Phrygian Dominant: it is pronounced exactly as it is spelled: G'DAY. G (guh with shortened vowel) Day. Take no notice of TV personalities, esp the Croc Hunter or Croc Dundee or any other travesty to Australian culture. Neighbours for example.
In case you were unbeknownst, down here we say whole sentences as one whole slurred word. "G'day! Hazzaga-arn?" (Good day, how's it going) "Yeo-orite" (yeah alright) "Tsgah-arnon?" (what's going on)
Repeat these over and over, (pronounced as it is read, hyphens denoting prolonged sound) and soon you too will be impossible to understand, just like me.
Oops forgot one important one: "hayyagarn?" (how're you going)

Varied setlists? Do a "rarities" tour! With lots of great songs that are constantly left off the setlist. But, uh, only do this if you come back to Boston!!!

Stu Clone - HAHAHAHAHA!!!!
The Extremist - So you're saying, because Romeo likes his own music, he obviously has soul in his playing. Not to my ears. To me, it's someone trying to play as fast as possible over a neoclassical progression.. again... and again... .... notes always just flying by. So what? It's been done in the 80's. Where's the phrasing? Where's Romeo demonstrating how one note can be more powerful than 100?

Hi Joe,
Here's a very strange question. Would you ever consider making one of someone's dreams come true?
You are my favorite guitarist. I have listened and learned from you for the past 14 years. Listening to you has made me realize that while learning theory is very important, playing by feel in your mind is the only way to make your music sound like your heart. I took my (now fiance) Jen, to a show you did at the Boston Fleet Pavillion in Sept of 2002, she loves your music by the way. At the end of the show in the car on the way home she said, "Wow he looks like when he plays he really enjoys himself" Thinking about what she said immediately made me connected to the statement. Whenever I play your pieces, I immediately feel the same. It lights up my day, takes away any bad day experiences I've had and heals me. My question is, would you ever let a fan who basically worships you, relish the opportunity to become a guest solo on one of your albums. It doesnt have to be long or prominent but to be able to live a dream would complete me. Just a thought but what are your thoughts? Publicity on this would be huge and it would most definately blow this wide open. Just a thought...Thought I could get your feedback on it.

Hi all, I'm new to this forum, my name's Alex and I'm a 19-year-old music student. I play drums and Joe's music has moved me to all possible emotions during the last 6 months. The first song I heard from Joe was "Why" about 2 years ago and I loved the mixture of emotion and heavines it had. But for some reason I had never listened carefully to the rest of the CD (it was my father's), so it stayed in the CD rack for a long year. When me and my guitarist thought about building a Satch tribute, I got initiated to the other albums (he knew Satch since much longer), through Mind Storm and Up In The Sky, and I was in awe ! I quickly got out my "Extremist" CD thinking : there's gotta be something else good from that guy ! In fact, there was, even more than I expected.
Forward to today. I've bought all of his studio albums plus LISF and I never get tired of hearing the songs over and over again. Joe's magic has hit my CD player forever ! And on the LISF DVD, I came to observe another aspect of drumming, with Jeff, that I didn't not pay attention to before (with my Dream Theater/Planet X background), which is feeling the moment, smiling, that kind of "eyeblink" attitude. I'm amazed by the way Jeff plays with such transparency, passion, humor and tightness at the same time. He changed my approach of drumming.
I saw Joe live for the first time in Québec City (Joe, man, that ruled, one hour and a half was not enough!!!), and the performance blew me away ! Flying, Crushing, Satch Boogie to open, that was killer. I had already seen Dream Theater before and thought they were the best live band ever, but them playing after you, it seemed like the atmosphere went dead ! You seriously know how to perform on stage ! As does the rest of the band !
As for my tribute band (called Circles), We're doing a pre-show (a part of our complete setlist) next month, in order to get ourselves known throughout our college. Now let me get this clear : we are not trying to be Joe or pretending to have reached his level. We just want to have fun while honoring some of the best music on this planet. Here's the small set :
War,
Crushing Day,
Crystal Planet,
Love Thing,
The Extremist
Flying In A Blue Dream,
Cool #9
Always With Me, Always With You,
Satch Boogie,
Time
Encore : Circles, Summer Song
It was damn hard choosing only 12 songs, but want to keep some surprises for our following shows (Mystical, Devil's, House Full).
evbro - Good idea ! No really, there are so many songs we'd like to see, that we'd have to sacrifice some of the classics. Imagine Lights Of Heaven, Killer Bee Bop and.... what 's the name of that song again... Slick ??? played live ! Awesome (this would be).
So that's my introduction story so you could get to know me a little bit. I'm sure I'll get along fine with you guys. Happy Joe Sat listening !

ohhh, hold the crazy train...capo first fret, clamp my hand over the...17th fret because that's where my neck gets to the body of the guitar....now i insert a thickness measuring device, which i don't have..and it' s supposedly supposed to measure .3mm to .5mm to have correct neck relief..exxcellennnt...
so it goes..neck, action, intonation pickups...after that it should be a go....funny how this little book says nothing about setting the trem angle
wait a minute batman..IT DOES!! but in another little book...her we have trem spring settings and it even tells me the bottom edge of the trem should be flush with the body...excellent work batman

Joe,would you ever be into a project like Liquid Tension Experiment?
It was a great couple of CDs featuring Tony Levin,Jordan Rudess, and JPetrucci and MPortnoy, just in case you hadn't heard of it.
I for one would love to hear you do something like this. Both albums were done in amazingly short periods of time, and were heavily Jam/Improv based.
Being that you are one of my favorite improvisers,I think a project like this, with you in it would be earth shattering.
Something like-
Satriani on guitar,banjo,harmonica
Victor Wooten on Bass
Carter Beauford(Dave Mathews band) on Drums
maybe a Piano player.
Produced by Eric Caudieux
would be amazing,I think.
Hey Megaboyd
Sorry I didn't call,I fell asleep!Just woke up,lol.
