mick87 - I thinks it's worth getting your drums down to an art and a science.. [or be in a band with an awesome drummer]
a good / much old and wiser pal once said to me:
"if your singer and drummer are very exciting, the rest of the band can be quite ordinary and you'll still sound increadible"
this is just so very true...
the singer is the focal point and the drummer is the heart and soul of the rhythm section and therefore the foundation upon which everything else is built.
plant a virtuoso guitarist into a crap band and it'll sound like a crap band with a great guitarist...
the overall effect will be therefore crap...
Ovation - those 8 guitar trax are actually 4 stereo guitar parts.. so I was a lil' less than clear... most of the 40 trax are stereo toobut for the bass guitar and most of the drum kit..
either way.. it still don't fit onto a 16 track machine without bouncing and there's still over 20 instruments to mix - a fair few of which are not recorded until the stereo master is cut because they run 'live' from the sequencer.
The crazy thing is, the PC and the AW16G are hooked up via MIDI now and I thought that this would save me the time recording..
the plan was for the drums, bass and guitars go to tape and the orchestra, choirs, synths run in sync and only record on the master...
did this happen? did it fuck...
I end up recording everything, bouncing extra and running more stuff in sync..
typical Clarky bollox... why have one orchestra when 3 or 4 are now available...
so the moral of the tail is...
If I had a foot left to shoot myself in...
I'd shoot myself in it again..

I Sinatra: Do you grade term papers in your spare time lol!
Mr Nick: What do you mean you can't get to 25 tracks? I had a hell of a time narrowing it down lol.
Clarky: Sounds like a hell of a project man, good luck keeping your sanity lol

trutina...i was trying to get a variety of tracks that best shows Joe's ability. and trying not to repeat stuff....its not a best of album, its an essential album. best of albums consist of the fans favourites...not what shows how great and varied the artist is. hopefully that makes sense..and also trying not to pick just my favourites.

Clarky - That's very true... good advice. Thanks...
Matt - Cool interview man... who's the FN friend? Just curious ;P...
Fusion - I agree with you... come to Eastern Canada Joe! and ya, more Extremistish tunes would be nice... but going too far back to the 80s is a little too much.

Kevt03: DUDE! Small world. A Sheffielder on the board! Sorry you stuck in London. Sheffield aint great but London....takes a certain personality to enjoy it.
Dude, your track Ice Breaker is crazy! You got a "real" band on that track or "virtual" band (ie PC with some nice software).
Would love you to let me know what you think of my stuff. It's not as "rockin" as your wild stuff, but I hope you like it!

Well Joe... I've had a pretty cool couple of days installing my new and improved Sony Sound System in my 99' Jeep Cheroke Sport... 5 1/4" & 6 1/2" XPLOD Speakers and 10" XPLOD Pentagon SubWoofer with carpeted speaker box...
The 1st CD I had to play in it just absolutely had to be EOC!!
I threw on Attack, Champagne, Flavour Crystal 7, Borg Sex, Power Cosmic 1 & 2, Slow & Easy etc... and was absolutely amazed at the subsonic frequencies hidden in those tunes that only a Subwoofer can bark out... I have more respect for that recording even more so now...

the cheese I come from Sheffield, and r6rocker does as well (thurgoland, I believe) except he's just moving to Peterborough. Where in Sheffield do you live?
Wow, I just watched some videos of Paul Gilbert playing, that guy is very very cool but the singer in Mr BIg is extremely annoying!
My local record shop have now got so many new King Crimson albums in (along with a new copy of Not of this Earth) that I'm having great dificulty restraining myself (and if i failed at that, I'd have great difficulty choosing.) Someone tell me, what does the Fripp/Bruford/Belew/Levin lineup of Crimson sound like compared to In the Court and Red?
ovation You have a PGM10th, don't you? Does it have a normal headstock or a reverse headstock?

Janice, your use of the 'edit post' function would be preferrable to your use of multi-posting. Do you have the LISF DVD? if so, you can find out what Joe uses on there.
To everyone who keeps asking where Joe will take the tour - this is likely to be the first place you'll find out tour dates and venues, so there's no point asking us.
It's still unlikely that G3 will appear in Europe at all, let alone the UK. Have a look on ticketmaster or wayahead.com and search 'Joe Satriani' and you'll soon find out whether or not he's coming to Ohio.
The only thing I can suggest is The Forgotten (Part 2)

hi all again. Thanks for all the messages and kind thoughts about john(satchman 9). I cant remember all the names i know there was a michelle and i know the webmster had kind words. I cant tell you how weird it will be at a g3 or satch or vai show without him to my right side. I cant tell you the admiration he had for joe and the guys. And again he enjoyed talking to you all very much. See ya all at a joe function near jersey, allentown, and philly. Again anybody wanting more details on satchman 9 can email me at crows921@webtv.net.

ToneCapone - There are Civics that can do that 1/4 mile in 11 seconds. I'm not surprised at all. It's a light throw away car with horsepower. It's fast and you can toss it through turns. Any car can have that done but 4 cylinders will only get you so far.
Invigor - Brilliant isn't it? (Yngwie plane)
Pete - A well composed song with great production it. My main piece of opinion is how professional the guitar solos sound. You are amazing.

just made my 25 picks....so much good music there...
great to see Joe post again...been awhile......question for Joe... I know you've covered almost every facet of music there is, from blues to funk....what are your favorite scales when you solo Joe? ...any one favorite scale that you like or do you not have any particular preferance, or do you favor the modes more? I ask, because I'm not very learned in the scales or modes being a beginning guitarist..
