Mowlie 200-If you can find a copy of April's GUITAR TECHNIQUES, they tab STARRY NIGHT and the CD that month has backing track to play with. Also that month has LENNY with a backing track, too.

I agree with Hamdo. Let's leave our religious beliefs aside for now and get back to Joe. I know some of us here on the site are trying our best ot explain ourselves and it is great, but I don't like reading lines of people talking smack to eachother. That is totaly disrespectful to Joe who made this post board a way for all of us FANS to ask questions to him and exchange info on guitar playing or whatever tickles our fancy.

Everyone here is mature so let's get off of our soap boxes (I'm hopping off mine now).

Hey everyone! Just checking in to see what's going on.... been very busy lately, haven't been able to jump on the compy recently. I'm down to one crutch and walking like a gimp, but in four weeks I should be "normal" (as normal as I can get anyway), and its great. Thank you all for all the kind words, and if anyone's wondering.... I'm not changing the JS1K around. Too much work, and I'm too attached to it. Plus, I'm broke. so looks like i'll be continuing the way i've been playing it. everyone take care!

Please Jon can we have an updated News item to the covers page?????

Hiram Abif: I hate to point this out to you, but several of us warned you not to go down that road when you first started asking about him. Multiple times. But you did. And Avarice caught the scent of fresh blood and here we are. And like I said, I'm not supporting what he said, simply his right to do so.

Mick 87: LMAO on the new topic. I'm guessing he likes to eat White Castles (in other areas Krystal) by the case!

Had to edit, left a very important word out.

Alexandria, that's cool that you're keeping it standard setup. And it's cool that you're getting better. Hope everything else is good! take it easy

Crispin, as I said, the Dual Rec is 'more ampy', so it's clean channel will amplify your guitar's tone, rather than amplifying your guitar's notes, then giving them an accent, if you get what I mean.

But again, it depends on what sound you want. You should definitely check out some more classic rigs as well - Fender, Vintage Marshall. With those guitars I would want something really smooth like a Fender, but that's just my favoured tone.

Dual rec wouldn't be the first thing I thought of if I was after a new amp. I'd probably have a fender or another Legacy! hehe.

Basically, you just gotta try it. your ears will tell you in ten minutes what a bunch of magazines and people's recommendations will tell you in the next ten years, but yeah, I suppose we can help point you in the roughly-right direction.

Happy amp-testing!

SOTD, Juice. Gotta love that solo!
Anybody know what pickups go in Music Man Luke guitars?

C'mon guys where's the love gone? I agree with the people who say Joe would be disappointed with the amount of abuse going on here. This is a place where Satch fans from around the world are meant to unite. Mabye the reason he hasn't posted any answers is because nearly all the questions are caught up in hate spam. Let's cool it down a tone, please.

come on guys, 3 more votes and the shaky joe front no. 6 cover will lead! It outclasses the rest by a megaparsec!

crushing day You may have guessed from the writing above, I just did physics today, and there were some people in the same hall doing music. Do you do the OCR Advancing Physics course? I do and I did the two A2 papers as opposed to the synoptic/pre release paper. I only started revising for the first time after stopping lessons at 9.30 last night, and I found them very easy, but then I'm quite good at physics, though I say it myself. Lots of other people found it good, too, so are you doing a different course?

Aah, I feel so tired. I've just been playing along to MGWTKYM on G3, though, and No Surprises off Radiohead's OK Computer - I'm not up to anything more serious at the moment - I need some sleep.

alexandre Putting bits of your broadcst on the net would be cool.

joebo...my zoom settings..from when you press edit, then go left - room....presence 0 (high 12, middle 0)...znr 7.....dist 2 (gain 20, tone 7, level 8) and thats about it really. the ones in brackets you change with the white knobs above, and the black knob to the right of the volume one is set to off but the sound also depends on the amp settings and sound...so change them around to find out the right balance and setttings :)

also..everyone else..what is the cheapest digital 4 track recorder?? in good condition 2nd hand, but otherwise new.

crushing day About the JS ep. 4 words for you - Surfing with the Alien

bahumit If you find that, you wouldn't be able to email it to me / post it on the net, would you? Please?

