Joe, any idea when you will be performing in the NYC area? Unfortunately, I have never seen you play live, something I will endeavor to correct. I have been a "serious" audiophile for many years and with the exception of some classical "Deutsche Grammophone" DDD discs, still find it difficult to hear any that "sound" better than yours! Kudos to your recording engineers!!

HA! I remember when I suggested Yngwie join the G3 tour.....let me know if I influenced your decision Joe....lol
PLEASE PLEASE come to Detroit Mic.!!!!!! Joe, I would be able to cross off a topic on my list of things to do in my life-time (even though I saw you twice already, including 2001's g3). It would make alot of loyal fans very very happy (especially me!) if you Steve and Yngwie came to Detroit!!!!!!
Thanx Joe!

Hey Joe, it's your twin from Dallas..."SIGN MY HEAD". I'm kinda dissapointed with the choice of Mr. Malmsteen on the G3 tour. There are 100s and 100s of other guitarists out here who would compliment the artistry alot better...Mattias IA Eklundh, Marty Friedman, Mark Akin, or even something jazzy like Norman Brown. When you come to Dallas, you might wanna check into this new cat named Jake Crawford as a guest appearance. Alright, well...hope to see you again.~PLaGHS~the other Joe

HELP WANTED: I recently noticed that my guitar has a soft hum when plugged in. When I touch the metal parts of my guitar, the hum goes away. Is the ground faulty? should the foil on the underside of the pickguard be grounded as well?

I have a question and maybejoe is reading this.
I would love to ask him a question directly.
He is one of my biggest influences and I have always wanted to know how he writes. basically what does he start with and does he write with a drummer? or drum machine?> in todays case lol acid or fruity loops which is what i use when writing. I have aleways wanted to know
where he begins on writing and is it the same with everything he does?
This question im sure has been asked a million times but
i have never heard the answer lol can I have the milliuon and one answer?
thanks a million

the people who wrote the artcile probably wanted to put real guitar players on there, but they couldn' cuz they wanted to make money. that's what it's all about, right? and right there, is a pretty good example of why G3 won't survive well in Europe. Cuz only the fans give a sh*t, and unfortunately, that's not enough unless you're in a big country like the US, or in a high population area like the far east. Also, Japan loves this kind of music more than the rest of us, so it's easier to go there.
HK magazine sounds like EVO magazine.
sorry Chris, I know which grey background you're talking about now. thought you meant the message board one.
er, Narface, was it you who said something about your guitar humming when you touch metal parts? well, first thing to checo is that the earth wire is still attached between the pots and the jack-socket.
If it is attached, it could be fractured. it wouldn't hurt to replace the wire. How old is the guitar? cuz they do tend to do that as they get older. it doesn't hurt to periodically replace all the guitar's wires actually.
Finally, if all the wries are good and attached properly, and it still makes noise, you can solder a small capacitor onto the positive and negative of the jack socket.
The hum is basically there because you are partially earthing the guitar.

About that Rollingstone issue and the list... Except for the absence of the obvious guitar players (already discussed at T2J) Kurt Cobain listed no. 12? As a guitar player? Before Jeff Beck and Mark Knopfler and Brian May? Well, I was surprised... And oh yeah... Jenifer Batten for G3 2004

hey joe, hey guys
joe, i saw the message you posted about the two ds-1 pedals. i would have thought that using them both at the same time at the settings you use( e.g.the gain knobs turned all the way up on full power)you would get an incredible amount of UNWANTED interference. not so much feed back but high amount of buzzing. having watched you play oriental melody live you dont seem to have that problem. i get it all the time just by using one ds-1 pedal at the same settings you use, god knows what it would sound like if i used two. can you please tell me how you stop this from happening, do you use some sort of noise suppresser? this would be a great help................good luck for the g3 tour this year.
