Clarky - I was just looking at the pics of Avarice and noticed something which made me laugh. Have you seen the size of the blades of grass underneath the guitar? They are absolutely bloody enormous!!! Have a look for yourself.
For those of you who havent seen it Click here

Crushing day: there is an idiots guide - it's called Macromedia Dreamweaver and it's very good.
Guys, don't you think starting Chris off with proper HTML code is a bit tight?! hehehe. To my knowledge, Dreamweaver will teach you lots and show you the code it's using so you get clear examples of different things you can do.

Supaa Dave: Wow, 3 birthday parties! What fun. Yes, being there for your kids really means something to them. I know, cuz my parents are divorced. having them attend my highschool graduation was really special for me. It's been ages since I've seen a photo with the three of us in it.
On the other hand, the rain stopped and the sun came out! I had an early dinner with my host family and visited the town of Janesville. They have such a better mall than Beloit does!

The thing with Dreamweaver is....it's EXPENSIVE!!
I just wanted to teach myself how to create a website as a little hobby, and there was no way I was spending that kind of money on it! So, I bought a book on HTML for 14 dollars, and it's working out well for me so far. If I want to take my hobby to another level, then I might consider spending more. But for starters, a tutorial book and free applications from magazine cover disks have worked wonders!

Hey, back after no internet over the weekend. Well Nick, I didn't miss all those great conversations in the 13 pages I was greeted with, I especially liked the 7 that you missed.
That Avarice guitar looks pretty eh? I thought it was going to be green though? Or is that one of the others? That grass is pretty huge...for domestic grass anyway. Or is it wild stuff? (ie out where "the sticks" would be if there was any)
That damn Ring of Fire song...it just goes round and round in your head, until another song takes over (never soon enough).
Finally bought Tommy Emmanuel's album "Dare to be Different" (1990) I love track 2 "Daybreak Again" (with James Morrison on trumpet & flugel). They used to play that song every morning on TV at 6AM (back when the stations closed overnight) it's a fantastic tune. Another song on it "Hearts Grow Fonder" has some Vai moments in it...never heard Tommy sound like Vai before. (Only brief moments, but very distinct.)

Secret Prayer for G3!!!
The guy (Chris?) who said he'd be bummed (or whatever word he used) if Secret Prayer & Talk To Me were in G3 and didn't make it to UK: I missed Crushing Day & Time Machine, plus I've never had the pleasure of seeing the man live anyway, so it's all the same to me. But I want him to play it anyway, in case it gets recorded. (Even if it's a bootleg.)

Just searched on TM to see how ticket sales are going for the Keswick. They're back to row X, which is the third to last row. G3 should have no problem selling out by showtime. Glad I got mine early :)
I'm not complaining, but does anyone else think tickets for this show are expensive? I don't think I ever paid this much to see Joe before - G3 or solo. See folks, this is why a Satch Fund comes in handy. lol!

ok a question on something i still dont understand. Why on like every cd to japan or some foreign country, why are they the only countries that get a bonus track, like on joe's SBM they got "The Eight Steps" and we only get the original 14 songs, when Joe lives in the US. it seems like where he lives or the artist lives that country would get the bonus track or whatever before the other countries. can anyone explain this to me please!? thanks
Bob
and sorry for the double post unless someone posted something before i finished this one.

It Is Graham Not Stu: what exactly is the half-whole diminished scale?
I always thought that a double bass and an upright bass were different, in that a double bass was bigger and lower...don't know why I thought that, but I did.
Hey this is what I was talking about (to those who don't know) click here, click on the bottom right plectrum (discography / tunes) and then click "Dare To Be Different"...little sound clips come up (after a bit).

The Bob: the reason is apparently because in Japan it's cheaper to import a CD from the US than to buy the Japanese release, so they give them an incentive to buy the Japanese edition.
Somethime for other countries they put bonus tracks for other reasons, usually if the band is particularly popular there as a reward. In Joe's case, it is the former.

michelle - Yeah, ticket prices are going up. It's most likely Clear Channel's fault, although it does make sense for G3 tickets to cost more than regular Joe tickets because more musicians are involved. I'm paying $69 per ticket this time around. It's more than I paid for the Satch / DT tour ($50), but less than I paid for G3 2001 ($100, but that was a front row seat that included a meal). Lower prices are nice though...I think I paid $35 per night to be at The Fillmore in SF for the DVD shows.
TheBob - In Japan (for example), it is cheaper for a Japanese person to buy a CD imported from the US instead of a CD that was manufactured in Japan. This messes up the chart data (whatever the Japanese equivalent of Billboard Magazine is) in Japan, and it also isn't good for the Japanese economy if people only buy imported CDs. So, to fix these problems, record companies put extra songs on the foreign versions of albums to encourage people to buy them instead of the less-expensive American import.
EDIT - Artanis I Sinatra beat me to it...oh well.
...Austin...

artanis, and (i think) austin,
half whole diminished... i might not be using the super correct name, but with a "diminished" scale, you're keeping those minor thirds in there... as it turns out, since you've already got some tones set in stone, there are only a few options for diminished scales. some common ones are whole-half, and half-whole
the two terms above describe the step pattern, like how in a major scale you've got "whole, whole, half, whole-step-connection, whole, whole, half" (or WWHWWWH)
so, say you start on E...
drone a low E (open low) just so you can hear all the tones if reference to the tonic...
E F G G# A# B C# D E notice that it's an eight tone scale, not the standard seven tones... and, just as one would expect, the chord you get when you stack thirds is a diminished seven chord (E G Bb Db)
mess around with it... it's got a really cool sound.
it reminds me a lot of what joe was doing right before oriental melody in the amsterdam webcast
