Joe- Did you use that Harmonizer thing on mindstorm? That is really kool i might get one after I get some more money saved up after my daughter is born. anyway.

How do you like using the seven string? Speaking of that. Korn did a tribute song of "One" at this Metallica tribute thing on M2. Dude I didn't think those guys could even play solos. I love the seven string. You can do So much with it if you use every string and not just the low "b". lol. Oh I got the Live in Sf dvd finaly. I love the potato head groove thing where you grab the neck and run that scale. I tried it, but my amp doesn't have that kind of sustain and I don't know what scale you are running. cuz I'm not that educated in theory. lol. But it does sound really good anyway. well gotta jet.

Tony Vaughn.

HEY JOE
When you had just began your career as an instrumental guitarist, did you do any touring to support your CD sales? How did you promote yourself?

hey joe, do you have js with the new edge pro bridge? ever used one? silly question..figured since it's on your guitar and you're usually 2 years ahead of the show with ibanez's releases, you've know about it for a while...just wondering what your opinion of it is...rich harris has a "making a ep work like a lopro" so i'm wondering how/why it's different

what knida bridge is on your guitars? just an edge?

r6rocker: Well I may be a little late, but here's a couple of quotes for ya: Adversity borrows it's sharpest sting from our impatience." Bishop Horne or "If the wicked flourish, and thou suffer, be not discouraged. They are fatted for destruction: thou art dieted for health." Fuller

Clarky: Yeah I like the new mix better, it sounds crisper and full. Don't know why though, I can't cite anything specific.

greg m: That's one hell of a cool English teacher. My English teacher had never heard of Floyd. Or music for that matter lol

PhryDom: My favorite smell? Good weed when freshly lit. Sorry to offend anyone, but I grin just thinking about it. Speaking of which.....

Elpp: Yeah I listen to some public radio but not real often. I rarely listen to the radio at all, but here on friday nights, they play 2 hours of Zappa so I usually try to catch that. I hardly ever listen to regular stations.

alexandrecaetano: Cool, that's good to hear.

JSClone: Release date? I don't know. Soon. We gotta get the artwork lined out and should be ready to rock.

OK, I gotta go for now, got cotton mouth and all.

If you can get a pizza, furniture, appliances, car, or whatever else you can think of delivered to your home, why in the hell can't you get beer delivered? They could check your ID when they brought it. Think of the tips the drivers would make delivering to drunks. And they could deliver anything that's normally in a liquor store: Peanuts, beef jerky, pig rinds, chips, cigarettes, etc. What is wrong with a good wholesome idea like that?

Clarky: the tricky bit is getting back to the original "speed" I often find!

Silmarien: exams start in 3 weeks, but all my assignments are due in the meantime. (AAARRRGGGHHH!!!) I hate not knowing whether I passed or not, but if you tried hard to study, and tried hard in the exam then you can't feel guilty. Just let down. (if you fail I mean)

Dave: favourite smell - white chocolate

Trutina: drunk people would get grog delivered and Mr Delivery would get abused/beaten/shot.

happy days! BEN

Clarky: haven't gotten the remix yet, but trutina did so mine's close JSClone1: thanks a bunch man! If there's one thing that I think I do well on the guitfiddle it's playing very cleanly. I've got more stuff if you're interested. Matt:I think Joe's smooth album sound is the result of several things. In albums before EOC when joe was still using a DS1 into a 6100 in the studio(same as live rig) he was still recording to tape and micing his amps, possibly with tube mics, both creating a smoother sound. Live uses an SM57 to mic, probably recorded digital and probably played with lower amp volumes making for a less smooth sound. Also, in EOC and SBM Joe's said he used the Cornford hurricane (SBM) and fender bassmans(EOC) almost exclusively, both are lower wattage amps, and I think in the case of the Cornford, joe was driving it for distortion instead of using the DS1, this would also create a smoother sound. I will say though, that mic placement is CRUCIAL. try micing the upper left speaker of your 4X12 putting the mic about 2 inches away, then move it left of center till it sounds warm enough. Hope all that helps. That's why I dig the PODPRO, it has a Soldano model that gets me a very smooth high gain bridge tone, like EJ with more definition.

