Happy Independence Day to the Satriani family and everyone on T2J.

MY Song Of The Day: Liberty by Steve Vai.

Plum Loco A stellar version of Clouds Race Across The Sky! I would love to hear some more Enginies tunes. You have slamming guitar tone on that track too. Very good job indeed. ;)

Matthew Martinez!!! Thanks man... that means alot... I wish I could write songs as beautiful as that... I find it hard to find the patience...

It's one thing to learn & play a tune of someone else's but to write something as equal in beauty... that's the real trick now isn't it??

T2J- Alexandre just gave me the recording of the whole interview and I'll translate it as soon as I finish my exams. My website server sucks, so I thought maybe it's better if I write the translation in a file and then e-mail it to Dave so that he can put it in a place where everyone can access it. What do you think about this, PhryDom?

alexandre- A entrevista ficou mto porreira! :) Tb ja tive a ouvir o CD do Gonçalo e gostei bastante! Os gemidos da mulher dele tb tao afinadinhos e tudo. lol! O sacana do gajo toca bem! Enfim, hoje não pude mesmo ficar la mto tempo... temos d combinar dps qq coisa num dia menos "apertado". Gostaste do Hard Rock? Ta mto fixe, n ta? Bem, vo tentar 2a feira fazer a traduçao disto. Um abraço.

JOE JOE JOE JOE JOE JOE JOE JOE JOE JOE JOE JOE JOE, PLEASE ASK MICK TO TALK TO TRUTINA. WE NEED MICK TO TALK TO TRUTINA FOR THE T2J CD TO PROCEED TO THE NEXT LEVEL OF PRODUCTION

Clarky: I love reading your take on melody and music....It really makes me think, and I ponder those same things in my head, but it is great to read your interpretation's..Kind of like sitting in the classromm at the University and listening to the Pofessor, thank's....And btw, what about the Goldberg variation's, lol....

Stu Clone: lol dude, I have'nt heard Stoooo's version, and I'm sure it's awesome!!....I notice it is on his "Outbound" release.. I must check it out....Paul's version is from a Young Guitar DVD where he recorded the "I like Rock" song w/ 100 of his guitar's and basses....He changed clothes for almost each take, and in between, would play little ditty's....Well, halfway through (on guitar #73), he was wearing the red, white, and blue jacket and pants w/ a rare IBY V and broke into the SSB....It was really amazing to see him play it, and then go bannana's at the end and throw in the intro to "Green Tinted Sixties Mind".....Never seen Paul more serious....lol

PlumLoco: lol dude, your version of CRATS is great!!....btw, I wonder what it must have been like to be a drinking buddy of Alex and Geddy!!!!....I can only imagine!!!!....I remember a vid I saw from their studio....Serene and beautiful view of the Forest and it was snowing....I'm sure alot of inspiration came from that studio!!....

962: lol, on the tapped solo's....Greg Howe is THE MASTER at that....He's so smooth at it that you can't hear the transition from picking to the tapped bit in the run at all....And like most "shred only" git's, he doesnt have much melody....

Later all, /\/\ike

btw, MICK: GET AHOLD OF TRUTINA!!!!

Song Of The Day - AVARICE's instrumental b-side.

Here's a cool Independence Day thing, for those who didn't get the chance to see fireworks tonight: http://home.rochester.rr.com/kuksoolwon/fireworks/Fireworks.html

I heard that Barry White passed away today. I hate to bring bad news here, but I didn't see anyone else mention it.

lissy - Joe will be back eventually.

JS Clone 1 - The crop circles are actually very easy to create. After drawing the design to scale, you just need a stake or two, a few feet of rope, and a board to smash down the crops. If you don't know how these things are made, I can give you more details...
SupaaDave - 'Sup, A A-Dave? Sorry...but I just had to make fun of your new name. ;-)
962 - I didn't know that EJ has publishing problems. I do know that most record companies hate him, though, because it takes him forever to record albums. I think he's had a different record company for each of his releases.
death cube K - What Beatles song did he cover?
Zshredder - I doubt it. If one was in the works, I'm sure it would be available already. One might show up in the future if Joe writes more 7-string stuff.

...Austin...

Ovation1: Yeah Geddy, Alex, & Neal's Studio I'm pretty sure was in a small place called Aurora, Ontario... I used to play quite a bit of hockey there and it seems to me there's alot of wooded areas there... and yes, I'm imagining it was the Tom Sawyer vid that you were refering to with the snow in the background... Aurora is about 20km from Toronto... They were all from Toronto more or less... but that's what most Canadian bands say... cause it seems that Toronto is the most known Canadian City... But the Province of Ontario is a huge chunk of land... it's about the size of 1.5 Texas states slapped together... Quebec is the biggest Province though... Probably the size of 2 Texas states... Oh and as I said before... thanks for liking Clouds... but I'm not Joe, but I take comfort that I can at least sort of sound like him from time to time... The 1st time I heard Joe play was in the song Echo... I had just got dumped by my ex-girlfriend and her older brother was playing this stuff on the tape player while he drove me home... It brought tears to my eyes, but believe me it was the music, not the actual dumping process, that came later...

