Hey JSClone1: I was actually working part time stocking at a grocery store (since I'm 20 and in college) but now that I'm getting to teach at a music store I can quit that, which is great because my wrists will be in better shape since I won't be lifting heavy objects. The session work is something I do on the side whenever I get a call to lay down some tracks, but hopefully I'll be lucky enough someday to get to do sessions almost exclusively. I'm trying to pattern my career after a local, Orlando based guitar genious, Angelo Jinotti. He's played on a lot of stuff, including the music in "friends" the TV show, and is a Carvin artist. He's a hell of a guitarist, he has both blazing technical virtuosity and the ability to morph into any sound or style. These are the things I've been trying to achieve for a long time now.

There seems to be quite a lot of problems with the tunings of double locking trems... make sure you stretch those strings after you put them on, after 2 stretches, it usually stays in tune pretty darn well. Then play them, make the strings adapt to movement. My lo pro edge is great, only minor tuning problems which can be fixed easily with 1/2 a turn on the fine tuners. Oh yea, don't forget to intonate and tighten all nuts and bolts. My strings last a long time. I use 9's and it's been a month already. I play my guitar a lot, especially with the whammy bar.

Clarky - It's got to be said that you are officially "OFF YOUR HEAD" lol. On the rhythm guitarist front although I don't have a 7-string guitar I can replicate the sound of one very well WITHOUT using a pitch shifter (hint, hint....).
Keep the theory coming......
Aarren
P. S. If you have time please feel free to email me the theory stuff you have. Your manager has my email address. Thanks,

Silmarien, where are you? I want to have a big moan about all the people around me who have such bad taste, and inflict it on me! Aarrgh, so much stuff is so sh**e! Loads of people I know say ,"Oh, I love this song so much!" when something comes on the radio, but they'll be saying the same about something totally different in 2 weeks time! And then my brother comes in and tells me to play something good on my guitar (what cheek). Oh dear, I despair.

My philosophy relating to my last post (well, it was nicked off my guitar teacher, but hey)
Pop music is the new folk music. Mozart was not the pop of his day, he was art music. His local minstrel type guy was the pop of the day. A few guys like JS, SV are doing art music. So, in 150 years time, guess who will be played on the future equivalent of Radio 3? (note to non brits, R3 is a BBC classical music station) Oh well, I'll probably get flamed to a crisp for what I've just said!
How about this then, Vote of the day, songs whining about the music industry / dumb music listeners
1: Dream Theater, Just Let Me Breathe
2: Nirvana, In Bloom

h302 - well as much logical sense as that would make, I think radio 3 will be continually dedicated to medieval through to first half twentieth century, also including ocassionally bizzare music from there onwards. I don't think Satriani can be called art music, since it's so reliant on rock and roll (for the most part, ocasionally, techno or blues). Many of the people who are living now who would previously have become composers are gonna grow up on a diet of pop/rock music and so the kind of higher class musicianship type bands, like Dream Theater, like Satch, like other genuinely talented and musical artists will grow. Think, how many people on this site Satch has influenced. Then think about how many of them will go onto influence other people. And how many of them will... etc. I don't think radio 3 will play Satch's music. I think there'll be decent radio stations, given time.
Does anyone else here love "Disappear", DT? I've just got *really* into it.
One last thing- who lives in San Francisco? Watch out on July 5.