TRUTINA -Nice appropriate quotes dude, a new day and a kick up the butt from Dave has lead me to view the situation in a more, shall we say philosophical way ;-) I thought perhaps this would have been appropriate for me Ordinarily he was insane, but he had lucid moments when he was merely stupid.Heinrich Heine (1797 - 1856)
As for beer delivery, well you need to be a regular but it can be done. I used to drive taxi's in the evenings and as it was for a small firm they were fairly flexible, i used to end up going to off licences and take-away places that didn't deliver or even down to the garage to get cigarettes, then just charge the cost of the taxi on top of the goods when delivered. Now that's what i call service, as for getting beat up / shot etc, trying picking up from the night clubs at 02.30am on a Sunday morning, i'd rather deliver beer ;-) Great smell man, and why does that come as no suprise -lol -or course if you didn't suffer from short-term memory loss you would have remembered to buy the beer in the first place - lmao

PHRYDOM - Being rude to people ? tsk, tsk, although from the ruthless self promotion ethic that you attributed to these late comers, climber seems a most appropriate nick - lol

MATT Dude, i checked your link, you're a promising you musician, don't throw your life away on drugs -lmao

R6rocker I am also currently purchasing a house...talk about a pain in the ass. I am still fighting with the owner over repairs that she should make before I buy the house, we've already agreed on a price and signed the contract, but when we do the home inspection, I find many things wrong with the house that need to be fixed. She refuses to fix things that any responsible homeowner never would have let run down int he first place. Not to mention the stress of the 100 pages that you have to read and sign from the bank for the Mortage loan...it goes on and on and on.

Matt very funny on the Techno...it's funny our band jokes around like that sometimes into the mics when we play...sometimes it comes out not sounding half bad with a good guitar riff over it. Hey is there a spot towards the end where you start to laugh? I thought I heard it...

SHARIF - You can see why moving house is cited as one of the most stressful things that you can do in your life. I'm trying to be a bit calmer about it all today ;-) Even in your case, as with mine, if you didn't like the house / area you wouldn't want to live there in the first place, so i'm just trying to picture us being moved in and settled again. Hope it all smooths out for you bro', just keep looking for the light at the end of the tunnel - lol

Argh... r6rocker already made the Apocalypse Now joke. I guess that's what I get for posting before reading all of T2J. So I'll change my favorite smell to "That smell...can't you smell that smell?"...

migupais - Have you seen the Reel Satriani video? It's a short documentary about the making of Joe's self-titled album. If you watch it, you basically see Joe write the song If in less than 30 minutes. It's insane...he's too good! ;-)

ianjf - The webcast can't be turned into a DVD because it wasn't filmed in quality suitable for release. The webcast feed was compressed.

I don't like techno music, but I loved EOC. I think I like it because I knew what to expect before hearing it. Also, I bought the album only a week or two before I saw Joe live (4/12/00, opening night of the EOC tour). So I immediately had a live introduction to several songs on the album, and I was able to like them in a new way.

mick87 - Have you heard Dave and Tim's new song, Stay Or Leave? It's unreleased, and was played on the DM/TR tour that they just did. It's a slower song, and the playing isn't technical by any means...but I REALLY like it.

...Austin...

Serak - Id say that Heineken or Joe's crew have that concert recorded in Digital Format and then webcast it compressed in web format. So they should be able to make a DVD. But even if they werent Joe might still put one together like LISF.

I know what you are saying about the EOC. I suppose it depends on when you heard them really??? The first time I heard/saw Joe was on the G3 DVD. I then proceeded to buy the LISF DVD which is my absolute favourite. Then got Time Machine which has a Live DVD with it. Then SBM which is similar in style and then EOC which was just like way out there you know, so I suppose I just found it so different to what I was used to with Joe....

Ian.

Lord Of Karma6 yes! I noticed that too! I remember at the gig I thought he was going to play the whole track!!!

trutina your honesty will probably get you into trouble! Especially in here! LOL!!! But good answer nonetheless ;-)

Benny forgot to say yesterday - I can re-encode those to smaller files if you want...?

r6r rude? man, i'll forward my reply to you.... but what can one expect when they send two huge files in the wrong format to the wrong person with no warning, accompanied by a subject line of "good or not?" Jeez... it's also sad to see people resorting to abuse when they have acted foolishly!

Narface that sounds pretty cool!

Joe You going to see The Matrix Reloaded tonight?

Everyone else in America- go and make it a big opening weekend, it'll be thoroughly entertaining, even if it is slightly confusing- and talk to me if you're confused about how x, y, or z can be so... I've had a while to contemplate such things. Just go watch it, it'll rule!
