962 - Stu Hamm's Outbound is awesome. Do you have any favorite tracks yet?
PhryDom - Those neighbors sound annoying. Well, if they force you to move, at least you'll have a bunch of dogs that can leave presents on their front lawn. ;-)
Seriously, now... I've moved 6 or 7 times in my life. It's a pain...I know how it feels.
smithers - You should still go see Deep Purple. They still sound great, even without Jon Lord.
And to answer your other question, the end-of-show bow is a way of saying "thanks" to the crowd.
death cube K - I think your neighbor is on to something...your cats are bothering me as well. :-)
Sara2003 - Joe's first guitar was a white Hagstrom. I'm not sure if the brand is spelled correctly, but I know I'm close.
Jayanth - Joe isn't currently giving guitar lessons.
Embarrassing song of the day: Def Leppard - Pour Some Sugar On Me
I'm listening to it now...flames are welcomed.
...Austin...

"decidingly unfunky" oh dear.
Ethn we have some work to do. 1.Firstly, what is the state of your facial hair? You need some sort of sideburnage. Personally I am very "eccentric" in my whisker style, but plain old sideburns down to (at least) the bottom of the earhole adds a little "funk". 2.Next, we need some kind of facial expression that continually appears apparently at random...as if it's been triggered but it isn't really. Some kind of sly look is great. Raise one eyebrow, tighten the muscles around your mouth or lift your ears/hairline (if you can). A sarcastic smile is one I find useful. Relaxed eyes are another good way to achieve this. 3.Funkinate your walking style. Your posture needs to be good. Slumped shoulders are a big no-no. Don't go too far thinking you're a homie though. Don't over-funkinate the walk, you'll look like an idiot.
Everything else is relative. But the 3 important things are: "walk" "facial expression" and the big one - sideys. Too many guys I just shake my head at and tsk tsk tsk because they have no sideys. What is this, the 80s? No sideys?
Always ready to give advice (that is not necessarily useful) - BEN
PS With sideburns, bushier is not necessarily better!!!

r6r - that's a really nice post about Talking to Stone - and yes I couldn't agree more "some one sign me! ! !" ... lol lol
Nick - If the track you post is 'reference' only.. i.e. I use it to create the drum track but it is not used to record over the top of the drums... this will be ok... post it up and I'll start programming as soon as I've completed the solos on my track..
paulclark@rocketmail.com
Avarice - lol... someone's got to fill in for Joe... lol..
I'd be as successfull as him too if I'd sold as many cd's... lol
Ethn - there is practice and then there is practice... I know of folks that spend hour after hour practicing technique... scales, arpeggio sweeps, alternate picking, tapping... it's as if there is some kind of urgency to have the most flawless technique known to man.... hour after hour, day after day...
personally, I couldn't think of any better reason to give up guitar... doing that over and over would just suck all of the passion out of the instrument...
I play because I love playing, I practice what I need to when I need to, I spend 80% of my time with the guitar writing music, improvising and generally having a great time.. on the odd occasion I'll sight read something for fun - rarely guitar music - most often violin, church organ, cello, harpsichord etc...
it sounds to me as though you need to expand your circle of friends, open up, lighten up, get drunk a few times, go to bars and clubs... mingle with the rest of humanity... generally party on and smile a bit... you'll not meet too many girlies sitting on your own with a guitar or a ninja flick....
maybe try to be less serious and enjoy yourself more... it'll come out in your playing... widen your life experience...
I don't really know you that well so if I've gone off on the wrong tack then I appologise...
ovation - that's a nice attitude to what is a painful thing to go through..... # : )

Hello Joe!!
I know your time is valuable, so I'll get to the point. How does somebody get started as an instrumentalist in today's musical meat market?
My Sincere Thanks,

f Austin, LMAO about the lavigne thing. I was just slightly worried at first (I scrolled up to check the news thingy but it wasn't there) until I got to the Snowboarder Guy thing. That Sunglasses wearing Dude was hilarious! What's their second album to be called, Chromedome Bloke or something?
Damn, a whole 364 days until the next april fools day.
I see they've arrested the guy who was wandering round NY claiming to be Mike Portnoy. He knew everything about DT, and hung around in bars, and then stole people he'd duped's money. Oh well, he's behind bars now.

Joe, I don't know if you've heard this one before. I've been listening to your music (and trying to play some of it) since Flying in a blue dream.I am such a big fan that I tried to convince my wife that we should name our second son after you.I had to settle on his middle name--Alex Joseph. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY TRUE NO BS.Anyway, can't wait til your next New Orleans show. Peace out.(Oriental Melody is the coolest song I've ever heard!!!!!)