Hee Hee, just think, right now, all the year 9s in my school (apart from 2) are settling down in their campsites after the first day of their bronze DoE expedition. I bet most of them have blisters and hated it. Little do they know how much harder it gets! Hee Hee, this is so funny.

962 The Ernie Ball/Music Man Luke's have EMG's. The humbucker is a model 85 and the single's are both SLV custom's. Speaking of Music Man, the EVH is the best guitar they ever produced.
Here is my Top 5 of Guitars:
1. Ibanez JS1
2. Ernie Ball/Music Man Edward Van Halen/Axis
3. Ibanez Jem GMC
4. Ernie Ball/Music Man John Petrucci
5. Ibanez Universe MC

The Reaper: Your 14 right? Yeah I'm 15. Hey if your just starting out get an ACOUSTIC GUITAR!!!! DO NOT START OUT ON ELECTRIC!!! The acoustic builds up strenght in your fingers, in the long run its better for you. So get an acoustic, maybe an Ibanez but it's up to you. And take lessons.

IbanezGuitarist Peavey does produce EVH's sig guitar, which is called the Wolfgang, but before Peavey, he was with with Ernie Ball/Music Man. In my opinion, the Music man's are far superior to the Wolfgang's. The Wolfgang's feel more like a production model, while the Music Man has more of a "custom Shop" feel to them. They sound killer too!

This guy at school's really getting on my nerves. He's played tuba for some years (not sure whether he does anymore). He's one of those people who have the absolute worst taste ever - anything shit from the Monkees onwards, and now he claims to be playing guitar. He's trying to build a wah pedal etc (hmm, tthat does sound like a good idea) and says he's building an electric, but is going to start n a nylong string, "because they're the easiest to play" I tell him that they're not, and he goes "well I've been told they are, so there." LOOK YOU STUPID PERSON, I'M PROBABLY THE MOST EXPERIENCED IN THE WHOLE SCHOOL WHEN IT COMES TO NYLON STRINGS SO WHY DON'T YOU LISTEN? Apart from less left hand finger pain, they are so the hardest guitars to play! Why do loads of people seem to think that the guitar is easier to play than other instruments, something they can take up as a not very serious project, like its inferior to other musical instruments? They are so wrong, and its ther reason why there are such a lot of shit guitarists out there (actually, thats probably the reason people have these thoughts). It is SO ANNOYING and I really don't what to have to endure either this guy playing the shite he likes or else talking about, "oh I play guitar so well now" (yeah, only if you think that guitar is only about chords, not the rest of music!) Grrrrrrrr, I am pissed off.

EDIT - another of his comments, "O why then Greg, do you play guitar?"

megaparsec?????? Now I'm really glad I dropped this year's course LOL

Here's a little story-with-a-moral email I got this evening... sorry it's kinda long..... and I copied and pasted so all spelling errors aren't mine!

The Donkey in the Well

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do.

Finally he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway, it wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.
He invited all of his neighbors to come over and help him. They each grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well.

At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement, he quieted down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer looked down into the well, and was astonished at what he saw.
As every shovel of dirt hit his back, the donkey did something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up.
Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and trotted off.

The Moral:

Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a stepping stone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up!

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
Free your heart from hatred.
Free your mind from worries.
Live simply.
Give more.
Expect less.

OK that's enough of that crap.....

The donkey later came back, caught the farmer out in the field and kicked the crap out of him. Then he went over to each of the farmer's neighbors and kicked the crap out of them too for helping.

The REAL moral:

When you try to cover your ass, it always comes back to get you!

So if Joe's really too busy to give us all a "hi" where and what is he doing? Anyone know? Maybe moving house? Holidaying? Maybe he & Rubina are parents again? He's not touring that we know of, he's not in the studio that we know of, and his last post here was something like the tail end of April.... two months without a post..... maybe he's reinventing his image cos Oakley wouldn't give him any more free shades.... or over in Japan working on the new Ibanez JS7..... or somewhere where there's snow and boarding like a crazy man....

This weekend I'm gonna work on an unplugged version of one of my tracks... cos somebody asked me to! :-O !!!!!!!! Enjoy your weekend everyone, and don't forget to vote!!!!! Have a great Summer Solstice too!

EDIT: So good to see wolfie checking back at the ranch again! Completely and utterly incomprehensible to me, but great to see all the same! :-)
