Hey Joe, Im just Writing to let you know that your music has literally changed my life. I went from a drug addict to a student at The University of Maine in Augusta, because of how inspired your music has made me. I played Always with me always with you at my recital 4/15/03 last tuesday. I did well. I'd like to hope you would have approved. Anyways im thanking you for making your brilliant "Strange Beautiful Music". I'll continue to try and pick your brain from all the way out in east bumfuck maine. Your #1 fan Alejandro 3

Remember a post in which Joe said he was glad he had the idea to hang the guitar a little higher so he could play a little better? Gosh, I wonder how could he play ANY better!

But anyway, someone could give this idea to Slash...

Mr.NickHave you ever heard of Line 6's Guitar Port? I'm pretty sure you can find a FTLOG backing track as well as a spot on rendering of Steve's tone on that song......You can see more or less what I'm talking about by going to the news section of this site and look for the post that talks about Joe being on Techtv playing with the Guitar Port....just follow the link:)

dear joe, i'm new to js-fandom and new to your website, and having a bit of trouble negoitating reading specific responses to particular people. but anyhoo, first want to say hello to a fellow long islander (i'm from Glen Cove), secondly thanx for the beautiful/courageous/inspiring music, and i wondered about your next visits to (a) australia...you mentioned in a posting in january, and (b) pacific northwest usa. was introduced to your recordings by an aussie fan who is a guitarist. take care, hope you are well and avoiding all viruses.

surferdave - Most of the songs credited to Joe Satriani (Top Gun, Mission Impossible, etc.) are not really him.

You also said that you were downloading some Frank Gambale stuff. Have you heard any of the GHS material? That's Frank Gambale with Stu Hamm and Steve Smith. Check it out...it's some awesome music. Maybe try to listen to Astral Traveler, from Show Me What You Can Do.

Master Yoda / Lord Of Karma6 - Try deleting your temporary internet files before going to the Vai site.
dark high2002 - The LISF DVD is awesome. :-)
ovation1 - Thanks for that picture.
freddyg - The new CD by The Yardbirds is on Favored Nations, and will be released on April 22nd here in the US. Satch does Train Kept A Rollin', Steve Vai does Shapes Of Things, and Slash does Over, Under, Sideways, Down. A few other guitarists are on the CD as well, and there are some new songs too. I think everyone here should buy it.

...Austin...

LordofKarma6: I hold my guitar a little higher than Petrucci. Nothing helps your playing better than having the guitar chest high and thumb on the back of the neck. It's classical posture, removes wrist strain on both hands, and allows the pick to hit the strings at a clean angle.

Dear Joe, My name is Amanda and I am 15 years old. A friend of mine is in love with your music and has even cried to your music. His name is Aj and he is16 and he has been playing the guitar for about three years. He entered into a contest and the winner would get to play at the House of Blues in Chicago. He won the contest and just last week he played there and got to meet a lot of great guitarists. He was the youngest one to play there that night. You are what motivates him to keep playing guitar so he could one day be as good as you. I am sending you this letter to ask you if you could do me a favor. I would like to know if you could sign a picture of yourself and send it back to me so I could give it to Aj, because I had this great idea that it would be the ideal gift to give to him for all the hard work he has been doing and for all the time he has put into practicing the guitar so he could become a great musician as you have become. Thank you for reading this letter and I hope to hear from you. Sincerely, Amanda

...has EVH ever done any projects with Satch or Vai? It would be wierd in a sense, since EVH is more straight-foward and Satch and Vai are more "cosmic".......but nonetheless, it would still be a sight to see!

Chris Peters I'm very sorry if you took any offense to the "high strung" remark I posted earlier. It was meant as a joke in response to a post someone made earlier. It is much easier to play with enhanced precision when the guitar is higher, but I prefer to have mine at more of a "Satch" level.lol

Lord Of Karma6 and OCPS470 - I do believe it makes playing a lot easier... although Tom Morello has his guitar almost like a necklace, and he's not exactly a shreder.

I also believe that, with age, Slash won't be able to bend his knees that much anymore, so he'll have to hang his Les Pauls a bit higher.

Just like what happened to Jimmy Page, I suppose...

Lord Of Karma6, have you heard of "Starfleet Project"? It's a record Eddie Van Halen did with Brian May, in the late '80s... I find it very interesting.

why did Ibanez discontinue the Edge trem? That was probably the best locking, maybe even the best tremolo period. I think the new Edge Pro is a downgrade from the original Edge....oh well, there's always eBay!
