, I cant explain why "Flying in a Blue Dream" eased my pain. It was like a trusted friend from the past...It helped me when I needed it most..I Thank You Joe..see you at Konocti, W Grant

Hey People, back for one day only before another 3 days away. Just got over a nasty little stomach bug, 4 days off work............ good for guitar playing though ;-) Probably the first time in my life that i've not been full of shit!

SILMARIEN,CLARKY,OVATION, SINISTER and NATY - thanks for the congrats.

CLARKY - Yeah i do remember your cheat as well ;-) On the Xmas commercialism thing, did you know that Santa was always traditionally dressed in green until Coca Cola used him for marketing puposes ? Who let the Salvation Army in here anyway ? On a different subject, I've got a challenge for you............. how about covering Hoedown off the ELP 'Welcome back........' album ? Now that would be impressive, if not commercial.

KINGER - Congrats on the job dude, i hope you're still in it!

OVATION - I liked my IUMA definition better (heh heh). Just a thought Mike, I was reading somewhere the other day that Okinawa was famous for some digusting culinary delight (pigs ears/ trotters ?)........... what delights have you tried while you've been out that way................ fish semen for example (don't cringe guys, you can get it, blah!)

ODE - No problem dude, hope your situation improves

PHRY DOM - fell back to the face of the earth man :-) NIce to see you on form with the edits - lol - speliing mistakes, whatever next? Anal as ever or do i mean as me ?lmao As far as christmas, i heard that he'd been back and got hit by flying lead.................... i thought that my recovery rate was bad but coming twice in 2000 years ! (yeah okay, but my edits were grammatical - rofl!)

Mike / Ovation: I see that you are in Japan. A country that would not understand the values of Christ, which in some ways explains your attitude. As for the dates, yes, it is important, especially as the dates that Clarky refers too only serve to reveal him as a heretic. When the nails were driven through the wrists of Christ he wept, for he knew that people like you and Clarky were beyond saving. Yet he still died for your sins. God bless. Peace.

PhrygianDominant, I was aware of the CFCFAC tuning for the Rhythm guitar. When you play the rhythm using this tuning, it sounds correct. The confusion began as to what lead was played in. I assumed it was the same tuning. Apparently, my assumption was off which may be why I was having so much trouble getting lead to sound right.
(line) Can anyone recommend other guitarists to listen to (eventhough none can be as good as Joe). I listen to Vai, Johnson, and some Gary Hoey (which can be very weak at times). any other suggestions?

Natsa, Glad to hear that Jesus is your Lord and Savior but Clarky is correct, Jesus was not born on December 25. The month and date of Jesus birth are NOT mentioned in the Bible. The New Catholic Encyclopedia acknowledges: "The date of Christ's birth is not known. The Gospels indicate neither the day nor thr month...accepted by most scholars today, the birth of Christ was assigned the date of the winter solstice ( December 25 in the Julian calendar) because on this day, the pagan devotees of Mithra celebrated the dies natalis Solis Invicti ( birthday of the invincible sun). On Dec 25, 274 Aurelian had proclaimed the sun-god the principal patron of the empire. Natsa, can you see where the birthday of one God was replaced by another? The Encyclopedia Americana says:"The reason for establishing Dec 25 as Christmas is somewhat obscure, but it is usually held that the day was chosen to correspond to pagan festivals...The Roman Saturnalia also took place at this time, and some Christmas customs are thought to be rooted in this ancient pagan celebration." Bible scholars also agree that Jesus was born sometime in the fall not the winter, Clarky was right there too. Natsa, I am not asking you to believe me, please do the research yourself. The important thing to remember is that Jesus died for our sins and THAT date is in the bible.

PARSELL - Here's a few for you.......... Frank Zappa (Albums - Hot Rats and Shut Up and Play Your Guitar)....... Paul Gilbert, Uli Jon Roth, John Petrucci, Shawn Lane (Rock Based)........ Mike Keneally, Pat Metheny, Alan Holdsworth (Jazzish/ Avante Garde), other personal favorites in the rock vein would be Nuno Bettencourt (Ex Extreme) and Vito Bratta (Ex White Lion - great sense of melody), You could also try out John McClaughlin, Paco De Lucia and Al Di Meola (especially together - classical/jazz sorta sound) Hope this is helpful, but they are only my tastes. ;-)

I have to agree with Clarky!....December 25 th was celebrated by the Pegans for reasons other than the birth of Christ.Don't quote me but I THINK it was a Pegan New Year celebration. That's why they put lights in the trees. We just adopted that tradition.Christmas is over rated anyway.......Baa......Baa......humbug

I thought Nashville tuning was when you replaced the wound strings with unwound and then tuned them up an octave. This way, you can still pay chords using the standard grips, but you get an interesting, 12-string type sound, since there are a lot of unison notes going on. Meybe this is what ethn meant to say, or maybe I'm full of it and wrong... who knows?

stu clone - an interesting thing about effects is knowing how the effect messes with the input signal. When you start getting your head around this stuff, it makes life alot easier when setting up sounds because you can think more in terms of the egress waveform your looking for and therefore, how to achieve it. It means that you can get closer to the sound you're looking for quicker and with less 'fumbling around' with controls....

Matt - no I was not putting down your knowledge.... lol.... I was trying to add to it.....

aug 6ths are mostly used around cadences particularly during a modulation....

Here's and interesting little thing for you to do.... Work out a German 6th in the key of Am. Then look at the intervals this chord creates with respect to it's bass note [so you can re-name the chord]...... let me know what you come up with - and no cheating by studying Schubert / Beethoven Symphonies....... the German 6th is a favourite of mine for the very reason that I'm hoping you to discover.......

If I put you down it is to do with your self confidence...... you are a fine palyer..... know it within your self... be comfortable knowing it.... but never rest on it - continue to strive....

ovation - a real nice modulation by Vai occurs in Tender Surrender... beautiful stuff...

Me and Natsa had quite a drains up in the chat room around 6 to 9 months ago

The overall vibe was "is Christianity just a sect / diversion from the original Jewish faith and if so, does that not mean that it is a dilute form of the original faith"

So we debated the christian thing and my take is that, to me [being non religious] Christianity seems to have been completely manufactured by those that wielded the power - so the pope could act as a King of people without needing to be the king of a nation... the faith was therefore bent to serve political a purpose in the name of God..... which renders it 'a fabrication' under the guise of an organised faith...

The true faith [if you feal the need to be religous] I guess from a historical angle would be Judaism / Essene

does my thinking make me a biggot??? lol lol
