Plexihead Joe uses a 6100LM head, not the combo(6101). It has 6550 tubes in it. I feel that they are a good replacement for EL34's if you want a little tighter, punchier sound with more headroom for power section tone. The "electronic" difference is that they are more the "military grade" tube, as is the 5881's of the 6L6 world. Hope this helps.

Hi Joe, I just wanted to let you know that I saw your show in Reno at the Hilton and enjoyed it. Your music elevates me to a higher level. I think this to be the reason for art and music. Thanks for the boost in evolution.

Hi Joe, ...this is Alan from Peru, I wrote last Jan 1st asking if you could come to Lima doing a Show. After seeing that you are coming to Santiago in Chile and Buenos Aires in Argentina, could you consider visiting Lima Peru for a Concert this time ?.

As I told, I was at the Filllmore in Jan 31( first row ) but the web page does not show concert Pictures of that day. Could you make magic and make them appear ?

Thanks a lot ... Alan

mowlie_2000 - Eric Johnson was going to release a DvD of Ah Via Musicom a little while ago, but he cancelled it at the last minute, he said it wasn't a good product... he's got a few instructional videos but the only live thing on DvD at the moment I think is just the G3 thing he did with Joe and Steve.... he did a show on Austin City limits where he played Cliffs of Dover back in 90 I think... you might be able to find some one who has it, but it'll be hard....

Can anyone tell me about the Korg PXR4 and the Tascam Pocketstudio 5? I'd like to know if it is a good investment for recording,. Thanks..... mick

Ethn Hayabusa - More head to head battles would be cool.

mowlie 2000 - EJ doesn't have a live DVD (not counting the stuff on the G3 DVD).
dragonchild - Go for The Extremist.
ovation1 - Have you bought GHS 3 yet? ;-)
crispin - Joe's chrome guitars are made out of wood. Ibanez made the JS10th guitars out of a different material so the chrome would stay attached. Also, the G3 thing you saw on Ebay is probably a bootleg.

Nick - Summer Song is Mixolydian.. I haven't played along with it for years so I can't remember the actual key. If I recall correctly, the guitar is detuned by a half step too... so it may actually be in Ab Mix in concert pitch [A Mix on the detuned guitar]... If I'm wrong then I'm mistaking it with War [I know that one or both of those are tuned down]. Also, the modulation is minor... so if the track is scored in A [with the 7th notes shown as natural accidentals - which is more logical than showing the center key of D for A Mix] then the modulation is in Am [key sig is C]... The Bb part... well I don't know where that comes from... to be honest, I'd need to dig out the CD and have a good listen so all of this information above has been dragged out of my decaying mental archive...

ovation - Angra is not something I've heard of.... I'll snoop around in the local stores to see if I can find something - thanx for the tip....

A funny thing... I recall many years ago sitting in the drafty halls of the University of London... analysing and debating over 200 orchestral works from 1600 to 1950.. the great masters:- Bach, Handel, Hydn, Mozart, Schubert, Schumann, Beethoven, Wagner, Tchiakovski, Borodin and the list goes on... sight singing Bach chorals with the other students, studying the impacts of instrument developments upon orchestration, making notes all over the score of Schuberts unfinished Symphony in Bm [awesome tune] detailing where the various components that comprise Sonata form occur... etc...
that being the case... what is the most played CD in my car?????????????????

Iowa - Slipknot

I think that says something........

Choco - the music industry crying out for good builders
Yoda - I spoke to the luthier a few weeks ago... I'm told end of Feb.... if they screw up this time the hampster gets it....

Dragonchild, Joe's self titled is my favorite. It's bluesy - as opposed to The Extremist, which will rock your face off. Both fantastic cd's IMO. It depends on what your in the mood for. Check out the songs on each cd and see which ones you know and like better. NOTE would be my third choice.

Whiteghost, dude, it's an honor to get shined on by the Chrome Boy! If you don't like it, ya gotta duck & roll brutha!

the inflatable boy is real pissed off.. he goes to his inflatable school and take a knife.. his goes up to his inflatable teacher and stabs her... he runs out of school... just before he leaves he stabs the school... he runs home deeply upset and stabs himself... a day later he wakes up in hospital and in the bed next to him is his teacher... his teacher says... "son, I'm really dissappointed in you, not only have you let me down, and let the school down but you've let yourself down too".....

philaka - the two necks are tuned differently, on the higher neck, all the strings are tuned to E and the lower is standard 6-string tuning (EADGBE)

chocoholic - well, no, just taking music at uni for now! hey if it all goes wrong i can always become an accountant.

master yoda - cool. maybe if i compose something with tricky guitar parts i can get you to come and record it for me, hehe.

happy birthday gmonster (can't remember your proper name)

clarky - summer song's not detuned, it's normal :) A mixolydian it is. and by the way may i note that you're crazy!

About the classical/pop thing, I know what you mean. One thing about music these days is that it's thoroughly easy to get into (most of it) and enjoyable (well, some of it). There are of course some great pieces which find their way into my cd player occasionally, such as stravinsky's ballets, a bit of saint-saens and some chopin nocturnes for that mood, but dream theater and satch are still played so much more.

btw do you know much about Vaughan Williams' 5th Symphony (in D). The very opening of the first movement. What mode would you call that? I'd call it C lydian straight away cause it sounds like a flying in a blue dreamish double appogiatura (d and f# resolving downwards to notes in C major (possibly c and g though, rather than c and e - C is in the bass). My teacher is pretty convinced it's D mixolydian but it sounded to me really like C lydian. I know they share 7 out of 7 notes but it feels like lydian to me. If you have it or can listen to it, could you tell me your views on the matter, cause I'm sure i'm right, hehe.

fretkiller - yeah most of us play guitar, we have some strict bassists here like megaboyd and stu clone, i play about as much bass as guitar. There are tonnes of iuma sites belong ing to cvarious people- stay tuned, and i'm sure some will post links to their sites. peterm.iuma.com is probably my favourite.
