I never said I disliked anything (except prima donnas, by which I mean show-offs, not the original meaning of the word). What I do like includes Joe Satriani. You may have heard of him, I don't know.

Artanis I

1. Are you a joke? 2. There is a difference between solo performers such as Joe Satriani and groups with people always trying to stick their neck out. Joe is Joe. He represents himself, so he can do whatever music he wants. Bands should represent the band's best interests, and not be used for individual accolades.

PhryDom

I'll tell everyone what they like, because I'm the person that chooses what they like. I have absolute power of everyone's mind and body. See, I just made you roll your eyes. And now I'm putting thoughts into your mind about The Goodies. You're singing "goody goody yum yum" aren't you?

I rest my case. A brief one at that. A brief case.

my drummer and i both got into Dream Theater at the same time, and put together we've got everything from FII onwards, plus Images... I think that's right anyway. He happened to have the CD set which has that solo, so i swapped that for 6DOIT (temporarily) so i could see the video. Amazing.

phrydom - yeah i have mine, even though my birthday's tomorrow, I've been allowed it early. Used it for a practice yesterday, playing bass, gave me a nice bit of variety. But it's a really great unit (particularly for the price) for e. guitar. That midi controller is on my wishlist for the future, as is a bass v-amp.

I took the simpson's test - I'm Lisa....

Happy birthday eve guitarcake......

ARTIFICE's name... it kinda reminds me of someone elses.... can't think who....

ARTIFICE: It was a question, not a challenge. I've understood what you've been saying. I'm just curious which bands you think present themselves well without showing off. I'm not saying a song or band has to do solos to be any good. Only that I don't think a guitar solo has to be obtrusive or showy. I beleive they can be used to show a band as a unit. Especially when they kick off a full band jam.

Happy birthday plum loco and jelly man.

Artifice You said that if you want to do solos go to virtuoso music or jazz. Don't you think there can be such a thing as a rock virtuoso? Is rock somehow inferior to other sorts of music?

This is really annoying; Whenever I go anywhere, I take the radiohead album I don't want to listen to. If I've brought along The Bends, I'll want to listen to OK Computer, and vice versa. Sometimes, of course, I'll just decide I want to listen to Amnesiac, Pablo Honey or one of their other albums.

Come on guys, post some more on the COE forum, I'm getting bored seeing my name as the last post.

DT LSFNY You know how I said I thought that show was really good, well reading Mike Portnoy's FAQs, he actually tried to get Kevin Moore on board for that show, to do Space Dye Vest and a 6 piece Learning to Live. Wow, I'm practically jacking off thinking how good that show would then have been. Sadly, though, Kevin decided against. Maybe with OSI having happened, he'll do it sometime in the future.

tawn...email for what??

greg m..me..or someone else posted that simpsons thing ages ago.

clarky...from my recording of the song, and when i play either inmy room thru the amp, or thru the computer, i can hear my picking, which i dont want to hear. i want my song to sound as professional as possible.

phrydom...HTH?? and a plugin??

greg m..in some ways, rock music is inferior to other types of music. in terms of musicality, blues and jazz would beat rock.

Welll it's been ages since my last post due to me composing, recording, practicing, auditioning, and (rather bizarrely) filiming a pop video with new girl-band "Untouched" as their guitar player. Let's see if it goes anywhere - they have interest from EMI... (fingers crossed)

Trutina - My track is pretty much finished - I'm hoping to have it all done by the end of next week. Where do I send it and in what format?

Clarky - No probs, dude. I'll let you know as soon as I have a free weekend.

Nick - You got mail...

Another audition on Monday. Hope it goes well - this would be a really cool gig...

Neil
