I believe it'll be Matt Bissonette, not Stu, with joe on G3 this year.

WOOHOOO, putting a poll up for the CD - good move! You're welcome, by the way ;) hehehe

I'll refrain from wasting web-space with my votes until it's up, but for now The Forgotten (Parts 1 and 2)

I often buy complations, especially if I have everything else by the artist - I like to have a collection.
Lord Of Karma, check out the recent photos, where you will see Joe holding a JS7. or do you mean 'anything in the works for a production model?'

if so then, it seems hopeful. I think Vai might try for production on his mirror-top Jem as an anniversary model, so it wouldn't surprise me to see a JS7 come out at a similar time.

JS Clone, too right about the German cars. about as reliable as, well, something really reliable.

So a riced Civic can beat most cars in a quarter mile sprint? But if you rice the cars it's up against, to make it fair, then once again, it'll get thrashed.

Joe, I've been playing for 4 years, this christmas it will be 5. I need some advice...
1. Whats the best why to use Vibrato, And when? (I'm worried incase my playing, sounds like pub singing)
2. How can I make the notes I play, go from soft whispering to loud screming notes?
3.Which way do you hold your pick? I been told, the way a player holds the pick, can make the playing a lot different...?
JOE RULES ...janice...

ovation - thanx from nominating DRE2 for song of the day... makes me all proud...

here's the latest.. The Raft Of The Medusa backing track is complete minus all guitars - which I'll be starting tomorrow night.. it took something like 40 tracks in all and I still need 8 tracks for the guitars... I think that you could say that this piece has a 'thick orchestration'.. lol
so just as I thought that mixing was going to be a nightmare.. I added stuff and made it worse...
but then, if Spock was a composer he'd have exactly the same attitude as me..

"the noise of the many greatly outweighs the noise of the few"

wise words.. lmao

Something else too... I just noticed that the volume knob on Avarice goes up to '11'... no shit.. I lmao when I spotted it...

this can only mean one thing... more volume.. lmao

Mick87 - I've just started recording the final versions for the album.. I've almost completed The Raft of the Medusa.. I completed The Rape of the Sabine Women but I'm going to re-record it... it's good enough but I know I can do better... I'm not into putting out something that is 'suffice'..

my drums: Cubase VST32 sequencing.. The drums themselves are sampled into a Korg Triton.. [the drums on the IUMA tunes are pretty much the same but they are in my AKAI sampler - the Triton has a better signal to noise ration so I use that now.. I build my kit my self from various places.. such my snare drum is a mixture of my own drummers snare + Alan Whites snare from Yessongs + a snare sample from a keyboard mag... I tuned it a little higher, re-EQ'd it, altered the envelope and compressed the shit out of it.. the rest of the kit is built the same way out of all kinds of stuff from all over the place... I like it though.. I program the drums using the drum editor.. every beat and every velocity of every drum is input via the mouse one by one... very time consuming but very precise [and I think they sound pretty organic and realistic so I'm happy].. what does help is that I was a drummer before being a guitarist so I know what goes where and understand the mechanics or playing.. I've been doing it so long this way that I can look at a drum editor window and sight read / sight sing [it like reading a score..]
now that is pretty sad... I need to get out more..

Trutina - I'll mail you... and sorry for the delay.. I've got a head full of my album right now.. so I'm none too good at thinking..

BeeZer - I have a similar problem with my ibanez where the strap came loose. I did it doube tight and its ok for now but I have heard that you can get some cocktail sticks and glue then into the hole and re drill the thread!! obviously if its new then take it back!!

Nice one people!!!

For 'ollyno1uk' - I would take it back, the thought had crossed my mind.

But once you have played, what I feel the perfect guitar, with its smooth, warm neck, not even a little sweat can get to me, when I play this 'beast' on stadge.

Most guitars, when you hands start to sweat, the neck gets sticky, and it restricts your hand movement.

