Well, I was bummed that the Eagles lost...although it is cool to see the Bucs in their first Super Bowl. I hope the Raiders beat them, though. :-)

Everyone has to choose a side now...hehe.

Well,It looks like John Pertucci was elected to the hall of fame of GUITAR WORLD magazine.I would like to congratulate him,as he was a huge influence on me.
DCK I love my name being a 4 letter word.Terribly fitting,donyathink?
If I could buy any guitar right now,Id like a JPM MM 7 string with the prism paint, and a piezo option.I would like to get away from signature models, but there are few 7s with piezo pickups.I really hate the pickup switch location though, right where I pick.Bleh.
I am so awesome.I think My ego is bigger than washington. And I really don't care,I love myself almost as much as I love Natalie Portman,Liv Tyler,Famke Jansen,Claire Forlani, and Julia Roberts.Ninja Gaiden also rocks as much as me,but thats because Ninjas are sweet.

JS Clone 1: Your statement on: "You either use whammy huge or nothing. If you use whammy only a little bit, floating bridge can only hurt you. Multi string bending is made very difficult, sustain is lost, setup time is tripled and strings break more often." I couldn't agree with you more!!!! I almost bought that JEM90HAM which would have been a HUGE mistake!! I'm trying to get a PGM300 with a Fixed Edge, if not, I will fill the cavity and do it myself, lol!! It's nice to have a floating trem for those VAIolent moment's, but in the end, it isn't worth the trouble unless you are rich enough to have Mike Manning as a guitar tech., lol :-)

michelle: That was too funny, lol, talk about instant pain to an already painful tattoo sore!! LOL, I'm sure he wasn't thinking about who won!!....BTW, I got my gold toof ready.... ;-)

dandaman: Beautiful story bro'!! And Welcome :-)

Ethn: That's kuul new's about John!! He better not call it quit's now though!! lol....

Later all, /\/\ike

<b> Does anyone remember a tune called "Nameless"? I found it on the internet a few years ago. Supposedly, it was a song that Joe put on a cd for a guitar magazine.

It's an awesome song, and I can't find it on kazaa or limewire. If anyone can email it to me, I'd be very grateful. I have the backing track to the song already (without the guitar melody). I will gladly email this to anyone that wants it!

Thanks!

Sorry about the double post. On the fixed bridge thing, I couldn't agree more. Floating bridges and I simply don't get along. I tend to play a bit too sloppy/heavy and take pretty good bites at the strings with my pick. On a floater, this causes a real mushy feel that i simply can't stand. Not for heavy rhythm anyway. I should work more on a lighter touch but I should do a lot of things. Right now I think I should go to bed. Goodnight all.

Edit: Can't spell late at night either

Hey hey hey! Mister Satriani! You are, without a doubt, the greatest guitarist this world has ever known and the biggest inspiration in my life. You're an avatar man, here to remind people of why we all fell in love with rock 'n' roll in the first place! Keep it up! I wanted to know if you were planning on doing any concerts out in California, perhaps down in San Diego. It's always been a dream of mine to see you jammin' live. Keep us informed yeah? Thanks again Joe! You'll always be #1 in my book!

Calling ALL Ibanez Guitarists!! Have any of you seen the new 2003 line of guitars from Iby? Almost all of the guitars have new trems! They are called the Edge Pro I & Edge Pro II. These 2 trems can be found on RGs and some signature models. Edge pro I replaces most expensive guitars while the edge pro II replaces TRS trems. Both trems have a new string loading system where you no longer have to cut off the ball end of a new string. S series will also have a new trem: Zero Resistance. This trem has a pivot made with ball bearings for superb trem effects! It also has a spring system that has a similar function to a trem setter. Some Ibanez guitars are no longer in production while others have thier serial numbers changed. 2003 is another big year for Ibanez.

Narface: Great new's there dude!! Thank's for the info....

I read about the NAMM show....JOE went on after VAI (or vice-versa) and then PG did his thing....I heard it was great!! That must be great to be able to go to that, and see these guy's walking around and greeting!! :-)....I also read that EVH showed up late at the Peavy booth (like 2hrs.!!) and then wanted to sign a renewal contract on the spot before he came down to the booth!!......It's amazing what this man, a legend, does these days.... :-(

BTW, here he is at the show: EVH

lgu89 - what am I talking about????? I've no idea... it's alright for you ... Clarky is a complete mental case.... and I have to live with him.....

tyrantduke - go through the theory posse stuff nice and slowly... take your time.. the best why to learn is in small managable bites.. it's easier to be thorough that way.... and let me know when things get tricky....
I'm glad you appear to be getting benefit from it all so far...
quantum - the current theory posse theme is modulation using the dominant seven chord... [there are many other ways to modulate but this is the method that we are currently looking at]..... You ask - "Why do you have to use dominant chords from A7 and Em to get back to A major?" - this question doesn't make sense..... but I think I understand what you're trying to ask...

