Hey Joe and friends. I am really interested in exploring songs of Joes Like "Clouds Race Across The Sky" and "Until We Say Goodbye" and "Moroccon Sunset". Joe can you recommend other music that has these type of Latin rythms. Where were you exposed to this. I wouldn`t know where to start.

Berkeley Boy - i think you should sell them, just not for alot of money, then that would be shallow. i suggest that if you want to know how much they are worth, put one copy on ebay and see what happens. i don't think joe would mind, he has more important things to worry about. well, if he considers it an illegal bootleg, then your screwed. but in the meantime, send me a copy. - the extremist

Hey Matt...
I know what you mean when you say that your style of playing is not complicated, I personally think it's straight forward & to the point... The chording in alot of your tunes are the most difficult part of your song... The soloing comes easy after the Rhythmic message has been laid out, all it needs is a voice, and there you have it... David Gilmour once said that before he came up with some type of lead is that he'd listen to the Rhythm before adding any lead, and then he started singing melodies out loud and figured out where he could go with some of his lead guitar work...
I personally love those spacey chords as well, have you thought of what alternate tunings might do to enhance your chording arrangements? and no.... I don't mean Drop-D, take for example some of Jimmy Page's alternate tunings... pick-up a Led Zepplin tab book and flip through some of his more difficult tunes... in alot of cases his songs with alternate tunings are masterpieces... thanks Rich... bad spelling error..

OCP - Well, entering is a good idea. You live far away though. Also you need to send them like $45 and a demo tape with like 4 or 5 songs that you play on it. I think they do look for some technical aspects. Basically really good guitar playing judged by other guitar players.
Plum Loco - OH NO! "JIMI PAGE" !!!!! NO!!! ---JIMMY PAGE!

Plum Loco or whoever else knows...... what does "Loco" mean? I've seen it written down in my Best of Joe Satriani tab book and I have no clue what it is!

Matt King --- great stuff!!! i'm so envious of you! hahahaha...
yeah some comments on the song:
as the other guys here have mentioned, I feel there's a bit too much grit on the lead tone. I personally would have gone for a smoother sound. but this is just a demo right?
also, it seems like the ending is a bit abrupt to me. But i'm sure you would do it different when playing live.
Berkeley boy --- hell yeah!!! please scan those lessons and spread them around!! sorry, i'm being so selfish here. It would be cool to see what it is!
RDG --- thanks for inviting me to see your show at the 4th &B. great show!!!
plum loco --- jimmy page's acoustic stuff is really awesome. alternate tunings? for those who haven't, check out 'rain song' by led zeppelin. you'll be amazed.

JSclone: I looked at the entry requirements, they ssid they wanted 3 songs of varying styles and $25 to submit. I was playing around today, and complicated sweep picking(more than the 3 string sweeps on the high strings I was doing before) just clicked. It's surprisingly simple to do once the light switch flips! Now I can pretty much do whatever I want, I just have to build up a reptoir of sweeps.

OCP - Record some clips of some licks that you play and send them over and I can do the same for you. Mine are boring though. I think when Paul Gilbert gave me the gift of accurate alternate picking, I lost everything else with it. My left hand patterns are all garbage. Patterns... eugh, I can't get into anything that sounds remotely good.
Joe - New song ideas for a new album? Style will vary from SBM? SBM and EOC are just those type of albums that are like nothing else in a good way, but you only really want one of them. Heck, EOC's my fave Joe album, next to NOTE.

Thanks again everyone for all of the most appreciated feedback! :) I do agree with everyone on the lead tone..it's just TOO thick for the song. I tried to smooth it out some, but it was direct and all :-\ On a TRUE albume cut it will definitly not be as grainy and crunchy...
Mick..thank you VERY much man...as far as an album. I'm trying to get some help as far as that goes right now, if I can get the right people behind me with a tiny push, it can happen...I'm sure this will be determined very soon...
The question I have for everyone is this -- I have been dubbed a "satch clone" before and all of this other stuff. But, does this really matter? I mean...my influence(s) are strong in my music, that is for sure...but are the songs still somewhat good? Are they listenable? I just want to know if you guys would back me up in having a career in music and all even though I do soun somewhat like joe...would it be worth me making a CD? Do you think people would not buy it JUST because I sound a little like joe?

matt king i think you should release a cd, you have some good material, some people will buy it just because it does sound like satch(think of all the bands that have sounded like nirvana, creed, backstreetboys, not that you are like the back streetboys) , it just means you will already have a target audience for your first release,, you can grow and expand your sound from there, go with what you know, Good Luck man,
invigor a js1000bp is headed to your neck of the woods, so keep buggin em

JSclone1: if I get time to record some stuff I'll send it your way. I was thinking though, wouldn't it be cool if some of us posted bed tracks with bass and drums and rythm, so the other T2J folks could improv over and post. btw, I watched the Petrucci rock discipline video today, and I was surprized to see that when John picks fast, he picks from his elbow like Satch, Vai, and others, it's just more refined.
TO all: I think any of the T2J instrumentalists should put together a compilation cd of our original music, kind of like the Merry Xmas cd's. We could probably sell it if the quality is good enough.

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone. I'll be spending it alone...oh well.
The song of the day is either Love Thing by Joe Satriani or Love Stinks by the J. Geils Band, depending on your point of view. ;-)

OVATION - Dude it sounds like you ought to adopt some of the native traditions to me.
CRISPIN - I used to get this crap all the time off our drummer, if your singer can't be bothered to check out the availability of the band members before he books gigs then he's only got himself to blame for looking like a twat when he has to cancel, go to the gig.
PHRYDOM - Perhaps i should have clarified, the 'commercial' originator of multi-track recording 'in the uk' - lol. Your sanity might have gone but it's good to see that you still have your pedanticism ;-) Ya northern monkey ! :-0
AUSTIN - Nice one on Valentine's Day- lol. I fall into category 3, not alone but not taken in by commercial clap trap, yeah call me a cynic, but it's like going out with your boss at Xmas for a drink. Why be a hypocrite for one day a year, or in the case of Valentine's, if you can't love the one your with all the time, why fudge it for a day ? Luckily my wife holds the same view as me - so no confectioner, florist or cuddly bear manufacturer is going to be making a mint out of us ;-)

Hi eberyone and Joe
Ive been trying to do some recording but im having troubles. I use a marshall head and cab with this emulated DI thing - when I plug a lead from this to my line in on my pc i get nothing - should I have something else in between?
I can get a sound if i plug it into the microphone port but I then get this annoying buzz.
Anyone got any good suggestions? I would bypass my amp and just go in via my pedals but i would lossed some of my nice amp tone then?
Cheers
