Sharif / Matt - Well some jam ongs may be cool for some people but i'm really not digging them. I can appreciate a melody line and arrangement, as Matt said, much more. It tells more of a story and the licks that are played for the song are more for the song and less of just playing licks 'in key'.

Ethn - I heard Kryptica when I was voting for the Jemfest DVD submissions. Personally, I think the melodic/shred thing has been done and this song didn't excite me. If there's a song worth checking out, let me know.

FallenAngel - Joe's music is powerful eh? If you're going to buy ALL of Joe's cds (which is highly recommended), you very most likely find them all in one store.

WHOEVER ASKED ABOUT NEW MATERIAL FROM MATT,
I can say that Matt's been working on some awesome stuff... we're hoping to get some more tracks done over the internet like the last one.
I've also been working on this goofy one... the more I play it, the more it sounds like a Cajun Funk!!! Think Jaco meets alligators, craw dads, and shrimp... : )

I'm really excited to see what else comes out of my head to finish it....

Brymstone nice stuff... the effects (phaser methinks) kinda distracted me...
Nick, Getting better each time... do you have music or tab for the song or are you going by ear? Suggestions... watch your bends and your tuning... also, you're trying to play some of those figures too fast for how much you can do with it right now. Always... is at about 130-140 bpm, right? take out a metronome and slow down to 110... then 100... then 90... then 70 (if you slow it down too much right away, it's hard to remember how it's supposed to sound). Work with it like that, and record a take at 80-90 bpm. See how it sounds like that, check if your bends are clearer how your tone is for each individual note...

stu clone..i have the tab for always in the best of satch tab book. and the surfing with the alien album. i played always to my guitar teacher and he's helping me with the scales, and said to play some pentatonic scales over some bits, told me how to work out what pentatonics go over what chords/scale. always is 140bpm (or thereabouts)...its also in 3/4 which makes it trickier. i'm working on them runs so they actually sound clean and in time. i have put onto a cd the backing at various speeds, i can find the places where the improvisations take place, and practise over them bits. i can get the main melody just about right (i think)

also not sure about one note. its in Bmaj (the start anyway)...but when i play the first improvisation, i play a high A#, but it sounds wrong, perhaps my guitar is not tuned propely. i need a decent tuner for my room (computer not in my room), and the zoom gfz707 built in tuner i have is rubbish.

thats was a long post...now rest your weary head and sleep for a while..lol

guitarcake Joe's chromeboy is different to the js10chromers, I think. I believe that chromeboy is made of wood, whereas the chromed ones iby sold are made of lucite (that clear plastic thing they use for the crystal planet guitars) as the chrome sticks to it better, or something like that.

stu clone I have a very limited knowledge of Steve Morse. The only stuff I have with him on is 2 or 3 tracks from a best of Deep Purple cd I have. I'd like to get into the dregs sometime, money and listening time permitting.

Matt What is the picture of in the background of the coe homepage? Ooh, and I see I'm now a "frequent flier". What a high honour!

"JOE-I saw a quote you gave in this months guitar techniques:

'Starry night is a prayer and a question to God. I was trying to put into music how I was thanking God for the miricle of life, but also asking for an explanation for some of the horrors and tragedies we all experience. The melody I recorded at my home studio two days after the September 11th terrorist attacks on the U.S, one take and a newly broken heart...' "

I have some songs I downloaded, in which you can recognize Joe's playing style and in one song Gillan mentions Joe's name. They are all songs from a concert in Japan (I think). Before cdnow merged with amazon, Joe's name was noticed in this record. So I'm pretty sure it's gotta be from this one.
