I think Power Cosmic 2000 Pt. 1 is one of the most beautiful Joe songs;-)
Ethn-LOL. The Mummy 1 was much better than the 2nd, but the 2nd was good because it filled in some of the blanks. Well for me anyways.
Clarky-What in the world are you talking about?
Michelle-Today it's supposed to hit a low of 17 degrees here in Atlanta!! I hate cold. The only time I like cold is when it snows, but I don't see snow anywhere:(
I know this is late but, Happy 500th MrNick! Gosh you're old;-D

Ovation-I LOVE "New Blues". It's another beautiful song by Joe. Did you notice that when you turned the beginning up really loud, you'd hear them saying stuff.
Ok I'll go along with y'all. SLICK! SLICK! SLICK! SLICK! SLICK! SLICK! SLICK! SLICK! SLICK! SLICK! SLICK! SLICK! SLICK! SLICK! SLICK! SLICK! SLICK! SLICK! SLICK!
I had a dream about Joe and Jeff. We were somewhere in North Dakota and Jeff ended up going on a hike with these kids. It was really weird. Plus I had a deja-vu dream. Then I had a dream of where we were in this restaurant and then we ended up being in this train and we slid off the tracks and jumped about 20 ft. down to another railway. I could actually feel my stomach jumping LOL. The guy that was driving assured us that the train was magnetic. Weird

Hey All! I was just on the Steve Vai Website reading through his Journal of exploits! A particular one states an incident when he was younger, of mooning his then guitar teacher Joe Satriani while driving by in a car!! Care to elaborate on that one Joe??

CRISPIN - it will be a tutorial / demo type event, quite limited spaces i would imagine.

Have a good weekend guys, catchy'all next week.

OVATION - I bet there's quite a lot of people that think Clarky needs 'plekking' - lol. I noticed on the UJR site today that he played in Okinawa in 2001, did you manage to catch that ? I know it's going back a week or so but when it comes to guitar tone, man he sounds sweet.

Has ANYBODY in here heard of Harry Cody, who was playing with Shotgun Messiah ? I've mentioned him a couple of times but nobody else seems to have heard of him.

My greetings, Joe :) I'm new here and I beg your pardon for questions that might be already asked. What music do you listen to? (If you have your spare time of course :) Who is your favorite classic composer? What do you prefer to read? Thank You.

PhryDom- Yeah, that's what i'll do... Thanks.

I dedicated my afternoon playing around with feedback effects... (I should be studying maths...) Does anyone know how to play does feedbacks on the intro of Flying in a Blue Dream?

I think I found out some things... I put distortion and reverb and a lot of other things in it, switch to the bridge pickup, volume up, and started experimenting... :)

The easyest one I found out it was by making a gentle pull off on the 3rd string around the 12th fret, it gave me a B feedback (sometimes it gives me a G... haven't figured out this one yet...). Also by using the same technique on the 1st string, 9th fret, it gave me the same B feedback, on the same 3rd string! Also by making a very gentle hammer on on the 4th string, 14th fret an bending just a tiny bit, it gave me, I think it was an E feedback. And it's really cool what you can do with some feedback and a tremolo arm! It was really fun to do, but I was just experimenting... I know nothing about feedback effects...

Is there any theory about feedback effects? Anyway, could someone please teach me how to play that intro? :)

Well... now I think i'll study... (Why do I have to know maths??!! I mean, we all die someday! And then noone will care if you know maths or not!)

Oh man,Mummy 2 was like having a catheter inserted by Shaq with Tourettes syndrome. Not even enjoyable the first time.5th element is kick ass,but The Mummy 2 makes me want to punch a small child in the throat.

I think Brendan Frasier should be kicked in the daddy button with a steel toe for that crap.

Speak of the devil,my uncle is watching it now,and my intestines are rumbling,in a futile attempt to throttle the DVD player into a thousand pieces.Hitler would have enjoyed this film.

Mr Nick --- May i know where you got the Satch and DT backing tracks from?? they sound like an excellent idea...

Clarky ---thanks for all the theory stuff you've been posting... i read your recent one on modulation but I have to say I'm a little confused. Why do you have to use dominant chords from A7 and Em to get back to A major? I think that's what you said.

everyone out there, hope you're having a great time and as always enjoy listening to satch...!!!

migupais, if you have the volume loud enough, try moving around the room while holding down one note... there are so-called "sweet spots" where the feedback likes to generate itself.... for FIABD hold down a C note on the third fret of the A string... for more available feedback harmonics also hold down a C on the 5th fret of the G string.... I think I read somewhere that Joe likes to put little tape marks on the stage floor so he can remember where they are for each venue. Good luck!

sharon, just a little more info... hacking doesn't mean taking your player apart (in case you were worried ;-) )... it's usually a weird combination of remote control presses that does it (kinda like those Easter Egg hidden extras)... and once it's done you don't need to do it again.... mine was something like "open DVD tray, press up, right, down, left, 3, 5, 7" and all of a sudden a message appeared on the screen saying "Region Free" :-) woohoo!!!! :-) btw my player is the one Tesco were selling, a Wharfedale DVD 750S... good luck :-) Dave

Jstrat57 - for Love Thing, check out some of the tabs at guitartabs.cc.... the opening chords are -

e---2--2--2--4--4--2--2------------
B---5--5--4--2--2--0--0------------
G---4--4--4--2--2--1--1------------
D---2--2--2--2--2--2--2------------
A--------------------------------------
E-------------------------------------

That happens three times then goes to something like this once-

e--0---0---0---0----0---0-----
B--0---0---0---0---0---0----
G--9---8---6--------1--------
D--9---9---7--------2---------
A- X------------------2----------
E--9-----------------0----------

Then back to the original chords, and then back again, you get the idea......

Of course this is just the rythmn, it changes again a bunch of times where you arpeggiate some chords, but this will give you an ok understanding......mick
