crushingday62...you need yo warm up first...no point going into fast legato without warming up otherwise your fingers will get tired and after years of doing this will damage them in some way. so before you launch into satch speed stuff...play ssome scales up and down all over the neck to get warmed up and get your fingers into action. do some chromatic stuff too.

anyhoo, matt, like i said before, nice site, glad to see you got it up and runnin with the *cough* image maps ;) time for some rollovers now..just to make it interesting.
and to confirm it, the js2000 has a fixed bridge, no whammy. so no squealin harmonic dives :/ sorry, that's why i got the js1000bp baby...gonna get joe to sign it next time he's in toronto, hear that joe?
NEXT TIME YOU'RE IN TORONTO JOE (or closer to me) I'M GOING TO BE THERE SO YOU CAN SIGN MY JS1000BP

Hello Mr Satriani,
My name is Alexandros Theodorakopoulos and I am from Greece. I listened to your work just few days ago and I feel shocked with your music and your technique. I hadn't listened to your your work before because I usually listen to classical and Jazz music. I study the saxophone and I would like to ask you if there is point in trying to play your music on my instrument. I would really appreciated it if you could give me some advice on this matter because your music is something I really want to play. Thank you in advance and be sure that I will be there when you come to my country.

I need an opinion from anyone....I'm looking at possibly getting an RGT42 in Black pearl, Ibanez of course. Have a look at their site and tell me what you think. I'm always hearing how terrible the Lo-TRS bridge is, but I was told that they are not that bad if set up properly.
9 days Joe.....only 9 days left :) :) :)

Hello fellow Satchaholics! I've decided to play guitar in a classical music recital at my school in February. Does anyone have any suggestions for a song? It has to be a classical selection. I want something that sounds cool, but isn't super difficult to play. I'm a medical student, so I don't have a ton of spare time to practice. Thanks for your help everyone...PS...I would love to play "Midnight," but I have no idea how that tapping technique works...does anyone know of a book/site/whatever where it is explained? Joe, if you have any suggestions, feel free to chime in! Peace out:)

Sharif - Your band? Any clips? Style?
PhryDom - Yeah, it's cool when you can find ways to use your tongue. There's the most common, sliding your tongue across one string and trilling at a certain point on the fretboard to get all the crazy harmonics. There's a few I do like strumming chords in certain places to get harmonics out of them, or getting natural harmonics by fretting a note and licking the same note an octave higher. Whammy Dive bomb, and when i'm about to let the string up, touch my tongue to a fret to make a harmonic and raise. Sounds great if timed right. I have a video of myself doing that last year. I have another but it's still on Hi-8 (camcorder tape).
There'll be more videos coming December when I hopefully play my sets for my school's xmas assembly. That's all i've been talking about since August.
Master Yoda - My hand's tolerance for usage is improving greatly but work can still make it sore for a day.
Hmmm... War vs Attack... I... don't know.
Matt King / JaiBee - GOOO RAHH! http://www.satriani.com/2000/road/2000-04-25/3joes.jpg
MotorMouth - Weird Satch dreams? You should hear some of Clone 2's dreams. WEIRD STUFF. Nothing derogatory.
Bet it sucked when you awoke eh?
I'd comment on my dreams, but i'd probably be committed. Stuff that keeps me awake at night... my own mind is against me.
McDave - TRS, some people have reported tuning probs, others report complete tuning stability. Still whammies nicely. Has great string mileage in my experiences. The thing that the TRS just can't get around is it's wear. Once the knife edges wear, there's no way to replace or repair them. Gotta get a new TRS if you like your guitar that much after 3 years.

Matt - Site looks bloody excellent. Lotsa good stuff, pics music, reviews, shows, it's got it all... for now.
News?
LGU - Well just think of it as 7 strings and you could put any string in any spot.
Taditionally though, the stings normally go lower in a rock context.
Some guitarists though, will put say, 2 string tuned to B (a high B) to perform more intricate chords.

Hi everyone. Wow! There were a lot of posts today... I'm voting for War, so I believe that the current total is War 8, Attack 4.
Mr Nick - Happy 300! The Aerosmith Behind The Music episode is supposed to rerun on December 18 at 7:00 PM Eastern time. So look in your local listings to see when it airs in the UK.
kinger - What did Joe do for Crowded House?
matt king - That's a good joke...LOL.
badandymac - Can you link me to a picture of what you're talking about?
Jaibee - I think Joe's best solo is in Why. The solo starts at 2:02, but my favorite part is from 2:36 - 2:55. It's a shame that he isn't playing this part live. Oh well.
crushingday62 - The album shows up on Ebay occasionally. It usually goes for around $500. 4 of the 5 songs on it are on Time Machine. The 5th (the 1st on the actual record), Talk To Me, wasn't included because of problems with the master tape. You can find it on many of the file-sharing programs, though.
LGU89 - I love hearing instrumental music (Satch, Vai, EJ) in the background on the radio. It's so cool. Also, seven string guitars usually have the 7th string tuned to a low B. So instead of E-A-D-G-B-E, it's B-E-A-D-G-B-E. Make sense?
drafter37 - Do you have your picture with Joe online?
Silmarien - Hook is a remake of Peter Pan that was done a few years ago. Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman are in it.
...Austin...

r6r - the last time I saw UJR was at a G3 gig in Manchester UK [along with Schenker].... UJR is such a lovely player to watch as well as to hear
sounds like you saw an awesome gig - I'm jealous
Yoda - I can't find the example with a C chord.... the only chord I did with the note C was a 7th chord and C was the 7th.
V - I sus4 - I = dominant chord - tonic chord sus4 - tonic.....
I dont see where you get the sub-dom from.... unless I'm looking at the wrong post.... If you find the post then repost the erroneous example so that I can look at it.....
Jam... definately... I'll sort out a date/s.....
Ken - been a long time.... how y'all doin' bro..
Ovation - looked into the eyes of the Samauri...... there's a big story in there... pride, devotion, strength, refinement, almost unforgiving cruelty but without rage or anger..but most of all, duty and honour.. interesting vibes....

Ya Yo has started a GUERRILLA ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN ON BEHALF OF JOE SATRIANI thats right... so what am i doing? printing www.satriani.com on the back of all my currency before i spend it....why the back and not the front you ask? cause you always hand the cashier money face up, if they all had satriani.com on the front they may think u are doing it....so to join this campaign print www.satriani.com on the back of all your currency in 14 point font....lets spread the word!
song of the day - the word - the beatles
p.s JOE- thanks for not playing at humphrey's by the bay in san diego, those chumps don't need satch fans spending money at their venue....even though us 21 and unders cant see you it may be worth it if humphreys isnt getting the cash!.... "i hate those bastards"

Silmarien: no worries, after all I don't know any Polish other than names. Then again Satriani isn't English anyway...
Matt King: Ba doom CHING!
Not really two of my faves, but I'd have to say the "tuff"ness of War pushes it over the line for me...
NOW it's War-8 Attack-4
Well I thought Hook was a good movie when I was a kid...
Austin: Joe was a backup singer. Don't know for which songs but. On the "Crowded House" album I believe.

Narface: if you pull the phone plug out partly, you are only allowing one side of the stereo connection. In other words, you are listening to only the left (I think) channel.
YaYo: defacing legal tender is a federal offence. I don't think Joe wants to be held responsible for this. After all, it's he or Jon that are going to get in trouble about it. Until they find your post and Jon gives them your details. Have a nice day.
Later all, BEN