There is a chord change that is known as a 'perfect cadence'. This is a move from chord V to chord I. This is the musical equivalent to a full stop. It is used to end a piece of music and to establish a new key. In a major key chord V is major and chord V7 is a dominant seven. In an minor key chord V is minor and V7 is a minor seven. For a perfect cadence to work chord V has to be major or V7 has to be a dominant seven. In a minor key during a perfect cadence, chord V is modified into a major chord [and chord V7 is modified into a dominant seven chord].

To get from the key of A to Em a perfect cadence must occur in the key of Em.... this means that V7 in Em during a perfect cadence is B7.... so the bridge section in the key of A works towards landing on a B7 chord to create this cadence which acts as a springboard into the key of Em. To get back, we need to create a perfect cadence in the key of A. Chord V7 of A is E7...

I hope this helps....

smithers - you should not wait for your strings to 'bed in'... you should stretch them in before you tighten the locking nut.
If you dont know how to do this then shout...
this 'clicking' sound could be a few things: check that the allen bolts a the back of the neck for the locking nut a tight. Check that the strings a in the bridge saddle virtically and not slanted. Check that the edges of the bridge base palte are correctly in the 'V' grooves on the bridge posts. Check that the springs are correctly mounted.
atrantic - I love you so much I could shit - is actually the name of a smootchie little number I wrote years ago .. no lie dude... lol

tyrantduke - the only problem with your chord voicings is that the note 'B' is not always the lowest pitch. Having for example F# in the bass throughs the chord into inversion....

You missed the easiest fingerings: starting from the 1st string: 9, 7, 7, 9, 9, 7: which is a Bm barre chord on the 7th fret and the 9th is added with your little finger on the 9th fret of the 1st srting.
and my favourite: 7, 7, 7, 11, 9, 7 - very moody

Another little trick [which is allowed] is to drop the 3rd.... If the music is in the key of Bm and you play B5 add 9, then the minor 3rd is 'implied' by the tonality of the music. In isolation [just playing the chord on your guitar without accompanying music and listening to it] this is obviously not Bm add 9... but in a live situation with a band you'll find that in some cases this will be acceptable..... [2, 2, 4, 4, 2, X]

rough dog - no charge... lol
tyrant - that little chord progression I used for the example [I love you so much] took around an hour to write.... the chord progression took a few minutes.. most of the time was spent messing with voicings and inversions so that the chords 'flow' into each other.....
mowlie - so do you drop tune the guitar to B or C# with B on the 6th.....

When I'm in a position to put a band together for this I'll shout and you'd be welcome to try out for the roll....

ovation - if you ever see me live and I'm 10 minutes late on stage... it's most likely 'cos I'm getting funky with an RG.... wow 10 mins.. I could do it 6 or 7 times... lol
yayo - happy b'day ... bro... have a good 'un...

Did anyone actually try to play the chord progression to "I Love You So Much I Could Shit"??????

Also, I think I'll re-write it as an instrumental and drop it on the next album.... it would be a nice touch...

satch i have waited a long time for the ability to send you a message or have you read my thoughts. I am a fan of course my favorite composition is the extremist. I choose this one because it is so free flowing and its a great driving album. I have a few of the G3 collection tapes with Steve Vai Eric Johnson that sort of thing I was wondering if you guys are gonna get michael schenker or yngwie malmsteem to participate and if not who are some of the new selections I also wanted to know where i can obtain some information on how i can shred I play but nowhere as well as you and i am hoping one day to shred it up. I want to learn the technique for sweep picking and how to use the tremolo in a decent fashion by the way i want to know where i can buy a chrome js ibanez with dimarzio pickups in it he he

Happy 100, dragonchild and anibur.

New guitar thingy: I'd sort of fancy a Tele, but since my present guitar has a fixed bridge, I think if I got another one it would be nice to have one with a whammy bar, maybe an iby jem, but then again, people seem to like mavericks at the moment. Oh well, why am I thinking of this? I'm far to skint to buy anything decent. I never quite recovered from my last purchase!

MR NICK, I'm not on MSN.

Wow, I didn't know about Joe's sister. They must be about the most arty family around!