With this guitar I don't have that. If I were to take it back I would have to choose a different guitar, because they don't make this model anymore. Sadly

Just seen Joe's message. Essential JS, huh? Well, it's all pretty essential!!! I guess Flying in A Blue Dream is a MUST, but it is already on a couple of live CD's and the original so I'd have to go for something else... The live version of Mystical Potato always rocks, maybe 1 or 2 "singing" songs, in which case "Strange" and "I Believe", a couple of "sufing" type songs (Alien, Satch Boogie) and yes Love Thing, which is a great ballad.

Just my 2p's worth

BeeZer: Hey! I have an RG570EX as well! I gotta say that is a wonderful guitar. Do you have the one with the Edge bridge or Lo Pro Edge? I like the Lo Pro Edge more because of its low profile. Actually, this guitar is now available as a Prestige model. It is now called RG2570EX!!

About the problems of your guitar. Make sure the parts are actually 100% damaged beforeyou replace them. Switches forexample tend to clog up a lot of dirt and block the circuit. A spray of WD40 and a few back and forth motion on the switch would clean up the clog. And about the jack... what exactly happened? That part usually has very little chance of becoming faulty. If it's loose, then tighten the clamp by pushing it closer to the center. As for your strap pins. You'll have to unscrew it and fill it in with wood filler and stick a toothpick in the center of the hole. After it dries, drill a new hole and screw the pin back on.

That Ibanez is a nice model. Try out everything before you decide you want to return it. By the way, you can check out my RG570EXCPK here.

Joe - How about when this essential JS cd has 20 previous tracks and 5 new, just to give us more of an incentive to buy it... I believe that's what Andy Timmons did with his Favored Nations release, put out the best of his two Ear-X-tacy albums + 5 new songs. Just a thought.. and your DS-1's, those are Keeley tweaked right?

Clarky - Geese man, you got that down to a science! lol... good to hear you're getting your tracks down perfectly for the album too.

Matt - Sounds good man... Let us know when it's ready!

Edit - So sorry to hear that bad news Steve... my sympathy goes out to his family.

hi! sorry to hear about the outrageous cost of tickets for your show. is part of it going to charity, or what is up with that? kinda missing the state of tex-ass, surprising given your fan base here. guess you have the master plan well in hand. really don't know, at this point. hope that the chat is up soon, seems as though the european contingency can get in, but the u.s. is s.o.l..funny deal what with a tour here, and no tour there. go figure.s! 8)

sorry to hear the sad news of Satchman 9.

janice mmm, jack sockets are prone to going wrong. If they are drilled straight in to the edge of the body like they are on the RG series, they usually go wrong. the angled ones in the JS/Jems and on the top of the S's - Strat-style - are okay.

The problem with the Rg style ones is generally that the weight of the cable, with leverage through the jack plug, bends the terminals inside the socket. That's partly why its beneficial to tuck your cable through your strap.

The fact that all these things went wrong a few months after you bought it are of concern. suggests it was in the shop for a long time before you bought it. that's where most damage happens to guitars, in the shop.

Switches do indeed get dirty, as do pots, so if you decide to put (the good combination) of PAF Pro's and Fred in your RG, you should buy some sealed DiMarzio pots while you're at it. Sealed pots won't get nearly as dusty, and when you do want to clean inside a pot, use a squirt of switch cleaner.

if you don't want to spend around ten quid on each DiMarzio pot, then spend a few quid less on one by WD Music Products, but to be honest, DiMarzio pots will work better with DiMarzio pickups.

You could even get a push-pull so you get a coil-tap on the humbuckers, more like Joe uses. that's probably what I'll do to my RG.

Regards vibrato, I take it you're talking about the one on the bridge, and not a pedal? well, dive bombs are good, as are those rising harmonics that Joe does a lot. refer to the LISF DVD for a lesson.

Joe won't mind you covering his stuff. most of us here do it a lot!
