Nick Damn, I'm in a boat on the Broads on Easter Sunday - no telly for me.

The question I have to ask myself is, will 5 more weeks of maths lessons prepare me to take an A level in the stuff?

Crispin Oh well, How about just when I've finished my exams at the end of June, I learn a Vai song by then, and email it to him (I'll find out his adress) and he can dwell on it and look at his own miserable playing. With those people, it helps me to think of playing the crap out of them one day with a rubbish, and see what they feel like then with their prs or whatever.

One story I like is of a tramp playing violin on the street, and he wasn't making any money, and then this other guy comes up to him, asks to borrow his violin, and starts playing for him. More and more people gather around, because this new guy is really good, and they all start putting money in the tramp's hat. THe other guy finishes playing, gives the tramp his violin back, and walks off. Only then do the people realise the violinist's striking resemblance to Paganini..............

MR NICK - You might only have 5 weeks of school left but now's the time that the lessons get a lot tougher - lol

greg m..i dont think any amount of time will be enough to take maths...i dont do maths btw...and about the simpsons...record it...or find it on kazaa afterwards or something...

clarky..since you have iuma..how do you put songs on the featured bit and not in the album bits??

Yoda - If I can get there I will....

Greg - I have the same fealing about Crimson... when they're bad they are rally bad... when they are good they are awesome... David Cross - who I play for - was on Larks Tongues, Red and Starless... Starless is a great album.

The pic of the Strat has the Seymours on it... One Hotrail Humbucker [at the bridge] and two singles.

Nick - Talk to me on AIM about your track... I'll see what I can do... can't promise too much though... time is my biggest problem right now... as it is I suspect thet my track will be the one holding up the t2j cd....

It sounds to me that your backing track - either drums only, drums and bass or drums, bass and keys needs to be done from scratch... your rhythm guitars then get recorded over the top...

I program every drum beat and every individual note via the mouse... time consuming stuff - a good drum program to a 4 minute song is many hours of work... an entire backing track takes days... for my own music it can take a month or more..

Nick - go into your IUMA site... on the left is a menu.. the very bottom option is 'featured songs'... click that option.. when the page refreshes click 'next'.. you see 10 drop boxes.. click the box and select a song..... the number by each box shows you the order that they are listed..
500 to me........

TYRANT DUKE - Theory posse is over at www.courseofevolution.com in the forum section (sorry i'm too computer illiterate to post a link). Clarky has posted all his lesson info there in subject blocks to give people a chance to work through and post specific questions to specific subjects. I believe that he will still post on T2J as well, but that is your quickest access for now. Don't forget to check out Matt and the boys while you're there. HTH.

CLARKY - Congrats on the 500 !

Mike, it worked! The sun is out today :) LOL!!! Thanks for that extra post. lol!

R6R, Clarke was fantastic! Two of the songs he played were School Days and Song to John. The young guy on the violin (fresh out of school) was amazing. They went note for note, just like on the c.d.'s. lol! Clarke was putting some crazy stank on the stand up bass. He was using the top of his fingers like you would see a flamenco player do on both basses. It was mind blowing to say the least. Killer show!

On another note, this was pretty cool over the weekend... http://www.berksjazzfest.com/jazzfestnews/archive.02_03/3.26.03.htm

Hi all. I've just came back from México City and something awful happened to me there (it was my only fault), Joe signed auographs and I managed to get a picture of him signing one album of mine and me on the picture, I also took pictures of the outside of the theatre he playes and pics of the beautiful Mexico city, and yesterday I left my camera on a taxi when I was coming to my hometown. I still feel so sad, but anyway, I have my album signed and saw an amazing show.

Saludos amigos

clarky...i've recorded the guitars first, because the keyboard is not in this country, so, i have to give him the backing so he knows how the song goes..i know how the song goes, cos i wrote it, but i cant play keys, or drums, or bass..so i record the guitars..show the keys and bass what the song goes like i tell them what they should do and so it goes like that. its my first song i've recorded as well... i haven't got AIM, i have msn.

and happy 500 :)

adrianorb..tough luck about your camera..you could always phone up the taxi company and ask to see if the taxi driver handed it in as lost property or something...and well done on meeting Joe and getting an album signed :)

crispin ROFLMAO That thing about Diembag busking is the funniest thing I've heard all week. All month...............hmm...............maybe all month. A new form of music has emerged - "shred busking".

nick Kazaa? That makes me laugh in a grim sort of way as well. Today, downloading something at around lunchtime, the computer said it was downloading at 761 bytes per second. Ithis is a 56k modem, too.

clarky Happy 500. Buy something alcoholic on me (just don't remember I said it was on me (you may be able to do this by getting quite a lot of alcoholic stuff)). Red is an album I've always sort of intended to get, but I've just now bought OSI (£13! What a rip off!) so I doubt I'll be buying any cds for a while.

EDIT - My modem is now downloading from the same site at 455 bytes per second. This must be because I am downloading songs off the radiohead album coming out in June. Everyone must have got word of this.