Alexandre... Thanks... Glad you liked it... I just wish one day that I have the ability to write something so beautiful... Another guy that writes great instrumental pieces, mostly Jazz and Classical is a guitar player by the name of "Rik Emmett"... I've seen this man twice in concert and it's really amazing to see him play guitar, but on top of that, he's got to be one of the most amazing singers with the guitar too... Rik was the ex-lead guitar/ lead singer of the band called "Triumph" a band that was actually bigger once than AC-DC... I know this because AC DC opened up for Triumph even though both bands had started up around the same time and hit it off big around the same time too... if you want... download a couple of tunes from them... they are called "Magic Power", "Lay It On The Line", & "Hold On" all featuring Rik on Vocals & Guitar... this stuff is old but respectable!

Plum Loco: Man, I'm really digging that cover of Clouds Race Across the Sky. I've listened to it several times and like it more and more each listen. Great stuff, great tone. Very very nice.

SupaaDave: There's a possibility of me making up for that show, but I'm not sure at the moment. Hopefully all will work out and the three of us can hook up for a beer or two.

Clarky: Thanks for saying that about my playing. I do tend to go for the less is more routine rather than laying it all out there. I mean my playing vocabulary is quite limited so why use the whole thing up in 8 measures when I can spread it out some, right?

death cube K: I think Roth's new album is all covers. Was the song you heard Vegas style Dave or some other new abomination?

I wrote and recorded two new tunes today. One is called Recycled and has some ideas from previous songs and the other is called Mindless that I wrote in honor of the mindless debate. Unfortunately I can't upload them on my iuma yet because the servers are down. Maybe tomorrow. And if anyone listens to Mindless, please remember it was a joke.

Greg: Are you referring to John the Duke of Avram? It was completely against the law, but he didn't get into any trouble I don't think. Good laugh though.

PS there's the island continent "Australia"...and there's the country "Australia" (which includes the island of Tasmania).

Talking about slow notes: yeah I suppose it's because if a note is 0.1 of a measure out of time, the more time between notes, the more out of time the note will be. Confused?

0.1 * 2 sec = 0.2 seconds out.
0.1 * 0.5 sec = 0.05 seconds out.

Mistakes are more noticeable. Imperfections are amplified. Stuffups are more obvious.

Trutina: "some other new abomination" heh heh heh
Okay, so I'm the only one that doesn't get the "instrumental B-side" joke?

Too bad.

Far out, what is it with everyone and their screen-long postings? We must be bored/boring people. Well speaking of bored, I think I'll go and get some blisters and blood knuckles whilst testing the new head on my bass drum.

It's been a week...withdrawal...must...hit...something...

or someone...any volunteers?

Clarky Thanks man, I'll check some of that out ;-)

STUCLONE Yeah, as well as some of the dancers being naked, their actual movements were far removed from the traditional grace and elegance, that was associated with ballet. Almost like the start of modern dance.

PLUM LOCO Yeah great band, if a little dated man. I was watching the '87 Triumph show recorded in Nova Scottia (sp?) only last week.............................. ...... because this is your night of Triumph ! Classic stuff, I'll have to drag the Allied Forces LP out later ;-)

Do The Stu: Thank's for that kuul link!!....We had fun with it.... Also, did'nt know that Barry White passed away....He had the most soulful recognizable voice out there....RIP Barry....

Plum Loco: lol, I see what your saying about Canada....It's like how I tell people I'm originally from Boston....When I actually lived in a suburb 25 mins away....It makes it easier to explain to people....And speaking of which, that reminds me of "SUBDIVISIONS"!!....Another great RUSH tune, and related to the topic ;-)....btw, that's a great way to get introduced to JOE, lol, when your down, he brings you up!!....I found out about him from a friend (from Cali) that told me the old: "Hey, you like guitar music....Have you heard of JOE SATRIANI??".. And as JOE say's: "And the rest..Is History"....btw2, I was a big Triumph fan in High School when I played drums....Yeah, Rik's a great player, and singer....Glad to hear he is still around....

trutina: I'll check out your new tunes when I get a chance....

Narface: Thank's for checking....My MMJB is trying to d/l it first....I got to figure a way to have Media Player d/l it....btw, what program does it open with/ play on for you??

Later all, /\/\ike
