Ok guys, now I need some advice again...... I'm going to buy another of Joe's albums, but I can't decide which one. I choose between Joe Satriani, NOTE and The Extremist. I know they are all different from each other, but in what way? They all have (famous) awesome songs that I want to hear, but I can only afford to buy one album..... anybody wanna help? I'd appreciate it!!!!!!!!!

Hello Joe Satriani, (Ultimate Guitar God)
First things first, "JOE, DO SINGAPORE !!!!!!!!"
I got an announcement that you've lined up a couple of guitar clinics in China, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Bangkok and maybe, Australia on a later run.
"Could you please consider coming to SINGAPORE?".
I can safely speak out for guitar fans in Singapore because we have never seen you and the guitar movement is very strong. I know that it will be fantastic and lots of fan will be eager to see you play even in a clinic.
By the way, I hope that you'll win the Grammy for your nominations.
Take care.
"Cheers!".
With regards,
Mel / MetalMel@Pacific.Net.Sg /

yo crispin, yes i did learn cliffs of dover from guitarist, i already knew most of it, but the backing track really helped alot, im still abit sketchy on some parts, but hey EJ is a genious, and it's a f***ing hard song, but yeah great transcription, those guy from guitarist mag, are real good,
yo dragonchild, all i can say is, you should have all joe's albums already, but if i had to say wich one i think you should buy, i'd say the extreamist, because of friends, lol, but joe satriani is a great album to, ohhh you got yourself a tough decision there boy, save an extra few bob, and buy them both

dragonchild i am going to agree with mr nick. The extremist is the one to get. if you are looking for a bluesy album then joe satriani is the one to get but for a more rock one then the extremist is the one to get.
It also has summer song so the descicion should have been easy.

anyone with more theory knowlegde and know summer song better than me (clarky and Joe)...what key is it in? the tab book i have, i think its wrong. it says the key is Amaj, but i think its A mixolydian. and wheres the key change in it? and what key does it change to? the book says Bb maj, but Amaj to Bb maj in the book..surely(goig back to one of Clarky's lesons), that shouldn't sound too good. can anyone help?

dragonchild - dude... you need to find a better library... In my local one they have some nice young part timers during the evenings and weekends..... college / university girlies making a little extra cash to fund their weekend exploits.... shwing!!!!
McDave - dude I know the fealing... failing the entrance exam for a nut-house is depressing..... you just have to knuckle down and study then you may pass next time around.... good luck bro... # : )
I recall some talk about Symphony X a while back [can't remember who tho - not important anyway]... so out of curiousity I got The Odyssey.. the limited edition version with the bonus track....
On this CD I hear
large amounts of Dream Theatre,
Malmsteen [Trilogy era - especially in the vocals, composition and some of the guitar work],
Tony McAlpine style keyboard playing [when he played keys for Vinnie Moore],
a hint of ELP orchestral style in places,
the orchestral parts sound very very synthetic [because they are] in places... I'd have thought that better sample playback modules would have been used by a band of this ilk... also the parts should be writen not to expose this.. you can only write 'true' orchestral parts when you have a real orchestra to do it with... those of us that have to emulate that sound have to make the trade off between "what you want the ochestra to do" against "does it still sound realistic"...
the compositions contain a few modulations that sounded a bit dodgey here and there... as if it was modulation to sound clever and not because the melody / riff was crying out for it....
The overall mix contains a little too much 'high-mid' eq [especially the vocals and guitars] for my taste...
The other side of the coin is:
these guys are serious serious players...
the riffs are "as tight as a baby's ass"
some of the solos are dead clever and imaculately executed... big respect to the axeman....
the riffs are big and heavey - just like the doctor ordered...
the songs have heaps of dynamic variation - great if you're a progger - which I am....
Overall - I really enjoy their music - the CD is now in the car, played often and very loud.... I need to get another CD of them... love it.....

dragonchild: Choosing btw. "Joe Satriani, NOTE and The Extremist."....We'll you'd be better off getting The Extremest first....It is the most "recognizable" JOE....The self titled is great also, but is strictly Blues, and "Cool No.9" is heard the most from that one....NOTE is also great, for me, perhaps the best!! Experimental JOE all the way....It is very unique, and you hear where JOE came from....Plus RUBINA is on there!!
Toss up....
WEBDUDDER!! Thank's for uploading that little scoop from KRON!! I finally found it!! Was looking everywhere....Those newscaster's are also kuul!! They knew lot's of info about JOE!!!! Awesome footage, and I like Starry Night even better without the drums!!!!!!!!!!! (Sorry Jeff ;-) ) It's great to see JOE get the recognition he deserves, and I still can't believe how much of a talented family he has!!!!
Nite all, /\/\ike
Quick Edit!! Clarky my Grandmaster friend.... Have you heard of the brilliant Brasil Metal Band called "ANGRA"!?!? They rock!!!! Me and a friend jammed to their new one....Dammit, I can't remember the name....But there is a ghost-like figure on the cover....It rocks hard!! The drummer and axemen brilliantly execute their part's....And the singer.....A MUST check out, if you don't know already!!!!!
