Saw Adrian Legg last night. He's quite a funny character. Played acoustic set (as always) and sounded good. A few impressive tunes. I saw him support Joe on the Extremist tour about 11 years ago I think. He is currently heading to Florida if anyone is interested - playing small cafe type places. I just got back from the UK on Sunday night but Adrian managed to keep me awake for the show. Worth going to.

seventhseal: Yeah, I read the same information in the Straits Times; to be truthful, I was kinda hoping he'd pop by in December this year but I guess that isn't to be. What business are you here for?

I hope Joe doesn't release a 'Best Of' compilation...it's got to be the worst thing any artiste can release, IMO

Does anyone have any idea for a decent name for the seventh mode of the Harmonic minor scale? Clarky? Matt? So far, the best I can come up with is Diminished Altered. Any better ideas?

Here's the scale: 1, b2, b3, b4, b5, b6, bb7

AL 205: "Oh sure and begorrah, I was misunderstandin' yer! I'm 5 foot three, and I'm sitting up the front!"

Master Yoda,
that looks about right... can't remember, but I think you called it diminished altered?
Doesn't sound right though. Something from my music vocabulary wants me to change that to altered diminished.

when trying to find a good answer/verification, found this site --> http://www.xs4all.nl/~huygensf/doc/modename.html holy crap!

that site calls a 1 b2 b3 4 b5 b6 bb7 a locrian double flat 7....
if it weren't for the double flat seven in your scale, i would call it super locrian (everything flat)... so it could be super locrian double flat seven... until i find a better name. altered double flat seven also looks like it works...

also, the "Mela Ragavardhani, Raga Cudamani" scales look REALLY close.... seriously, everyone check out that site... VERY vast indeed.

hahahaha... also found one that says that would be "ultra locrian"

matt: you tricky fella, you got to it first! i agree w/ the super locrian interpretation, though altered diminished sounds real damn cool!

joke for yah-

A man is walking through the mall with his teen-age son. The son is tossing a quarter up in the air and catching it between his teeth. On one such attempt, the boy fails to clamp down with his teeth and ends up getting the quarter lodged in his throat. As the boy begins to choke and wheeze the father panicks and starts yelling for help. Not to far from the action is a man sitting at a coffee shop reading a paper and drinking his coffee, when he hears the fathers distressed cries he patiently puts down his coffee and folds his paper, he then walks slowly over to the boy and grabs him by the balls and squeezes the shit out of them. The boy coughs up the quarter and the man catches it in his hand and proceeds to walk away with it, sitting back down to his coffee. The amazed father runs over and says “Thank You Sir, you saved my son’s life, are you a Doctor?” “No” the man replies, “I work for the IRS.”
